  1. Casey, What is the likelihood that Model Empire will have these in 3 weeks when I am up there? I sure would like to pick these up, along with a few other goodies, when I make the annual family vacation trip to Cheeseland! Your mirrors should go out tomorrow. It finally cooled off to the mid-90's this week and I can go out to the garage without melting!
  2. Very nice and great details.
  3. Oh yeah, well down here in the land of NASCAR, we had 3 straight days at 104, today we cooled down to a chilly 93! Weatherman just said we will be in the 90's for the next 7 days, which is higher than average, but we have fared better than you Chicago boys so far this summer as you have had more 90 degree plus days than we have! Strange weather around the US this year, not sure if hurricane season will be affected by the heat and wildfires but we will soon find out!
  4. Looking good, glad to see some progress! Are you building the fifth wheel or tag along trailer to go with the truck?
  5. The Modelhaus has resin wheels that are copies of the AMT Snap Fast Duallie from 1996. While not exactly period correct, they do work on the '72. They have them with and without tires and come plated or unplated, your choice. Reasonable price and great service & product.
  6. Looks good from here, nice colors and clean building!
  7. Jeez Harry, you put "amazing find" in the subject line and knowing that you are from Chicago, I immediately thought you were gonna post a picture of an honest politician! I could not imagine finding a car like that in the garage and not knowing that my Grandfather had it hidden for that many years. I agree with Rob that Jay Leno will be among the bidders.
  8. Jim didn't say so I will .....SHINY! Nice job and great detailing!
  9. And here I thought the Hokey Pokey was what is was all about Harry! :D Great tip, gonna have to try it next time!
  10. And your problem is what????????????????????????????????????????????????????? We all suffer from modelers ADD, some of us have it worse than others. I would guess that I have at least 20 WIPs, but that doesn't stop me from buying and starting more!
  11. Here I am 2 days later and no updates....I feel ripped off! Just kidding, that is coming along nicely and if the rest of it is detailed like the engine, it will be a very nice model!
  12. There have been 3 van kits announced or re-issued so far this year: 1. Revell 77 Chevy Van 2. AMT Dirty Donny Van 3. AMT Phantom Van The first two have been reviewed here and several examples have been built. The Phantom Van should be out by late summer, I remember it from my childhood days of model building, nothing spectacular but nice to have!
  13. Sure, tease us with a couple of pictures...where is the rest of the model?!?!?!?! Looking good so far and should be killer when done. Another way of opening up a grille from behind is to use a sanding stick on the back side- easier to control the speed but harder and slower than using a Dremel.
  14. The Vantom is to be reissued later this summer as the Phantom, so if you can be patient a few more months, you won't have to worry about having the body cast.
  15. While the plates here in NC might only be $28 for a renewal, there are other "fees" they get you with. For example, every year your vehicle is safety inspected and it costs $30 for a newer vehicle (1996 & newer, OBD II emissions), and then there is the personal property tax, which is determined by the state. They determine what your car is worth and then they assess taxes accordingly. My 2008 Toyota Camry with 143,000 miles is valued at $12,000 and was taxed $190 while my wife's 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe with 38,000 miles was valued at $14,000 and taxed $220, yet I could probably get more for the Santa Fe than the Camry over the "assessed value". if our gas taxes were a bargain, it would be worth it but they are not! Luckily I live 2 miles from SC where gas is routinely 30 cents cheaper per gallon so guess where I fuel up? Yep! Glad you got what you did for the General Lee, hopefully the buyer will realize how much work you put into it and cherish it as much as you did.
  16. I might have a Midnite Cowboy Wrecker cab & front end available for trade, I will have to check. PM me if you are interested.
  17. I am speechless. Incredible details and excellent finishes.
  18. There is a stark difference between what is in my display case and what is in the WIP department! My display case is mostly 1969 and 2006 Camaros of the Revell snap variety with a few other 60's-70's GM muscle cars thrown in while I have all different years and makes of cars, trucks and hot rods in the WIP pile. I like Ford hot rods & pickups, GM cars & trucks (50's-70s), Jeeps of all years and the occasional Dodge pickup.
  19. Tom, Their catalog states that they accept Visa, Mastercard, Check or Money order. When I have ordered in the past, they did not charge the credit card until Carol was ready to ship my order. Hope this helps!
  20. As others have said, don't worry about the order, it will get there! My first order years ago was explained by Carol like this: " We fill orders in the order in which they are received". This means that even though the parts you are ordering might be in stock, you will wait until they get to your order, ensuring previously placed orders are not overlooked. I always allow the 4-6 weeks they advise when placing an order so I have something to look forward to when going to the mailbox. They have probably been pretty busy if they have been to many shows recently as that tends to spike interest in the product- both through having stuff on hand at the show and the resulting orders from attendees.
  21. Try using a blow dryer to gently heat up the glued section to see if that helps. If you don't have a razor saw, try a hacksaw blade and go slow. Continue researching this piece on the internet, you may find someone who is selling one that they repaired and you might be able to get them to share their secrets!
  22. Because they can!!!!!!! If they had chopped the cab to be more in line with the rest of the body, it might look better.
  23. That and the windshield will be enormus, much like on those old GM FWD minivans from the early 90's. Great concept, just a couple of tweaks and it will be killer!
  24. I think he had posted in the past that he is also involved in Scouting with his kids, and that could explain the absence.
  25. Best of luck with the rebuild project Tom, be patient and hopefully it will be better than before! Jim- they had a housefire last month.
