  1. i built the model king re-release of the wild hoss a ways back. it was very difficult because of an issue with the back not fitting right and being warped badly. however, it was a pretty good kit. i also remember the front grill not having any tags to glue, so it required some extra careful glueing and a promise to never touch that spot again. its a wonderful kit thought and i am so happy they are releasing it again. i will for sure pick up a couple. i spent over 100 on the model king version and i also had a copy of the wild hoss original, which was very expensive as well, which ended up being needed for paint issues and other issues. i put mine in my first diorama. that was a nightmare by itself. haha
  2. i found that if you press the tip all the way down while it is on a piece of tape or something to collect the tape, you can get ink out of the pen and use a brush. i found doing this actually gets good chrome results if let the ink in a little pool. cleanup is just water if you get to it before it fully dries. i prefer to brush it on over using the pen as designed. im not sure if it fully dries how easy it would be to clean.
  3. Ty. I will have to fix that color. Im basically done at this point. i added the white gt strips and i will fix the rims, but i dont think I will do anymore. I moved onto a 66 fairlane gt next It took a couple of weeks at night. It was close to done when i postee the first post about a week ago. A lot of the pieces are black so i taped them all to a cardboard strip and sprayed them all at the same time There was only 1 back panel on the car. I don't think I had any extra pieces when i finished. Thank you everyone for the nice comments. I had taken a few months off from building after 2 horrible failure builds in a row and i am glad this one generally worked out ok. There was a couple of dust spots in the paint, which i sanded out, but i thought I had that figured out.
  4. I added the white gt stripes on the side. I think it helps
  5. i love the vinyl top. can i ask how you did it?
  6. I am finished. I realized that i couldn't put it together with the firewall in place, so i put the firewall in the engine compartment and put it together and used toothpick to line it up. Overall a pretty fun build. I had a couple of mistakes but overall im pretty happy with it.
  7. i found this one where he says the front wheels dont fit under the wheel arches and are off and he had to move the wheel spindles
  8. has anybody bought this version of the release and built it? how does it go together? any major issues?
  9. My mother sent me a check for something and it took 3 weeks. she is 2 hours away. Usps fails again. Maybe I should be more surprised when they don't screw up She already had stopped payment.
  10. No, if i put the rear portion in firtst, its no issue. Tamiya primer. Very, very light coat of color. Doesn't matter if everything is covered. 2nd light coat, everything must be covered. 3rd coat is heavier, but not so heavy it runs. Single coat of tamiys clear, about as heavy as 3rd coat. I replied your post in the questions area in more detail a few days ago. I just checked, and the response to the full.prep is on the first page on your topic. Its tamiya white primer first. The color is tamiya ts54, light metallic blue
  11. The body is painted. There are 2 small spots of dust, and im going to sand them out Im happy with the shine. The next update will be when the car is finished
  12. thank you. im starting to feel much better now. i have tomorrow off for my dr appointment and the rest of the day is reserved for painting this body. the exhaust is model master metalizers burnt metal. i got it many years ago. i just brush paint it on, and where i start and stop brushing seems to get a slightly different color compared to the middle of the stroke. the start and stop look like the burnt part. on the curves, i will brush from the curve. its kind of hard to tell in the pictures, but its important when brushing it that you do one long stroke on the straight part it will get a "burnt" part where you stop. also, the paint needs to be shaken constantly in between strokes or it will just be dark gray. it says for airbrush only but its really thin, like the old humbrol paints, so it goes on nicely with a brush i also used this color for the dry brush on the chassis. it gives an interesting color i think.
  13. if only they would work as hard on making deliveries on time as they do on the stamps pictures
  14. this was great
  15. Thank you all for the very nice comments. i really appreciate it. Unfortunately I am still getting over my minor health problem, so i didn't feel up to painting the body. Im hoping another day or two and i will be ready to go. With that, i realized I didn't paint the air cleaner. I took it off and sprayed it with tamiya smoke to knock off a bit of shine. I also painted the white on the air filter media. I also added more black wash to the valve covers. Its a lot better in my opinion. I also cleaned up the tires and installed them. i wasn't getting a 4 wheel touch on the floor and it took me a while to figure out why, but one of the tires was not flat, it had and edge, and that was lifting the opposite side. I took a nail file and straightened it out and it lays right now.
