Apple Barrel and Folk Art Craft Paints
Jon Haigwood replied to Snake45's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Found these video's on Createx and Future a couple weeks ago. They are about 5 years old but give some good info on using Createx and other acrylics such as Apple Barrel. There is this intro video and 6 others on how to use the combo. If I remember right he did not recommend using Apple Barrell and similar paints because of their thickness you would need to reduce them so much that you will not have much pigment, but as some posts show here that may not be the case. Worth a look see. -
Apple Barrel and Folk Art Craft Paints

You might try using Future as a reducer . It was recommended to use it 50/50 with Createx but Apple Barrel may be thicker. -
Why do people dig up these old threads???
Jon Haigwood replied to Force's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't use the search feature here but I do use the pinned "How To Search" method and find it works very well. It may have deleted pictures but normally there is more information here that I would get if I asked the question on the forum. If I don't find my answer in the search I ask here. -

In the thread header it shows the date of the day that thread started. If you see an old thread that doesn't interest you , keep-on scrolling -
Why do people dig up these old threads???

Yes but if we delete old threads then we won't need the "search" feature. Then we can have have a plethora of new threads asking the old questions over and over again. And when we do nobody can complain and post "TRY USING THE SEARCH FEATURE BEFORE YOU POST A QUESTION" . As for posting on "old" threads, well that's what they are here for -
Sounds like a inter-coat clear for masking. I will have to try some with my Autoair Colors/.

Best info I could find was ,it was painted a putride purple and may have had shaved door and trunk handles. -
Just tried some for a gauge face on a dash, Applied some chrome from a Molotow pen , applied some Model master tint, then filled with a drop of future. Looks OK to me.

Best Way to Store Molotow Pens?

I had my 1mm tip dry up so I let it soak in some alcohol for a few minutes and it un-dried , worked great. -
Grabowski's "77 Sunset Tee" found
Jon Haigwood replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It is a real shame . Arguably Norms T is noted to be the start of the T Bucket era. When I looked at the picture of the Lil coffin I think I threw up a little in my mouth, yuck -

Pledge over Createx Problems
Jon Haigwood replied to Harpo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Used Future over Createx never had that problem. How much and what are you reducing the createx with ? I normally use 4012 reducer. In the past I just used water. The future maybe have issues with the 4030, it's not meant to be reducer. I have not tried it yet but one of the guys in our local club reduces the Createx with future and gets good results. -
Glue for thread ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Your right I am trying not to have to paint it after it is put on. I do use the Tamyia to soften it, that's how I bent the half round on the front seat. I will make a trip to michaels and see if I can find anything that might be an alternative to thread. -
Glue for thread ?
Jon Haigwood replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I am making sections with .010 sheet styrene and .080 half round for the back seat. Glueing on .080 half round on the front seat. And making sections with sheet styrene and .060 for the dash and the rear deck. I want the piping to go around the edges of the front seat and at the top of the rear seat. I thought about using rod but I want it black and if I paint it black the paint will most likely rub off when I bend it around the corners and attach it. -
