Take your cheapskate butt down to Model Empire and invest in a kit! I will see if I can find the batteries to the camera and get some pictures of the snow plow. I will be busy putting it together this weekend and hope to have before and after pictures. Just have to make sure my "Geek Squad" son is home to help me upload the pix!
-
The UPS man just left, I will be busy with the glue and paint this weekend! I will post up some comments later regarding the kit and its' contents.

UPS tracking says that my kits made it to Charlotte at 3 am today, so the wait begins for the big brown truck to stop. Sure hope the wife is busy tonight so I can play!

Revell's Make-nTake
mikemodeler replied to mikemodeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Funny! I will probably help her on the first model kit day, although I she did do a good job on that space shuttle, not sure she needs me! Our 15 year old daughter will most likely help with the classes as part of her volunteering portion of being in National Honor Society and she has built a few models with Dad so I just might be off the hook! My wife has had her eyes opened to the lack of creativity and inactivity in school age children and this is what has compelled her to start these programs. Many times her students talk of playing video games but when she asked them if they ever built a model or other craft type project, she was surprised that many of them said no. She talked with me about the issue and that is when I mentioned the make-n-take program and how many kids enjoy it at car shows, hobby shows and other events. In addition to building 2 different models during the 7 week run of classes, she is looking at some of the other projects that are on the shelf at Hobby Lobby, Radio Shack and some online sources. This is slated to start just before Halloween and run close to Christmas so it should be fun. I will keep you all posted! -
Model Cars worldwide...
mikemodeler replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Okay, I will chime in and say the USA. There are some people here in the South that feel we will still win our freedom from the North! -
Revell's Make-nTake

Latest update- She met with the afterschool program coordinator at the YMCA the other day and is awaiting a response from him regarding her proposal. She went over the basics and the estimated costs and he seemed to think it was a workable deal so we will know soon. The good news is that the YMCA will be ordering the supplies, the bad news is that means no leftovers for me! She is getting excited and the YMCA thinks this program could be expanded to multiple schools, meaning she could be quite busy! -
There will be another concert another time but that infection is nothing to mess with! Find something else to do this weekend and look to see when Toby & Bama will be playing elsewhere, maybe there is a roadtrip in your future!

90 S10 Resin cowl hood?
mikemodeler replied to FatManScaleDesigns's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Contact VCG Resins. They have resin engines and hoods and just might have what you are looking for. Craig is modeler and forum member (mannyclub) so he is one of us. Great product and prompt service. www.vcgresins.com -
I do believe that RMR does offer one, check out Star Models and I think they have it listed. Can't find the email or website addy but will keep looking!

Mystery kits!?
mikemodeler replied to tvandmoviecars's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hopefully they will come apart easily so you can restore them. The AMT Camaro body can be combined with the current Revell 69 Camaro chassis to give you a better detailed build. The chrome pieces for the Camaro can be had from The Modelhaus if they can't be saved. That Charger ain't much to look at, I personally would use a few firecrackers and put it out of it's misery! The 64 Dodge has potential, take your time and restore it. -
Thanks for pointing that out Roger, it is definitely not a state of the art kit! But, us truck modelers do have something new to glue and the plow will certainly help Revell sell a few of these! The lack of details is secondary for me, I am not much for super accurate detailed builds.

John, I just ordered three of these (don't ask, it's a sickness I have!) from Tower Hobbies and they should be here by the end of the week. They have free shipping on orders over $30 and offer quantity discounts. I got my 3 for about $55, delivered to my front door. I could have waited to see when these showed up at the LHS but when I asked them last week they could not give me an answer or if they have even ordered any! Glad to help you out John. I have a couple of the AMT 84 GMC pickups and I know there are differences between the two, just glad to have a new truck kit to build and am really excited about the snow plow! Just got an email from Tower Hobbies with the UPS tracking information and it says my kits will be here tomorrow! I just might be busy this weekend tearing the wrapper off some model kits!!!

99' Silverado
mikemodeler replied to nboldman's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I don't see any pictures, is it me? -
I also noticed that many of the plow parts have numbers in the instructions but aren't listed in the numerical listing. No big deal, just kinda interesting that they didn't list them!
-
Gerry, I bet I have spent close to an hour studying those instructions, you got me distracted from doing work! I did notice that the engine assembly looks to have an EFI set up instead of a carb, wonder if that was intentional by Revell? Thanks again!
-
That looks to be a lot more accurate than I originally thought. I have many vehicles waiting for this plow assembly and mounting equipment. There are at least 10 different vehicles in my stash that will be getting one of these plows, sure hope Revell can keep up with my demand!

mikemodeler replied to kenb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I could make a joke about it being the wife's mode of transportation but it is too warm to be sleeping in the garage! Nice bike and welcome back! Get some of those projects posted up here! -

Revell thinking about NASCAR again
mikemodeler replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am with you 100% on this! I have zero interest in most of the new releases and would not buy a NASCAR kit, bit that doesn't mean there aren't thousands of others who will! As far as the pickup idea, I would buy some, depending on the make and model. An idea I have had in my mind is that if the kit companies were to offer a kit with several building options- dual wheels, flatbed, pickup bed, dump bed, wrecker bed, utility bed, ambulance bed. Probably pretty expensive but could be interesting to ponder. It would have wide appeal and maybe some of the resin guys could work with them on some of the options. If an all new kit is too much to ask, what about some of the old tools being fixed up? I find it hard to believe that the old MPC Dodge pickup could not be fixed somehow to be reissued again. The last kit that was offered was in Monster Truck form ( I have one 75% done) and while the hood was modified, the body and basic chassis is there. Some simple work to come up with the stock drivetrain and axles and a hood from the Modelhaus and BANG!
