  1. -Finished the spark plug wires on the engine. Added the first layer of belts and the oil filter. Added the exhaust manifolds. Before I go any further I want to add a couple of vacuum lines. -Cut a new windshield out of an acetate sheet. Made the patterns for the side and back glass. Glued the other hood hinge. -Started painting the frame. Once it is dry, I'll flip it over and paint the underside. -Still waiting for opinions and suggestions on which blue to use and what color to paint the wheels.
  2. Can this shape be cast at home with simple, basic equipment?
  3. Added two more blues, Testor's 1110 & 1108, shot with my new airbrush. Tried to find a workable location for the hood hinges. Looks like tis is it. Made a second valve cover breather out of tubing & hex rod. There was only one with the engine. Wired a distributor , drilled the motor and inserted boots.
  4. Joe, are you giving it back to your little brother?
  5. Looks like I'm the first one to say "Youdonner!" Beautiful, simply beautiful.
  6. These are the blues I have. I might go browse the shelves at the store to see if I can't find another shade. I prefer the one on the left. Threw a bit of primer at the frame.
  7. thanks JT, I'll give that a try.
  8. Once the engine and cab support crossmembers were finalized I made a transmission support out of some channel. Also made some new hangers for the rad as it hangs quite a bit lower. I used some "Ontario license plate blue" I had mixed from a scan several years ago thinking "I have it, so might as well use it". The darn stuff doesn't seem to want to dry. It is still sticky after 4 days.Any ideas, suggestions?
  9. Dan, look at the photo in post # 52 and you will see some stress applied to the vent window frame by the clamp. Well, it broke. Not only that, the retaining strip I had glued to the inside of the roof hadn't dried completely and the window stuck to it. I ripped it trying to remove it. So back to square one. At least I still have the pattern.
  10. Likely one of the Mustangs. Maybe this one. By the way, anyone remember what it was? IMSA?
  11. I just hope I don't forget something until it is too late. Lotsa stuff to think about at this stage.
  12. With the body centered on the wheels, I played with the front crossmember and the rear cab support to locate the engine. If the air filter is to clear the firewall, the rad is too close. The grille has a lot of "meat" so I gouged out a recess for the rad. Looks like it will work. The other alternative would have been to recess the firewall/toeboard thus restricting the driving to drivers under 5 feet.
  13. I was just notified by Photobucket that I was exceeding my allocated "bandwitdh" which is the Juice required to post and view the photos. I had to upgrade it for some cash, of course. I still had a lot of storage room apparently, but if your site is busy you need more bandwidth.
  14. I second everything above.
  15. The truck will be blue. what clor should I put the wheels? Most photos I've seen of N600's had black wheels. I was thinking red. Would that be too garish?
  16. Got the engine and started assembling it. It IS a big boy, it dwarfs the y-block which is shown for comparison.
  17. The 534 for my Ford N-600 race car hauler. I was lucky in finding the engine by itself. Didn't have to buy a C-600 to get it.
  18. Started scratchbuilding an engine leveler to put on the hoist I got from Scale Equipment. Turned the tire rack into some shelving. Who ever heard of a tire rack in an engine shop anyway?
  19. Continued working on the Y-block. Attempted to duplicate the wiring in the photo below but not so neat. Practised my paint over foil. This motor has a "floating" generator so I improvised a "bracket" using some leftover PE from the Mustang's set.
  20. It's not too late Michael. In fact the project is on hold until I get the engine. I need that to finalize the location of several items. Is your video one of the ones in the Tips section?
  21. Thanks Bill, that answers my question. I was wondering if they were end to end or separated by a stub shaft.
  22. I've looked all over the internet to find photos of a dual transmission set up without finding any. there are some of the units individually but could not find any of them in situ in a frame. I'm looking for a 5-4 setup in a Chevy or GMC of the 60's.
