  1. That will be a beauty. I can only imagine its size in the real world.
  2. Anyone care to guess what this assemblage of seemingly unrelated parts will become?
  3. That's right, it looks the part. You nailed it.
  4. Sergey, the tailpipes are this tall because this truck will pull a car transporter full of classic cars. The idea is that the soot will fly over the cars rather than at them. But yes, they ARE tall.
  5. Mitch, the brake lines are 26 GA wire and the fuel line is 24 GA. Both come from the jewelry/beading section of stores. The 24 was Walmart. the other one may have been Michaels. As far as the black, this was my inspiration, and you are right, there is a bit of black shoeing on the inside. This will be continued here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/97646-background-diorama-flatheads-to-boxers-engine-rebuilders/?page=6#comment-1618176
  6. There. I'll put five in the BRBO under glass however once I have a chance to do it again outside I'll likely replace them.
  7. Lovely Dan. This makes me want to start on mine.
  8. I think it is the bacon car.
  9. Added mirrors, parking lights, horns, etc. Working on the trailer connectors. Had to make some wipers since I can't find those that were with the kit and the Snap Pete's are too large. The following two are for Dan. They actually open & close.
  10. Here's a couple more views.
  11. Thanks guys.Started adding stuff,.
  12. After a bit of weathering. Will add some crud and maybe more tools.I need to check that leaning rear wheel. Funny how you notice stuff in photographs that you missed altogether.
  13. Here is a bit of a preview. I'm not happy with the color of the "steel". I may have to try it again with a lighter base. This is more what I'm looking for as far as color and texture goes.
  14. Made a jig to bend some rod to make a work stand. At the same time, I practiced working with the Uschi Van der Rosten powders to get a bare steel look. The fender will go on the workstand.
  15. OOps. I'm a bit late. we'll see.
  16. Thanks guys for the nice words. Now is decision time. Do I go the salt route to make some rust specks & runs or do I go the full rust coverage with grime, streaks and stains added after? After looking at some on the web, I think that the second option would meet the goal more nicely as 1951 is 65 years of gime to collect. There wouldn't be much black showing anymore.
  17. Completed the brake & fuel lines. The chassis will have some mismatched wheels with old tires on rusty drums to keep it mobile while the "good" wheels are getting restored.
  18. Working at adding brake & fuel lines. All this to paint them rust later.
  19. The paint is curing. Fighting hard to resist handling it. That probably is my worst habit, not waiting long enough.......smudges, fingerprints.
  20. Super!!!!And with matching background no less.
  21. Beautiful work on all three Douglas. Looks like a parts stash that might make a lot of people drool.
