  1. Thank you, Scott. I appreciate that! I try very hard to make sure that everything is right, for the era I am building. In some ways, it can be a bit trickier to build an "impression", rather than a replica. Thanks, JC. I often find myself "building in 1975"! It was when I first started into drag racing, cars and models. Clearly, it made an impression on me! Yes, get that thing built and let's run 'em! Thanks for your comment! Thank you, Carl. It was a really fun project! Thanks, Rusty. It's appreciated!
  2. I don't remember the first one. The last one was Fall 2008, doing 68 in a 55 on a deserted WI 35, just south of Danbury, in the middle of the night. I haven't had too many over the almost 50 years I've been driving.
  3. Thank you, Chris Thank you, so much, John! I appreciate that, Gary. Thank you, my friend! Well, get on it! We can't have too many Chevy IIs around here.? I had a blast building this thing! Thanks, John. This one's got the six-banger pop! I still want to print a couple of more decals, for it. One of them will proudly proclaim "194 Cu. In."
  4. That's my go-to! I am about to get back to this, after a short break to build a curbside '63 Chevy II station wagon L/SA racer. It was supposed to get finished for the 24 hour build, on Facebook, but, it took me about ten days! ? I'm really happy with the way this manifold turned out. The welds did work out, beautifully! It seems like I never stop thinking about "how can I do that?", or, "I wonder if I can make that?" Sometimes, it keeps me awake. I can think of plenty of worse things, to be "cursed" with! And, just for the record--I place a pretty high value on your opinions, and experience(s). Thanks, Richard!
  5. Very cool! MP was such a cool class! I was just looking at an old Super Stock magazine, right about the time they rolled MP and the Gas classes into Pro Gas. Some pretty cool stuff there, too!
  6. Thank you, Glen. I appreciate that! I was digging out every car magazine I could find, from '74-'76, looking for the little stuff!
  7. I am pretty sure I have, but, a refresher never hurts!
  8. Thanks, Chris!
  9. I agree, Guido--ScotchBrite pads are excellent, for this!
  10. I just discovered that we can edit our titles, again! That error in my original one was bugging the snot out of me! What a nice little kit! I had started this as my entry into this year's 24 hour build over on FB. Obviously, I didn't make the deadline. My first car was a '63 Chevy II four door sedan, white with a blue interior. As soon as this kit was announced, I knew that this was exactly what I wanted to do with it. I replaced the windows with K&S clear stock. Scratched up the slapper bars, and headers. I made a mold, and cast the wheels. Front tires are from a Monogram Pro Stock kit, slicks are AMT parts pack. I used the kit's decals for the badging. It was a bit of a challenge to get it as close as I did! I redid the headlights, making new reflector pans from tooling aluminum and a doming block. Conrad's Engine Service decal was designed and printed, here. Other decals are from various aftermarket sheets. I want to print another pair of decals, but will have to wait for a new ink cartridge. So, there you have it--a basic NHRA super stockstation wagon! Comments are welcome. Thanks for looking!
  11. Or, you could laminate, if that provides an easier alternative!
  12. I am currently applying decals. I have one pair that needs to be made. I have some touchup to do, then, it will be complete! Photos in "Under Glass", later!
  13. They're not bad for quickies!
  14. Yes, I need to pick up some MMFA. I despise foiling, and anything that makes it any easier is just fine, by me! I actually used aluminum duct tape, to do the "rock guards" along the sides as well as the side window tracks and wing windows. Here are the slapper bars. They're .080"x.125" Evergreen strip for the bars, .030" half round for the mounting "bolts" and snubbers made of any old, round stock you can find that fits, sanded to a cone. I just glued these right to the springs, and called it good, being a curbside, and all! In case you'd like something a little more detailed, here's a how-to I put together for the old StraightLineModeler website.
  15. I can certainly get some shots of the slapper bars. These are super simple!
  16. You're right, about the foil. It's a new(er) sheet I bought about 4 years ago. Adhesive is awful! I got so tired of fighting it, I finally decided to try some Detail Master foil, that, according to the price tag was received by the store I bought it from in February of '96. It went on, beautifully. Go figure. I will probably attempt to clean the foil up, some. I'm not thrilled about it, however! ?
  17. Thanks, Larry! I am very happy with the rollbar, too. Thank you, Roger. Shouldn't be too much longer, now, since I think the foil's done! It's pretty cool how much that thin metal sheet can really bring a model to life. I'm going to do the emblems with paint. I would have done them, with foil, under the paint, but, it was supposed to be the 24 Hour build, so I didn't figure it would be a good idea to try that, for the first time, then. In hindsight... This leaves windows, emblems and graphics, basically. As always, questions, comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking!
  18. Thank you, Ray. Much appreciated!
  19. Thanks, Ian. This is my first one. They're definitely cool! I appreciate that, Glen! I figured the curbside version would at least give me a shot at completing it in the 24 hour window. Not so much! I'm about halfway done with the foil, now, so should get it finished, today, except for the graphics. I haven't had time to work on those, much, yet. From the minute this kit was announced, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. It's been even more fun, because my first car was a '63 Chevy II four door, white, with the blue interior.
  20. I finally finished the interior. I just thermo-formed a new windshield from .010" clear sheet. I'm going to make sure the bumpers fit well, and properly, then will foil the body. Then, it'll be just a matter of putting on the final bits, then putting it all together. I'll then call it done, while I finish up the graphics and decals. I'm pretty happy with the interior! I forgot to mention, earlier, that I had to cut the rear seat apart, and make it look like it was folded, in order to clear the rollbar. I reckon you've already figured that out, but, felt I should clarify. Questions, comments and critiques are always welcome. Thanks for looking!
  21. Thanks, Kenneth. Anybody who throws in an "f-bomb" is alright, by me!
  22. Thanks, Edgar. I'm having a lot of fun, with it! Lots of neat little touches can be added to these, model-wise.
