Very nice! Your chromework is particularly excellent. Well done and model on!

Right on schedule!

For some reason it reminds me of those Marx "playsets" of my childhood. You can see it here: http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=70942&sid=f91810b01094aa2707c0cffb93a7d1a7

Raked '66 Impala on '67 Rally wheels? Yes please! Totally badass! What's not to like? Drive on!
-
Very cool, thanks for posting it! I've never seen this model but I'll keep my eyes open for one. This isn't my favorite car and not one I'd spend any effort modeling but this would be an easy way to fill that slot on my shelf. Also good to know that Hugger Orange is a good match for Calypso Coral, as I was planning to use it on a '69 Cougar Eliminatior. Well done and model on!

She hasn't posted since last Christmas--almost a year.

SWEET score! I'd strip it and polish up the lovely green plastic.

Removing lettering from a diecast

You can thank Madhorseman. He's the guy who turned me on to the trick and I've used it and passed it along many times and give him full credit. -
I thought that was the name, but wasn't sure. Where are you, Michelle?
-
There's such a person, but that's not whom I was thinking of.

There was a woman on here not long ago who was doing a good deal of building, and she was getting better all the time. Can't remember her name and come to think of it, haven't seen her post in a few weeks.

Repainting die cast car

I'm going to a toy show this weekend. I'll keep my eye out for one. Can't be real hopeful, but you never know--that's where I bought my green one. Meanwhile, I'll reach out to a friend who might have one. -
Mine had that around this time last year. Same kits you could get at Hobby Lobby, but at higher prices (considering HL's 40% off coupon). I didn't end up buying a single one.

What’s the best 56 Chevy kit???
Snake45 replied to 2zwudz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
There's three of them on there right now, new in box, the cheapest of which is $35 BIN. Not exactly what I'd call "dear," especially if I'd wanted one for a year. I also found "completed" at least four that have sold in the last 60 days for $25 or less. -
So it turns out Motor Max does an orange one (like the yellow one I saw a Walmart about a month ago). Welly has red and yellow. This weekend is the local toy show, followed by my monthly visit to the Rite Aid in the next town. If I don't find one (in any color) at Walmart Saturday, or the toy show or Rite Aid on Sunday, I'll order the orange one from DMW, which has a 10% off sale going on till midnight Sunday.

Are they rare? Glad I grabbed a couple a while back. If they're rare, you'd think it would be a good candidate for a resissue. -
I'd love to do a late model Charger, but no one does one in plastic. They're available in diecast, but I want to convert it to a 2-door, which will be much more difficult in diecast, especially since it has opening front doors (which would have to be lengthened). Sigh.

Repainting die cast car

Your M2 Mustang is a fine model. I have two of them, one in a medium blue (lighter than you need) and another in dark green. They might have issued them in dark blue, I don't know, but I've seen other colors too. I see the one you have has the "Thunderbolt" teardrop hood. Did the real car you're trying to model have that? A nice diecast was also made by Johnny Lightning. And they did it in dark metallic blue, too, and it doesn't have the Thunderbolt hood. I have one of these in silver and another in dark green and they're very nice--almost as nice as the M2s. If you're trying to get this done by Christmas (less than three weeks away), you might want to try to track down a blue Johnny Lightning. Here's a good review of it done by our own Spencer 1984. http://www.spencer1984.com/review/johnny-lightning-1965-mustang.php -
Biggest pet peeves on builds.
Snake45 replied to LL3 Model Worx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I hope not. (Lock.) And somewhat like your imagined build, I want to someday do a '49 Merc custom with every modification, addition, and color that I consider hideous eyesores, and see how many positive comments I get on it. I'm betting it would be a LOT. -
Congrats and welcome to Skylark World! That looks like a pretty complete resin kit. I dunno if there's much in the dirt tracker you'll be able to use, especially if you're trying to upgrade the engine and chassis. Engine from AMT '66 Riv would be generally good, but no '66 Skylark came from the factory with dual 4-barrels. Here's a link to a WIP I started some time ago, just since it looks like you want to do a good job on this. Might be some useful info for you. One big eyesore on the AMT body needs to be fixed, and this is on every annual, promo, craftsman, dirt tracker, and resin copy I've ever seen. There is a bulge along the upper edge of the left side front fender and door. It's not on the right side, which is correct. Look down both body sides from the front and you can see what I mean. Fortunately, it's not too difficult to file and sand this body line back to straight, or straighter. In this pic, the area in question is right over the red line.

So, still inaccurate for a '60s build. True. But that firing order will look sufficiently "busy" enough that most people won't bother to try to sort it out. They'll just see it's NOT "hair parted in the middle." -

Don't forget the Parted Hair Look, where all the wires on the left side of the engine come (in order) from the left side of the distributor and vice versa! (Yes I realize there are aftermarket distributor caps now that will actually do this.) Repeat after me: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2! It really ain't that hard to do!
