  1. Yes sir! In my opinion, probably the best Vietnam war movie ever made, with the exception of possibly "Apocalypse Now" and "The Deer Hunter". "You talk the talk. Do you walk the walk?" "These people we wasted here today are the finest human beings we will ever know. After we rotate back to the world, We're gonna miss not having anyone around that's worth shooting." "Anyone who runs is a VC. Anyone who stands still.....is a well disciplined VC!" "Believe it or not, but under fire, Animal Mother can be a wonderful human being. All he needs is someone throwing hand grenades at him for the rest of his life!" Steve
  2. More of a collection of donors than kits. Steve
  3. "Men are gonna get killed here today, Sue, and I'm gonna kill 'em". "My friend and me got a hankerin' for Switzerland chocolate and a good smoke". "Well, you may not know this, but there's things that gnaw at a man worse than dying". Steve
  4. "This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are defenders of this country. We are the masters of my enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen". Steve
  5. The Shining. Steve
  6. Like I said. Collectors are an odd bunch! Steve
  7. So true! Collectors are an odd bunch. Steve
  8. A few more really spectacular movies: Schindler's List The Deer Hunter Patton Platoon Full Metal Jacket Hoosiers Mad Max Open Range Rain Man Raging Bull The Green Mile Pulp Fiction American Graffiti Good Morning Vietnam The Breakfast Club The Pianist The Revenant Scarface The Untouchables Apocalypse Now I could go on. Steve
  9. Great taste in movies! Especially "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Silence of the Lambs", and "Saving Private Ryan". I really liked "Jeremiah Johnson", "Seven", and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" as well. I will add the Coen brother's remake of "True Grit" with Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Hailee Steinfeld. Absolutely one of Jeff Bridges' best performances, along with his portrayal of "the dude" in "The Big Lebowski". Steve Steve
  10. C'mon guys! Really? Nobody mentions "The Godfather"? Hands down one of the best movies of all time! Number 2 on my list? "The Godfather part II"! Steve
  11. I get it guys. My "tongue in cheek" analogy was directed more towards the disparity of the price compared to what I would assume that most of us would consider a relatively fair price for a model like this. I've spent enough time, as well as enough money on rare kits on ebay to realize that some of them can reach very respectable prices. But I think that we all know that this kit is not worth $1,000.00 even on it's best day. But that said, if someone is willing to plunk down a grand for this kit, by all means, knock yourself out. I will still consider them somewhat of a loon for doing so. Steve
  12. Kind of for the same reason that we might consider someone who's willing to pay $50.00 for a McDonalds cheeseburger a little loony. Steve
  13. Thanks Rich! By the way, I have fallen behind on getting those wheel covers out to you. My 15 year feline friend lost her battle with intestinal cancer yesterday, so I have been in a bit of a funk and not getting much done as a result. I will definitely get them packed up this weekend and get them out to you as soon as I can get to the post office. Sorry for the delay. Steve
  14. I agree. I'm pretty certain that even if I wanted this model sealed, in the box, I could probably find another one for less than half the price at some point. Now granted, it might take a couple of years to come to fruition if it's a rare enough kit, but this is not the only one in existence, I assure you. But, as they say, we live in a world of "instant gratification", and if some goof wants to pay this sort of money, well, have at it. Steve
  15. Wrong section. You need to move this to the "wanted" section if you really want anybody to pay any attention to it. This section is for posting your finished models. Steve
  16. I'll second that! I love the Coen brothers, and I can't remember a single one of their movies that I've seen that I didn't find exceptional..........Except for Hail, Caesar! Steve
  17. My wife dragged me to the Meryl Streep movie "Postcards From the Edge" many years ago. It was the only time that I ever remember walking out of the theater less than half way through the movie! Steve
  18. Thanks Kevin! My entries didn't qualify for a "rat rod" or "racing subject" award. For the first time since I started attending this show in 2016, I didn't receive a top ten "people's choice" award! Too bad. I was hoping to continue the streak. Steve
  19. Thanks so much guys! Thanks Wayne! It was very uncharacteristically quiet without all of you this year! I actually expected the Olds to get more attention than the Plymouth, but then again, I need to take into consideration that we didn't arrive at the show until after 12 noon, cutting down on the time it was available for viewing. Plus, the fact that the Olds was displayed on a crowded table and the Plymouth was pretty much all by itself might have had something to do with it. Regardless, I was very honored to receive any sort of award. Just got word from my wife, who is a nursing instructor at North Dakota State University, that the faculty is supposed to begin getting COVID vaccinations starting on December 1st! With any luck, by the time the 2021 NNL show takes place next May, this whole COVID thing will be just an unpleasant memory! Steve
  20. Got this yesterday at the 2020 NNL North show in Bloomington Minnesota. A light turnout this year with about half the number of models on display as a normal , "Non-COVID" year. I didn't manage a "Peoples Choice" plaque this year, but I was honored to receive the "Sizzlin' Sixties" award, one of only three "special awards" offered this year. Thank you folks! You will notice that the trophy was slightly botched with an additional N in NNL. I was told to consider it the "November Nameless National Luminarys". Steve
  21. These "sealed" kits are only attractive to collectors with a deep wallet. Actual builders such as us will take the time to find an example that we can build for a fraction of the cost. I say, if someone wants to spend $1,000.00 on a box to set on a shelf and collect dust, knock yourself out! Steve
  22. Absolutely! I'm not trying to talk you out of, or into anything. I just want to give you as much information as possible so that your decision will be an informed one, no matter what you decide. Steve
  23. I think that's what the OP is after. List those. Steve
  24. As my mother would say, "people with more money than brains". Steve
