  1. I used to collect sealed vintage star wars figures. My cheapest figure was way more expensive than my most expensive model. i suspect it doesnt hold a candle to how expensive stamps go for. those can go for a ton
  2. i paid quite a lot for this one. its almost the most i ever paid for a model. the highest kits i ever bought was a tie. AMT Wild Hoss Bronco Revell LA Sheriff Bronco i honestly dont want to become a collector, it will get too expensive for me. i did it once before with a different hobby and it gets expensive (i think im already a collector)
  3. I am glad to hear its an older kit. I got worried for a minute i am actually more excited about the MPC 65 kit. that one is my new pride and joy of all my kits
  4. the kit number says T238-225. I think its still a 60's release, i found the scalemates on it, and the seller also mentioned it was a 60s release. could be a reissue for sure though https://www.scalemates.com/kits/amt-t238-225-sting-ray--1255721
  5. i had every intention on building these, but now that they arrived, i dont know if i can bring myself to it. Both of these are so exciting to me. On top AMT 1967 corvette from the 60's still sealed. the other MPC 1965 Corvette, only missing the parachute. never started Not sure if i can rotate the picture?
  6. I did use tamiya gray primer over black recently and you couldn't tell it was molded in black. Many suggested doing white primer over the gray if you want a light color
  7. I dont know about thst stuff. I will say that one rando doesn't translate into "the town"
  8. i have this obsession with having my models look as close as possible to how they come from the factory. i cant even bring myself to build a junker, even though i really want one to make one
  9. i am working on my amt 1/25 1978 ford bronco, and i would like to make it look like the free wheelin style. I tried to draw them myself thinking it would be simple, but boy was i wrong. my lack of skills are astounding. plus, i tried printing what i did have and it looked terrible, fuzzy and like garbage. i would rather not use the stripes at all vs using ones that look bad. any help is greatly appreciated
  10. I found some foil in my closet yesterday that i didnt know i had, it has to be a couple of years old since i bought it from a place that is no longer in business. It looks like it is discolored a bit, almost like it has yellowed. does bare metal foil expire?
  11. i accidentally tipped over a full bottle of tamiya extra thin cement. it smelled up the house and i couldnt stop coughing the day. i probably breathed in too much smell of it. (or it was in our head)
  12. i was able to get the amt rescue van on ebay for a decent price. its a little higher than i would have liked, but i really prefer the chevy over the ford. im going to build it as a regular van, like the one above i think. the plan is for a late 70's or early 80's style diorama. thanks again to everyone that helped me on this one. i really appreciate all of the help. i have never built, or researched a van, so i had no idea what was a good builder or not
  13. Thank you very much for the information. I can get the ford cruising van for 10 dollars less than the surfer van. do you think it is worth it to get the surfer van? i dont care about the surfboards, honestly. i really like the look of the police chevy van, but that is very expensive now. for what i am doing, i dont think i want to spend 50+ dollars on it, when i can get the chevy van for 30. i can check out hobby lobby near me to see if they have one on sale.
  14. what is considered the best 70's american van kit. must be 1/25 scale. i have no preference on on which van. i am just looking for one that fits together nicely and goes together easily. this is the style of van im looking for. it doesnt need to be a dodge, and i dont care if it has side windows. i guess i would prefer if it didnt, like this one. but i am more interested in the quality of the kit over that detail. any help is appreciated
  15. i will miss 348 terribly
  16. i ordered delivery from panera for sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches. the food arrives and there is no sausage and no cheese. basically an undercooked egg and bread. unfortunately i was really busy at my job yesterday so i couldnt call them, but in my last 3 orders from them, they have messed up 2 times. I wont order again.
  17. i got one of these today. i look forward to building it soon. i have to finish my amt 63 vette and my amt 79 bronco. then this. i also bought this on the bay. it arrived in good shape, but its pretty far down on my build list at this point (which changes constantly)
  18. i was looking at some old MPC corvette kits from the 1960s. I do plan on building it, so i wanted to make sure it was complete and in good shape. the first one i found i added to my watch list and kept on looking i had 4 or so in my watch list. the next day i got an offer from the seller for the model discounted, i looked closely at the description and it said they did know if it was complete and sold as is. i found an auction of the manual for that kit and saved the images of the kit and the instructions and marked off the parts on both sides. it wasnt even 5 minutes that i realized it was missing half the engine pieces for the custom engine, and 1 piece for the stock engine. it was also missing other pieces as well. I dont honestly believe for one second the seller didnt know if it was complete. they had the instructions pictured and they could just as easily checked it took me less than 10 minutes to see it wasnt even going to be buildable as it was without donor kits. the seller wanted top price for it, even with the discount. i kept patient and found one that was exactly what i was looking for. it was only missing the parachute, which i didnt care about. i got it for exactly 6 dollars more than the discounted price from the other auction that was missing a bunch of pieces. just makes me really glad i didnt jump on it.
  19. i messed up an otherwise great paint job trying to use locktite to glue on a mirror. it didnt hold and discolored the clear coat. i was able to respray the area with a quick shot of color and a clear and it is hardly noticeable. i will stick to my regular glue
  20. Here is one more under the lamp. I really like it. Honestly, when i was finishing up i was reasdy to get on to the amt 63 vette. When i look at it under the lamp and see the color and the way it reflects. I really like it more. I bought decal paper, so i might try to primt up some logos to make it better
  21. I dont know. It just feels like in the last 10 years or so people have generally gotten "simpler" Its probably just because the internet and people were always this way
  22. i mean the eggs are big. not the picture. the eggs in the nest on my door was about the size of a dime, maybe a nickle
