  1. I have no dog in this fight but it could be there is conflicting information coming from Revell? Either way, until they are on the shelf it doesn't really matter does it?
  2. Are those being released by DTR, dirt track replicas? I saw them yesterday but did not look at them, not a subject matter of interest for me.
  3. Yeah, I found that out after my original post. Still, there is that reference to Jimmy Shine from the movie and considering that was back in 1980, he might have lifted the name from there. His real name is considerably longer and harder to pronounce than "Shine" An interesting note to that movie is that Tony Nancy appears in the movie as himself.
  4. Do some searching on net and I think that cab is available. I don't remember a kit being offered of that vintage semi but the cab is built off of the 67-72 GM body style. There were car hauler trailers available in kit form, do a search of eBay or some of the kit sellers (Modelroundup, Dean's Hobby Stop, Fred Sterns) as they might have that car hauler kit. I am not familiar with drive trains and frames but those wheels look like what is in some of the recently released truck kits and probably easier to use. Best of luck with your build. The real challenge will be building the kits to simulate the load on that trailer!
  5. I saw this yesterday at a HL and while it is nice to have, it doesn't compare to the truer to scale Don Mills treadplate. I also noticed that this product is only .010" thick and very thin and flimsy. I am not a rivet counter but there is a better treadplate out there, Don Mills.
  6. Wilbert, I started building models at age 8 and continued until I was about 17, when hormones and the curves of a woman replaced those of plastic cars. Over the ensuing 10 years or so I would check out models at stores but didn't really get back into it until I was 30. It was at lunch one day with a fellow "gear head" that we stumbled into a hobby shop and found the recently released AMT '62 Bel Air kit and I was back in the hobby ( as a side note, I started that kit and have yet to finish it!). Since then, I have bought and sold and traded probably 400 models and still try to build them when time allows. Now that I am 48, I find myself still buying kits and detailing items and occasionally I finish one! I mess up all the time and not just paint jobs. When I mess up, I think about what went wrong and it usually comes back to preparation or impatience! Yep, I said it, I get in a hurry and make mistakes! Either I don't check the fit or prep work on a kit or force something. My advise to you is to take your time, plan each build and not try to make a show winner on your first build, very few can pull that off! If you haven't picked up Donn Yost's DVDs, then that should be your first step in getting better paint jobs! Donn has broken down what some of us think is a complicated process and makes it easy to get a great paint job. Hang in there, some of us are destined to be great painters and win awards, others just love creating 1/25 scale versions of their dreams and having fun, which is what this hobby is all about!
  7. If you get the chance to watch the movie "Hollywood Knights" ( a classis movie for us car buffs), there is a character in the movie called Jimmy Shine. I can't remember the whole storyline but I think it may be a reference to his dad, not exactly sure.
  8. Very nice! Black is a hard color to build but you did a great job, nice and shiny and well detailed.
  9. Very nice and no, you are not the only one with more WIP than completed models! If I were to finish all of my WIP, then I would have to buy a couple more display cases or shelves for them!
  10. Don't forget Camp Swampy down in Jacksonville........First to Fight! ooorah!
  11. That rear wing must really help it hug the road at high speeds! As my Mother likes to say..."To each his own" .
  12. Your paint job came out so nice, maybe you could offer a few tips?? Like you, I am waiting for some low humidity days to hit the spray booth and try to get some color on that stack of kits in the corner! PS- I do hope you have picked up on my sarcasm, I have your DVDs and I think you have helped many improve their painting skills with them.
  13. Nice work there Donn! Question- How do you get it soooooo shiny?
  14. Saw something on the news the other day related to this topic and haven't taken the time to verify it but it mentioned that something like only 30% of the GM vehicles are actually manufactured or assembled in the US- the rest are either North American (Canada or Mexico) or overseas. If I get the time tonight, I may do a little research as to what percentage of "foreign" vehicles are built in the US versus the "domestic". So, the question is this- Is a Chevrolet that is "assembled in Mexico" using Mexican labor more beneficial to the US economy because the "profits" are kept in the US over a Toyota that is assembled in Kentucky and presumably the profits go to Japan?
  15. Is this the same Andy who had trouble with his airbrush not that long ago and now he is a winner in an INTERNATIONAL model contest???? Way to go young man and Donn Yost summed it up- BELIEVE in yourself!!!!!! Let us know about those freebies one gets as a winner, maybe you can get Stacey to fix up that old Chevy pickup for you!
  16. Rub it in Jonathan! Those folks up near the Grand Canyon know what a snow plow is!
  17. I am with Casey in that before I say "yes" , I would like to see what is being offered. There was someone offering some resin beds a while back that were very crude and not completely cast and not worth the time or money.
  18. One word for that build................Sleeper! Very well detailed and clean build.
  19. I know CrazyJim is watching Monday Night Raw so I will say it........Shiny! Nice job, I like the different wheels.
  20. Chuck, I would have to say that this kit will be closer to the stepside kit you built. I remember building this same truck years ago and it went together pretty well, much better than the 76 Street Machine. This should be a good seller, especially if the plow assembly is close to the real thing. I don't need more GMC pickup kits (got about 8 of the '84 MPC kits in various stages) but if this plow assembly is decent, I might have to save some lunch money and get a bunch or hope that Hobby Lobby stocks them and I can use the 40% off coupon!
  21. Do you still sell them Kevin or have you discontinued that part of your offering?
  22. Awesome paint jobs, even the satin black Merc! Nice details and thanks for sharing.
  23. Very Nice! Great color and well detailed.
  24. Nice concept, makes you wonder why Dodge didn't do a factory version. Those tires really set that off.
  25. If it is like the old MPC Jeep plow kits, then there are probably 4-6 pieces total for the plow assembly. The lack of a lifting mechanism can be overcome by finding some chain in jewelry section at Michaels. Either way, it has been 40 years since we have had a kit with a snow plow for a pickup truck!
