This kit is pretty bad! Not only is the detailing bad, but it looks as if the body is out of proportion to me. Looks too be way to short & wide. Strange. The multi piece bodied 1/32nd kits that Revell did during this time looked pretty good compared to this one. I'd kill for a new tool of a 50s Caddy! I'll be extremely impressed if you can make it look anything like the photo you posted! Good luck Randy! Steve

Coral Sand? I've had a jar of that laying around for several years waiting to go on a mid 50s Ford. I'll be anxious to see how it looks on the body. Always thought it looked a little too "orange". Steve

You could also try masking off the whole front fender, sanding the damage a little, & re-shooting the fender. only question would be is how transparent your color is, & will adding another coat deepen the color too much to match. Steve

I would say based on the fact that they're mostly a bunch of re-pops......which is what we usually see. I would sure hope we'll see some "new" stuff. Not just the same old stuff repackaged. I hope we'll see some subjects that haven't been done over & over again, new tools or not. I'm not sure my heart will take another Camaro kit! Steve

I've never been a fan of this generation of Caddy, but you are doing a terrific job on it! Press on! Steve

Another thing to keep in mind is, even though lacquer goes on very thin, several coats will build up & "narrow" your body openings. If you have a particularly tight fitting hood, it's a good idea to shave it back a little to allow for the thickness of the paint. I learned this from using multiple coats on my bodies where I typically will use 4 coats of primer, 3 or 4 coats of color & up to 6 coats of clear. That can narrow your hood opening & widen your hood enough to where they will no longer fit if the gap is not widened prior to paint. Steve

Looks nice Rich! This is one of those kits that I never thought about pursuing. Looks almost exactly like the '59. I have a pretty hard time getting excited about building too many "similar" kits. I always need something different to pique my interest. Nice job though! Steve

I never leave a hood on a relatively fresh paint job for more than a few minutes. I've had this exact thing happen to me in the past. Even automotive lacquer can take quite some time to cure. By the time I'm finishing up a build, (usually a month or 2) I'm relatively confident that the paint is cured enough so that it won't stick. Lesson learned. Steve

I really needed to finish up at least part of this project just to keep me moving on it! So, here's the interior. The body is done for the most part, but I've barely begun on the engine. That's where I'm headed next. I'm hoping it will go much faster than the interior did! Steve

Yes, the '61s at least, were mirrored. They spent a lot of time back in this era to come up with new funky "Gimmicks". But they were kind of cool. I think I would have had a heck of a time recreating this particular speedometer with absolute accuracy! Steve

Absolutely! Any old paint left behind is contaminated with the cleaner & can cause problems with the new paint. Steve

$10.29 with standard shipping is what I'm seeing. Still a bit more than I'd like to see, but possible in a pinch. I usually order a couple of sheets along with a bunch of other stuff from Model Roundup to help ease the pain of shipping costs. Steve
