Just cleaned and organized my work area because we are having a party in 2 weeks and my work area is out in the open in what is called a bonus room. I found a lot of pieces and parts in the process and hope to spend some time at the desk once the party is over. I have never had a modeling area that was open to others so I am learning to be neater! Like most everyone, I tend to get a couple (or more) kits going at the same time and end up with a mess.

The Astro Van was introduced around 1985 and ran for nearly 20 years. It was very boxy and it took GM a few years to realize that FWD vans were the ones soccer moms wanted to drive, not some truck derivitive. Aoshima had an Astro van, curbside I believe, and is kinda pricy. They pop up from time to time on eBay and might be available from HLJ. The one in the first post is of a first generation Astro van, later model years had composite headlamps.

Much like building a 1:1 vehicle, a model builder may have some tools and parts already on hand versus having to start from scratch. They can also use swapped parts and kits to yield the items necessary to build the vehicle without investing a big pile of money. I might add some aftermarket pieces- wheels, engine bits- or scratchbuild a few things from sheet or shape plastic but have yet to go hog wild on P/E or billet pieces. I tend to build for myself and not the contest table and that probably is why I don't spend the extra cash on a build.

I drive through Indiana on my way from Charlotte to Northern Illinois. Gotta be the longest 6 hours of the trip, not to mention having the least scenery compared to Kentucky, Tennessee and NC! My employer has a facility in Indy and I have the pleasure of visiting there every October for inventory. We occasionally get out for a nice meal but for the most part we are stuck in a building so therefore I dread going to Indiana.

I have had more problems with the delicate rear end of this kit than the front end. The AMT Nova and Revell Chevelle are 2 totally different kits and the only similarities are the pro street nature of them.

Revell 2012 Fall New Releases Announced

Probably get the Vandal just for the minibike- be on the lookout for a trade once it comes out! -
My sister had a brand new 75 Chevy Nova with a 250 6 cylinder, 3 on the tree and manual steering, AM radio and no A/C. My Dad had a 79 Chevy Van with the same engine and 3 on the tree and a friend had an 83 C-10 with the 250/3 on the tree combo. Not rare, but not real popular either!

Looking good Chuck, shouldn't be too long before this is in the underglass section. Digging the color and the stance, very menacing looking!

Revell '50 Oldsmobile Club Coupe 2'n1

James, you bring up a good point and the lesson is that until it is on the shelves at your LHS or shown being available from your online source, we just have to wait. Many of us have waited this long, what is a few more weeks or a couple of months. My frustration comes from endless delays only to have something cancelled when the manufacturer probably knew all along that the kit wasn't coming! -
Nice! Is that the original release of the Revell Yenko kit? Nice to see one that isn't hugger orange or yellow!
-
That would be a great resin item for someone to offer in place of that incorrect chambered exhaust Revell keeps putting in those Camaro kits!

Any Clubs in North Carolina?

Thanks for the information, I have been to these shows in the past but haven't made it the last 2 years due to schedule conflicts. The SCMA branch in Rock Hill is actually closer to me than the two you mention (30 minutes vs, 75 minutes). Hopefully more can be done to resurrect the Road Knights here in Charlotte. -
Norm does not have a lot of his product illustrated in his catalog, much like The Modelhaus, but it is safe to say that his product is top notch and you will not be disappointed. The best way to see his product is to attend a show at which he has it on display or if there is something in particular you are interested in, maybe a member here has that item and can post a picture. I believe his catalog is $4, which probably barely covers the cost of production and postage, but there is a ton of stuff in there to interest you, regardless of what type of models you build.
