  1. Back in 1968 there were four of us living together in an apartment at University. Two of us had pulled out about halfway through the first semester after discovering we were in the wrong programs. So we decided to go on a trip around the US and Canada. We began looking for a cheap car and found a used 2CV. One evening, reinforced by a few beers , we figured we had enough left in our student loans to pay for our trip but not enough to buy the car. So we hit our respective parents for a temporary loan which we would repay upon selling the car at our return. It turns out the answer was pretty well the same from both parents :" Never mind a loan. You are going to take a job and earn your next semester". So that is as close as we got to owning a 2CV. Fast forward 40+ years I saw the Airfix model and had to buy it. So here we go. There was a broken part in what appears to be some linkage. It wasn't in the bag so it may be on the factory floor. I made one. This looks like it'll be a fun build.
  2. Love it. You did a much better job of Chevyfying the Ford roof than I did with mine. Beautiful work.

    my models

Beau travail Francesco. Very nice collection of Italian cars.
  4. One or two. And I've had the ones that take forever in the background from time to time. I alternate : one out of the box, a semiscratched or kitbashed, a couple of engines, somethging for the dio, a truck and so on.
  5. There it is alone and with its grandfather.
  6. Scale Equipment is the one you need: http://www.seltd.net/
  7. Thanks David. I find it is a good way to use up some of the junk stuff laying around while developing the fabrication skills at the same time. I like doing an engine between builds. it is a bit like sherbet, it cleanses the palate between courses.
  8. Working on the carb linkages. I have to buy some of the PE items. Much more realistic. Plumbing is done. wiring is next.
  9. There are some good videos on the product’s website:smooth-on.com
  10. I know, it's scruffy looking, but it does begin to look like a Hemi.
  11. Yes Mike, the Hobby Depot. Got my streets mixed up.
  12. That would be a special occasion indeed. However the odds of finding a 250 in the corner of a yard are pretty high. So you did an excellent job of potraying the impossible.
  13. Looks like we're close to the primer. right now it reminds me of the song 'A coat of many colors".
  14. David, is that rolls in your Diorama?
  15. Initially, since it was so small, I thought I'd mix up a gob of epoxy and put it in the mold.
  16. There, my first casting ever.
  17. OK, my second attempt at casting something. Made the mold with modeling clay. Poured some resin. that is awful stuff. It has isocyanates in it. You need all the PPE.
  18. I order thru email from Wheels & Wings Hobbies in the Big Smoke.Email: info@wheelswingshobbies.com. Thet put a stash together for me and when I decide I'm ready, he makes me a PayPal invoice and mails it. excellent service. ask for Ivan.they have a website wheelswingshobbies.com. Oh. 416.752.0071 . if the one you are referring to was the one on LaSalle, that was a great place. I had asked one of the daughters to notify me when they held their clearout sale but she must have forgotten.
  19. Thank you Bill. I was thinking of you when I was trying to figure whether there actually was a plenum like that one was. If my casting attempt goes haywire like the first one (the mold never took), i might just display this with open heads since the valve train detail is there. I'd put it in the back corner of the shop where all the goofs aren't too visible.
  20. I found this old hemi in the junkpile. By the looks of the bell housing it must have come from a dragster. It only has one valve cover. I found another one but it is different. the one on it looks more "correct". I will attempt my first casting, assuming my stuff is still good. I decided to see if I could do something with it. I posted this in case some of the members might be interested. For a front cover/water pump, I'm loosely copying that of a 426 Max Wedge I have in the stash. I also found a cross ram manifold but it appears to have the plenums reversed. I looked on the web to see if there were plenums in both configurations but it doesn't appear so. I cut it apart and put it back together to look like that of the Max Wedge.
  21. Love it. And i love your background too. always looking for new stuff. That partially raised door gives it some "life".
  22. Six inches of snow. just finished clearing the driveway. Nap time.
  23. Tanks everyone for the kind comments. On to the next one....
