  1. Great looking rod Chris! Tasty combo of parts and stance, and I like the steering shaft angle and the notch for the box in the frame rail. Looking forward to seeing your progress on this cool piece!
  2. I really like your colour choices! Very cool car!
  3. I like your idea of the maroon and black! Unfortunately, there is no up top in this kit. Thanks for the suggestions though.
  4. I would like to paint it 2-tone, but haven't decided what colours. It really should have a sophisticated finish IMO . I looked this car up on google, but nothing jumped out colour wise. This car has a very imposing look, even in scale! Thanks for your interest!
  5. How can you build such a terrific looking model in a weekend? Very nice indeed!
  6. Well, after seeing a couple others here interested in the old classics, I dug this outa' the stash. Started a number of years ago, but didn't get too far. It screams for whitewalls, but I would mess them up for sure. Then yesterday, I spotted the AMT '32 Chrysler at Dave's Hobby and grabbed it! Turns out that it has whitewall inserts, but the '33 rims fit! This looks sooo nice mocked up! Think I might move this to the front of the pile. Thanks for the inspiration guys!
  7. Don't want to steal your thunder, but because of this thread, I'm seriously considering getting back at my '33 Chrysler phaeton. I picked up a '32 Chrysler by AMT yesterday, and it has the tires I wanted for the '33, even though they're different scales..REALLY close! ( I'm no good at painting whitewalls!) After seeing your haul, I just got excited about another classic for my shelf! Told you I was interested in your build!
  8. My eyesight isn't that great but O.K. with the octovisor which I've used for a long time. Just wish I could locate my enthusiasm to build! I'm a few months short of being 70.
  9. Couple of days ago, picked up the new Revell '30 coupe, and also the Laurel and Hardy "T". Just more stuff for the stash!
  10. Always have loved the look of Cragers.......just classic to me. But I'm mostly fond of "Pro Stars"! I think they're made by Weld Wheels.
  11. Great looking car! Nice to see these classics from that period and yours is sweet!
  12. Fooled me at first...I thought it was 1:1! Great engine compartment...lots of small details. I used to own one and loved it!
  13. I'm thinking of starting this as my next project. Despite the differences in scale (body in 1/24 and frame etc. in 1/25), has anybody here done this, and what issues did you encounter? It looks pretty close in the mock up.
  14. I have always been a car guy since I was around 5. I had no family members that cared about cars or how to repair them. As far back as I can remember, cars were just cool things. I can't explain how I felt when I saw my first hot rod ( a "T" bucket ) in my small city, but I was blown away! It was called "The Roamin' Chariot"! My family were poor and couldn't afford a car, but I would ride my bicycle to the local car club, and stand by the door and love what I observed going on! Guys building hot rods 1:1! So when models became available, I cut grass and shovelled snow for pocket change so I could go to the store to buy a kit. Then I could build cars too! Over the years I have built a few fairly good cars, some average cars and some real trash. I've won a few trophies and plaques when I discovered there were contests and tried to improve as a builder as I went along. After winning a couple of big awards, I felt that I had proven to myself that I was an O.K. builder. Since then, I build things that I think are cool and sometimes challenging, but I have loved this hobby on so many levels for a long time, whether I am pleased with the finished result or not. It's a hobby that can help keep your mind active and it gives a really good feeling when you finish something that you know you've put a lot of thought and effort into. I admire a lot of the builders I've met personally, and some here online. Really awe inspiring work! Now to get back to the multiple projects I have on the bench instead of goofing off!
  15. Very different and quite colourful!
  16. Now, that's really nice! Everything lines up so nicely. I could go on and on, but you gotta know I love it!
  17. Nice little hot rod! You 're very good at chopping tops I must say!
