looks good from here! Nice to see a color not often done.

very nice! Dark colors can be difficult to pull off but you did a great job! great detailing on the engine and the lowered look with the big brakes/wheels is killer.

I like the way this one came out, clean and crisp! I have built a bunch of the Revell snap Camaro's and seem to be addicted to building them, not sure why?! I would love to have one of these in 1:1 but if I did it would most likely be a convertible as there seems to be poor visibility on the hardtop.

Going box stock for the Gearz contest or just tempting fate by building another Chevy? You got me interested, can't wait to see some progress!

Harbor Freight Score
mikemodeler replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I work for NAPA and this quarter they have a 3M respirator on sale for about $18.00 and combined with proper ventilation in your paint area it should be sufficient to protect your lungs. While the sale price is only a couple of bucks off the regular price, as others have noted it is well worth the price if you plan to live a long, healthy life. They also have some good latex gloves on sale as well and while everyone is concerned about breathing the fumes, the chemicals that are absorbed through the skin can be just as harmful as the airborne fumes. I suggest using gloves if you are mixing paint, especially lacquers, enamels or automotive grade paint. -
I ordered a few pieces and got them today and they are fantastic! The resin looks like regular styrene plastic, very crisp casting and NO flash! I bought the trailer hitch along with some wheels and the concrete blocks and I would swear that they are kit pieces and not resin! I highly recommend Scenes Unlimited as they gave me high quality product, fast service and easy to order!

Monty, If you need an exact match, either have a local paint store mix up a batch or contact MCW automotive finishes. They have it under their part number 7002 and sell it in 3/4 oz and 2 oz bottles. I have an old price list but you can go online to www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com to get current pricing and ordering information. HTH, Mike

MPG estimates vs. reality
mikemodeler replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I find this funny as i drive a V-6 Camry and regularly get 30 MPG driving in the Carolinas at speeds usually above the posted speed limit with several hundred pounds of sales materials in the trunk. I wonder what her burden of proof was to substantiate her claim of poor mileage? I would think she would have to have detailed gas receipts and mileage records. -
There is a swap meet coming up on February 18 in Salisbury NC. This is a great show to find some kits and there usually is a resin vendor or two there as well. I plan on going, been saving my lunch money!

nice work as always Tyrone! Those wheels make the car, no doubt.

Help with F350, planning and plotting
mikemodeler replied to Pakmule87's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
post some pictures of your Dad's truck and what you are looking for help on and I am sure the members here will be able to guide you in your quest to build the truck. The crew cab will have to be scratch built as there is not a cab on the market. The engine will have to be scratch built as well because there has not been a diesel engine in a pickup kit. The good news is that you have the truck there for reference, don't let the fact that you are getting back to building keep you from getting this done. -
Tamiya Paint?
mikemodeler replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just checked the Tower Hobbies website and they have 15 "car" colors in stock and probably 6 times that many colors either on order or temporarily out of stock. I am sure now that the label issue has been resolved, it will take awhile before everyone is fully stocked. -

International Harvester Scout
mikemodeler replied to 91blaze's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Add that body style to the list of "I wish that was available" for me! I remember an old neighbor had one of those Scouts and we would help him fix it and plow snow in the winter with him to make a couple extra bucks. Cargostar might be able to shed some light on this vehicle as he is a IH guru. He has been working on a Travelall and pickup so hopefully this could be in the works too! -
I give my hat down to the Navy SEALs.
mikemodeler replied to '08SEAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I totally agree with you Brad but unfortunately there are people in this country that feel differently. The recent uproar over the Marines urinating on dead Taliban soldiers as being inhumane was obviously viewed differently by those that have never served. The only mistake those Marines made was to post that video for others to see. I wonder who had the idea to make the movie about Seal Team 6 that will be released this summer, just in time for the Presidential Election? It is bad enough the grandstanding that went on last year but to further a politcal agenda by using the military is over the line for me. Semper Fi -

1962 Chevrolet Resin Bodies
mikemodeler replied to Fabrux's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Are you looking for a 62 Bel Air? AMT made a great kit back in the 90's and it should be available from eBay or one of the old kit sellers. The roofline is different from the Revell 62 Impala and is commonly called a bubbletop. -

Modelhaus 1964 Dodge D100 Pickup
mikemodeler replied to Terry Jessee's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Tell me that it will also have a chassis that can be built as a 4wd and I will buy two! I think these trucks scream for a 4wd chassis! -
any cast small ORVs out there ?
mikemodeler replied to 440 Dakota's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The Artic Cat snowmobile was (is) available in resin as well. I believe it is the one from the Revell Ice Patrol kit, might be available from Scale Equipment as well?
