  1. You have a good start, take your time on the frame in the rear. If you need some help you can look up "Brute Force" and see what I changed on it so the wide tires will fit up inside it with out hitting any thing.
  2. Ok that is what I was trying to get at thanks for the info Mark. Looks great and hope to see some of it in 5 weeks.
  3. Hope they keep some of the jobs here in Michigan, not a lot of people knew that the dies are here and some of the kits was made here in the last 5yrs.
  4. Ok on that pic there, the lower frame rail each side all one piece with 3 bends in them? If so did you heat it up and then put the bends in before soldering the reinforced bars in?
  5. Looks great Mark, How did you keep the bend to conture the frame rail going to the nose?
  6. Your window detail if you are asking about with sealant made from epoxy and black paint.
  7. I would have to say my push is paint, and clean windows! They have to be clean and not have a mark on them or fogged up. Then I like the little details that is on normal 1 off cars on making some thing out of nothing that the kit or aftermarket has to offer. Trying to push some thing is what I like to see on peoples models and yes some times it's been done before but some one will have a better way of doing it or making it work better.
  8. @ Hollywood Jim, I really hated doing the 32 Ford "Chromzilla" because of all the chrome parts that had to be working with and not messing them up. It's not like working with a painted part that later you can tuch up or add paint to a spot and clear coat to cover up the epoxy spots or any thing. That thing was the most nerv wrecking car I have ever done.
  9. Now that the front clip is about 80% done I can change over to doing some of the motor and body work. I will go back to make the A-arms later after I get the bolts and shocks in. Was able to get the shock tower area done and the body mounts and trans mount in tonight.
  10. @Dan as you are (newbie) Also doing like what John has done makes it matt as 1, (if you wanted a 3d or raise look to a flame you put a clear coat between the color and flame to help raise it.
  11. @ Mark, yes you would have to know how to draw it basic blue print reading style and know what you are trying to do by taking it from your head and putting it into the computer and scaling it to work. Here are three pics from start to complete that I did for a test part.
  12. Thank you guys for looking and thanks Bill, It means a lot hearing it from people like you on your high end builds as you help push it. Getting the left side done today! a lot of test fitting and making sure each part comes together and will work.
  13. I was just saying the 40 Ford is just not over the top as this in custom work is all, yes it was a nice build and change in little settle parts in the body work and such but nothing like the two in the top of the past winners or the 34 ford that was all hand made from ground up that made the great 8.
  14. George, that is just what I was thinking at the show this year after seeing all them from the past that won it. They was off the hook and out in left feild from any normal little custom or retro mod car ever made. If it was a true custom like the years before it should have gone to that 34 ford that look so wild. Don't get me wrong I like the new style pro touring and clean work that is done on a lot of the new stuff but really it's not what this show was base on.
  15. Here I got the right side done with all the little detail in and the shock wire tie in place, also on the left side you can see how I started it out and showing that I have the lower A arms in place and shock mount angle right.
  16. I still have a lot of stuff from the early 70s from my child hood of going to all the races. Richard was my fav all the time and also have a rare 78 photo of him driving the all red 42 car at Wilks race and used the first ever "Championson Prov" to start the car because him and Kyle traded cars for the weekend to make sure both of them was in the race.
  17. I thought it was 58 with the white rag top that he had. Yes Maurice.
  18. Maybe cause we was talking about when Petty ran his first race, It was 58 and 59 was the his true first start at Daytona as he and his father didn't race in 58 after both of them took a trip trip over the wall. If i'm not mistaken I think the only car in 58 out of Pettys that was in the 500 was Marcuse ( I know I spelled his name wrong)
  19. I think Lee would have been ok if he didn't land in the tunnel part. Unlike Richard he shot out off turn one and two and had some thing a little softer to land on.
  20. Your right Kevin as Richards first car was a ragtop as he came in that year to start, and also his first speedway car was distoryed at Daytona as he and his dad gone over the wall on the same day but in sepret 100mil qual races.
  21. Bob Thrasher and his crew built the car, not sure who is the owner of it. I'm friends with Bob and yes Troy's car was also a very nice work but the points hurt him on the under side of the car.
  22. Was working on the right side today, was able to get the A-Arm pad made and the shock tower started and little of the extra detail done.
  23. that looks great Bill!
