  1. Excellent job Peter!! Steve
  2. Yeah, you might not want to get too involved with it. I used it for a short time many years ago when it was available at local auto parts stores. I assumed there was a reason why it was no longer available. Steve
  3. I used to use yellow primer all of the time! I absolutely loved the stuff! Just can't seem to find it anymore. I believe it's called "Zinc Chromate" primer. I used it under almost everything, but it works exceptionally well for yellows & greens. Steve
  4. I'm surprised at you guys! Don't you have one of those wives that buys things she doesn't need just because they're on sale? Well, I consider this a "sale" item. I've seen un-built '67 Galaxies go for well over $300.00! The sale of a lifetime! Steve
  5. Very nice! Especially the Ford! Steve
  6. What she don't know won't hurt her! I get a little "space" occasionally. My wife recently spent around $300.00 on a pair of boots! You have to take advantage of those circumstances when they come up. Steve
  7. I started the painting process today & quickly discovered that the paint I picked was not what I was looking for! Picked up a can of Duplicolor 1566 Toyota black at the auto parts store yesterday with the assumption that it was a basic black. After applying a couple of coats I realized it had very fine gold metallic flecks in it! No indication in the description or on the cap that it was a metallic paint, but there you go. Depending on the circumstances, I normally wouldn't let it bother me, but this being a stock build, I have no use for metallic black. I would have included photos, but I won't embarrass myself. A little too much humidity in the air today, so I got a lot of "fogging" in the paint. I have a little bit of a different Duplicolor black on hand so I'll probably shoot the final coat with that, or pick up another can this afternoon. So if anyone is looking for a black with fine gold metallic in it, Duplicolor BTY1566 is your answer! Steve
  8. Thank you Lee! Steve
  9. You're probably right. A punch used on the .007 lay film seems like an easy solution. Steve
  10. Thank you Jeremy! As I realize that this post is coming to the end of it's life, I just want to take this opportunity to thank everybody who viewed & responded to it. I really appreciate the kind comments from all! Again, thank you all so very much!! Steve
  11. Nice work Frank! I especially like the color! I'm a sucker for the more unusual colors. Steve
  12. Wouldn't it be just as easy to make new glass out of clear acetate or "lay film"? After all, if it's side glass, it's most likely flat anyway. I use .007 lay film for side glass on occasion. I'm sure it would be very easy to drill holes in. Steve
  13. Thanks Cliff! Steve
  14. Thanks Jake! Steve
  15. Very nice looking Nova. I had several friends that had early 70s Novas when I was young. Was never much of a Nova fan then, but I've grown to appreciate them more over the years. Very nice paint by the way! Steve
  16. That's what I would do. I've begun to utilize the "locator pin" thing a lot more myself recently. Saves a lot of avoidable hassles. Steve
  17. I usually sand that sort of thing out along with any mold lines & have my parts re-plated. But there are still many times a small imperfection here & there that this technique could come in very handy for. Steve
  18. Never done it myself for obvious reasons. That's my first consideration when I buy a vintage kit. I don't even consider it if the roof pillars are damaged. I don't mind paying a little more for a good one. My first inclination would be to check my other kits that have a similar A-pillar configuration & see if I could rob one rather than build one from scratch. But I would not shy away from at least trying to make one from styrene strips. There's really not a lot to a windshield post. Steve
  19. The Amt '67 XL is a very nice kit if you can find a good one. I got fairly lucky & got this one on ebay for about $150.00. Believe it or not, that's a very reasonable price for an unbuilt kit. Steve
  20. But I still doubt very much that Mobius will pony up shipping for every part they send out. At least I know I wouldn't. Steve
  21. I would think these round ones would be very easy to make. Simple pieces of round plastic tubing sliced thin & foiled or sprayed with Alclad would do the trick. Steve
  22. Thanks Kevin! I feel the same way about every build when I first get started on it. This one especially! Took me twice as long as my average build! Steve
  23. That's why I said depending on what you're looking for. Had no Idea what the real car looked like. Steve
  24. My guess is, that's postage. I'm sure it would cost all of that to ship it across the street. Steve
  25. Thanks Tom. I'll keep my eyes peeled. You never know who might pop up! Steve
