  1. Just got the floor care in from online, sanded the tail light with 1500 grit til it was smooth, washed it, then brushed on some floor care and so far the results look great! Going to wait for it to dry to see the final outcome. Thank you again for helping me save my tail light!

  3. Can't wait to see this build!
  4. I have also made the mistake of trying rustoleum paint. Same deal as the primer, sprays to much for a model in my opinion. If you're looking for a good "off the shelf" can to spray stick with duplicolor products. I am by no means a master at painting, I am still very new to the hobby, but I have experimented with paint brands and I have had good results with duplicolor products and have seen some great models painted with duplicolor on this forum. Here is an example of a hood I painted with duplicolor products.
  5. I had this problem also on one of my first models. The primer goes on way to thick in my opinion as well. Covers to much to fast and is not good for models. I switched to Duplicolor Sandable Primer and am very very happy with the outcome. It is a much easier spray to control. Rustoleum was difficult for me.
  6. I use Duplicolor for my models and from my personal experience Testors clear coat as well as Rustoleum Acrylic Enamel clear coat give good results. The Rustoleum is a thicker clear coat and really only needs 2 coats and works great (very tough stuff). I know I'm cross breeding products but I have had good results with both. I have also heard good things about the "newer" Duplicolor clear coat as well. I simply haven't tried it yet because I still have a full can of both the Testors and Rustoleum . Once those are empty I will most likely give the Duplicolor a try.
  7. Tom - I'll send you a pm with more questions on your fan. Thank you
  8. Thanks! I'll look for a 120cfm fan from Home Depot or Lowes at an affordable price. For the booth itself I'm just going to use a large plastic bin so I can move it around if need be. But the poster board is a good idea!
  9. Has anyone else had good success with bathroom fans in they're paint booths?

This thing is sweet! Great build
  11. Heroncustom - I will be sending you a pm about your booth later today! Jwrass - I am a younger modeler (23) just getting back into it since a very very young age. I am employed and do have a degree, but the time being staying with my parents still works and plus I save a good amount of money (instead of wasting it on rent, I would rather pay a mortgage) for when I do decide to buy a house. Anyways, Thank you for the welcome! I always turn to this forum for advice, tips, and to see peoples amazing builds that boggle my mind! This is a great model building community, and I hope to see some of your projects as well!
  12. Tom - That really is a very impressive setup. I would love to have that one day but currently a smaller one ( about large plastic bin size) would be ideal. (Still live with parents). Nonetheless I hope to one day be able to have a set up similar to yours.
  13. you have got my attention on this one! looking forward to seeing this build
  14. Looks good! Would you mind me asking what kind if fan you are using to suck up the fumes and over spray? I am looking to build a booth for myself soon hopefully!
  15. I did not know that, thank you for the advice! Is there anyway you would be able to share how you fit the bilge fan to work with your booth? That would be very very helpful! Thank you again!
  16. Did the search but would like it to be small enough to fit behind the plastic bin, a bathroom fan would be ideal in size.
  17. If it didn't fall apart at least once then it wasn't a true Lancia! On another note, color choice is great and love how you did the interior. Great build, looking forward to more builds from you.
  18. So I went ahead and gave it a polish with my LMG kit. Started with a good wash. Let it dry, and began. Started with 6000, then 8000, finished with 12000 After 12000 I put the LMG swirl remover and gloss finish on the car, topped it off with some Mothers car wax and I am very happy with the outcome. Thank you everyone who helped me out today! Very happy with the outcome!
  19. I use duplicolor straight from the can. I believe it is acrylic lacquer. I also use a generic flat black enamel for the chassis and smaller items (walmart has a brand for 96 cents a can that works great.) for clears I either shoot testers lacquer clear OR rustoleum acrylic lacquer clear (tough stuff, I'm a fan) Finding a fan that is safe for those paints would be great. Starting to second guess my choice of fan!
  20. Great, thank you! And yes the LMG kit came a scratch filler and a polish. I'll try going with the 6000 first on a small section and see the outcome before I attack the entire body.
  21. Snake - those look great! would you mind me asking where you recommend starting with the polishing pad grit?
  22. This is better news than I expected! The body seems solid, in my eyes at least. Here is a picture of the body. What grit do most start at with a body that's not painted to receive a good shine?
  23. Belugawrx - Thank you for the link. many good points were brought up especially about starting fires which is clearly not on my list of priorities . I did not really think about the paints vapors and overspray being able to start fires. I'm going to have to keep doing more research I would really like a safe paint booth but do not want to spend $100+ on a booth. Fastback340 - http://www.amazon.com/Broan-Model-688-Ventilation-Grille/dp/B00004TTZZ/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1424016040&sr=8-8&keywords=exhaust+fan+bathroom This was the fan I was thinking of purchasing. It does not say if it brushless or not and I am most certainly not trying to start any fires. MeatMan - Thank you for the advice, That is probably the best idea and see what other people use with paint booths they made. Also spraying from a can is different than an airbrush of course. That being said, what set up are you currently using? Did you make a paint booth for yourself?
  24. Hello everyone! So I recently started a new project and I actually really like the color the mold came in. The kit is the Tamiya Morris Mini and the molded body is green. Now I would love to keep it this shade of green. I do plan on doing the roof a gloss white. I have the LMG polishing kit and was wondering if sanding the body from around 4000grit-12000grit will help bring out more color in the mold. Has anyone ever polished a body out of the box before? Or should I just prep the body for paint and paint it a similar color? Any advice, input, or ideas would be great! Thanks all Steve
