So I experimented with cutting the front clip off of a '70 B-M Camaro as part of an idea to build a garage diorama along with possibly the AMT Old Pro Nova kit that has the separate fenders. Haven't started on the Nova, gotta finish the garage, but got the '70 Camaro done for now.

There was one on eBay recently, I dropped out of the bidding when it hit $50, ended up selling for $110, IIRC.

One of the resin casters in Detroit offered this as a kit a while back. Not sure if it is still available.

So why does every discussion about models at Hobby Lobby turn into a rant about the selection and the price of models today? For many of us, Hobby Lobby and Michael's are all we have when it comes to local sources of model kits, so we are happy to have them. Yes, model kits have become more expensive, but everything else has too. Yes, their selection is limited but they can't carry everything. Could be the manufacturers limit what they can buy as they plan production runs around the orders from HL and Michael's. And no, I do not need a lecture on what inflation is and how it has impacted the price of model kits and how they should be $20 and not $40. I have been in this hobby for over 50 years and remember when models were cheap and stocked everywhere.

Anyone deal with Motor City Resin Casters?
mikemodeler replied to gbtr6's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Not all the casters think alike nor do they all have the same issues. Some are better managers than others, some are overwhelmed with multiple problems- health, work, life- and as such have to figure out which is the first one to deal with. I wish Jeff well and hope he can get things right, he has some great products and I am sure he wishes that his situation was better. -
Just to keep you in the loop!
mikemodeler replied to George Bojaciuk's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Wylde's designs and work are outstanding and George is a great guy to do business with, buy without hesitation! George is doing a lot of the heavy lifting by importing Wylde's products and reducing the shipping costs. Fast service from both! -
These look pretty close, have a set on order.

The iHobby edition had the Desert Dog tires and chrome eight spokes. I would be willing to part with the tube bumpers if someone wants to trade, might be willing to throw in the chrome wheels too. PM me with your offers.

Question: Chevy 4x4 IFS
mikemodeler replied to edefrange's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes, but if someone was going for a quick build, it is the easiest, just depends on what the goal is. -
Question: Chevy 4x4 IFS
mikemodeler replied to edefrange's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Depending on how detailed you want to go, besides the Cadillac options (AMT & Revell both did a kit), if you want a simple conversion the AMT snap fast Tahoe kit will go under any of the AMT short bed pickups of the same years (88-92) with little modification. Maybe with the reissue of the AMT Chevy SS454 short bed kit (1990 model), someone in the resin/3D world will do a conversion kit to make a 4x4. -

That isn't a 4x4 truck. -
Wes's Model Corner is in the NE corner of Tennessee. Wes and his crew offer decent pricing and fast service on current kits and some older stuff. They are also expanding their supplies to include paint and accessories. Here's a link to his store: https://wesmodelcarcorner.myshopify.com/ I have also used Burbank Hobbies out of California, fast service and great selection of kits and hobby related items.

Motor City Resin has much better quality. I know MCRC has had issues getting product out but his quality is far superior to RR

He is temporarily closed to catch up on orders, but I believe Danny at Scenes Unlimited makes a set of Chevy truck wheels and caps like the ones pictured from Rookie Resin. -
Moebius '72 Ford F-250 w/Plow
mikemodeler replied to niteowl7710's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Those are the kit tires! If you are looking for a similar tread but just a bit taller/wider, the Michelin T55D from Scenes Unlimited is about an eighth of an inch taller and a sixteenth wider. Michelin on the left, kit tire on the right -
That is the finished model. Still have a couple more to build, some day.
