Local Hobby Shp vs. Mega-Store

I do my best to support LHSs. I even go to them when in other states for work. The people are usually very friendly, knowledgeable. Just try to ask the little blonde workin the model/education/hobby/jewelry section of HL, What thickness styrene is the best to buy when scratch building anything? Watch her head get blown up and you can almost watch her mouth...styrene.....? -

How much BMF gets tossed?
Petetrucker07 replied to Fanof69's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd say that's about right. I try to be smart with what I use. I now waste at most a third. I don't want to chance ordering BMF and have it shipped. To easy for it to get damaged, maybe I'm over thinkin that part. But where I buy my BMF is either over an hour away at Pegasus or in Arizona at Hobby Depot when I'm out that way. So I can't just go get more and be back on the project in a few minutes. -
A little late for this explanation of the bottom dump and asphalt thing. Out here, they've steered away from dumping into the box on a spreader. They have a scraper/conveyor attachment that loads the box. Doing it this way, it cuts down on the stand by time of the trucks tremendously. They usually bring the hot mix, wind row it in front of the paver, go down a little bit to the chipping/grinding machine, load the grinding, then take that to the batch plant, dump it and reload with hot mix. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Nothing to say but.....WOW! -
I read that early today. Very sad. That's why NONE of my guns are stored loaded. The Eagles are having rough go. Hope the deaths slow down for a little bit. They're dropping like flies.

What would actually be cool, if they would reissue it with the Can-Do decals. -

Awesome job Ken. You really knocked this out quickly. I started the build off under glass thread. When you get a chance, post your 5 pics there if you wouldn't mind. -

Awesome! Finally, some modern Chevy truck stuff. -
Very nice. I really like what you did on this. Detailing is great. BMF work looks amazing.

I dusted this build off, started to check things. I discovered that there's a clearance issue with interior tub and the top of the motor. If I didn't have so many things going on personally, I would've tackled the problem. I instead changed my mind to the ol Detroit. Which in turn saves me a few more headaches. The exhaust will be much simpler, the intake will still be a project, but that's ok. The exhaust and intake setup is too cool, it's staying.

Rotator Wrecker Kits?

Or some other variation of the Will-Do would do great. I think it would be a good thing to see it released with a new decal sheet. -
When are you gonna do the tags? When is it too late to let you know?

I've been to the venue before, a week after the show last year. I was just worried that there might a bunch of people there and there wouldn't be enough space available to park the truck. I'm not familiar with that area. If it were down in Goodyear, I wouldn't have a problem. I'll figure something out, if things happen how I hope they will.

I'm gonna see if I can make arrangements with work to get me out there. All I need them to do is get me a backhaul that can deliver Monday morning. If I can get them to pull that off, I'll be there. I wonder how close I can get, parking wise, with a big truck? I'm sure that parking lot will be full. Maybe get there really early?

I totally forgot about this! I was out there Friday afternoon, but in Goodyear. There's a few things, just in that 1 pic of the 1:1 swap meet I could have picked up. Those Edelbrock aluminum heads, well, the glimspe of the end of one, i wouldnt have mind checking out since theyre for a small block Chevy. The intake directly in the middle of the pic is a Performer RPM, for a small block, that wouldve been snatch up without question. Man, I'm kickin myself for checking this section, I would've stopped by for sure.