  16. I am by no means a pro, but i started a new routine and I have gotten much better results. I clean the mold lines, etc. Instead of sanding the body use 3m ultra fine pads (link at bottom) with a tiny amount of polishing compound. I wash the body very thoroughly with dawn dish soap. I mean i really soap it up and wash it for a while to make sure there is no compound left on the body. I let it dry over night, or if im in a rush i will fast dry it with an empty airbrush. I prefer the slow method as 1 drop of water will ruin the pain job. Then i do 1 thin coat of tamiya primer and let it sit for maybe 20 minutes or so Then i do a very, very thin layer of paint. It doesn't matter if its fully covering every spot. After a couple of minutes, maybe five, i will do another very thin coat, but this time i make sure i get covered over every thing. I let that dry for 5 or so minutes. Then i do a thicker paint coat, where it looks glossy. There is a very fine line between the right amount and running the paint. I let this dry for about 30 minutes or 1 hour. Then i do 1 coat of clear. Not thin, but not thick either. let it dry completely, usually i wont touch it for overnight Then i polish with tamiya 3 stages of compound with a microfiber cloth. There is an ultrafine compound that i got by micro mesh. Its so much smoother than tamiya final. If there is any dust or cat hair i will sand it out and try to respray the area. Not just the spot, but that whole side. If its on the thick coat, its much harder to get perfect without too much paint. Scotch pad https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HSCNVM2?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title Final polishing compound. I was able to find just the compound, i didnt get this whole set https://micro-surface.com/product/hobby-kit/
  17. I got this kit years ago, and stopped immediately on it because the front piece on the body doesn't sit right. I worked it for a while and im pretty happy with it now I finally decided it was time to build it or toss it. I dont have enough space for the kits i have, and since the 67 mustang fastback was my dream car growing up, and even today, i said im going to do it. The body is full prepped and ready for primer and paint. Im going to soray it tomorrow. its going to be tamiya ts54, light metallic blue. Its my new favorite color from tamiya. I did my 79 bronco this color. I need to do more work on the wheels and tires and then finish putting it all together. I came to a screeching halt on this because I had a rough week health wise, but i should be ready to ho again tomorrow
  18. I had terrible pains, worst i have ever had in my life. I had an abcess. This was by far the most painful thing I ever experienced It finally ruptured at 5am this morning. i went to the dr and she said everything is ok now and put me on antibiotic. If it happens again, im going to the dr first thing to get it cut off before it gets to the point that it has to burst
  19. after my 2nd dose in march i felt like i had a medium sized cold for about 3 days. this time was way different. i was barely able to walk to bed from the living room. this was actually the first time i considered going to a hospital over an illness. and i had a flu years ago with a 103 fever. this was worse
  20. I woke up feeling much better today. i still have a nasty headache but at least im not feeling like I have a bad flu anymore. i woke up around 2am dreanched in sweat, so i suspect I had a fever that broke
  21. It didn't take long to go from sore arm to feeling as sick as i ever have
  22. I got my covid booster shot yesterday. when I went to bed it felt like my arm was goiing to fall off I woke up relieved to see it was still attached
  23. not really a movie, but the turner and hooch new series on disney+ is really good. i watched each episode twice already
  24. this is mostly my fault for buying this and not continuing searching, but... i bought something on amazon from a 3rd party seller, shipped by amazon. it is not supposed to arrive for 5 days after i ordered. the next morning, i found almost the exact same thing for the same price on amazon but would arrive the next day. i saw the item had not yet shipped from amazon, so i clicked cancel order. i got an email that they wont cancel it because its shipping soon. however, here we are 2 days later (3 days total) and it is still not marked as shipped. i know it should arrive in a couple of days now, but out of principal, they said its shipping soon, and it still hasnt. i dont see why they wouldnt cancel it. it said on the email that i could return it if i like, but at this point, im just going to keep it. also, irked that i bought something on ebay that says ships within 2 days. here i am 5 days later and still not shipped. printing the usps label within 2 days is not the same as actually shipping it. i paid more for this over a different seller because it said it would arrive faster. 5 days is pretty long to not even ship something and its sunday, so it will go into its 6th day at least. the ebay estimate was that it is supposed to arrive tomorrow, but that isnt going to happen. but god forbid if you leave neutral or negative feedback for people that actually deserve it....i got a negative comment by someone on ebay for asking if something had shipped 7 days after the auction ended. it wasnt a negative feedback, but a negative comment on a positive feedback. i had not even left them poor feedback. i gave them a positive with just "arrived" as the feedback, and i get a bad comment back. i dont know why i keep getting surprised by slow shippers on ebay, it seems to become normal that things take a week to ship it. i love it that they say payment within 48 hours or they will cancel your order as non payment and then they take a week to ship i know i need to learn better patience, but meh.
  25. I watched the new suicide squad movie on hbo. It was light years ahead of the last one, but inly because the last one was such garbage It reminded me of the guardian of the galaxy movie in its humor. I thought it was ok at best. If you like t hff e style and comedy of the gardiens movie you will probably like it. I mostly watched it because I was bored out of my head
