I recently built a diecast kit that had only two screws at the rear part of the chassis. The front end is held in place by a couple of tabs on the front of the (plastic) chassis that fit into the firewall on the (metal) body. Pretty clever. Perhaps your diecast is put together in somewhat the same way.

Very, VERY cool! Would easily qualify for membership in my imaginary late '70s-early '80s car club, The Retrobates. Well done and model on!

Even worse are their internal shoppers, filling carts for curbside pickup. The carts they're filling are the size of minivans. If there are two of these in an aisle, you can simply forget about getting through that aisle for while.

Fishing line for use as pin stripe material?
Snake45 replied to swede70's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I know that at least some colors of Sharpie can, with the passage of time, "migrate" up (bleed) through clear coats of all kinds, and even solid paints. It's hard to believe until you've seen it happen. I wouldn't use Sharpie for this, only paint of some kind. -
Maybe, maybe not. Maybe you can piece something together from the dirt tracker hood. (I forget exactly what's in that.)

Chris, did you see the note I left you about the AMT Skylark on the last page?

Police cars aren't supposed to be crashed into. They're designed to crash into other cars.

I've bought several bottles of that, now called just "Teal," and long suspected that it's identical to the former Model Master Chezoom Teal. Thanks for confirming. I've also long thought that it would make a satisfactory substitute for 1967 Chevrolet Tahoe Turquoise and and similar mid-60s GM turquoise colors. Thanks for confirming that, too. I'm planning to use it on several builds (laying it over black primer to darken it a hair).

I have one of those. I think it's a Jimmy Flintstone. As you say it's a little crude but far from the worst resin body I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure I can work with it.

Snake45 replied to stitchdup's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Frog and AMT had a co-marketing deal going in the late '60s/early '70s. AMT sold some of their 1/72 airplanes here, in AMT boxes. I had their B-26 Marauder. At the same time, AMT was doing the same thing with Hasegawa with some 1/72 jets. -

There's also an inexpensive Welly 1/24 diecast of this car that's pretty darn nice for the price ($10 at Rite Aid). I've seen it available in red and in silver. If you want a model of this car on your shelf but don't want to build one, the Welly is a darn good alternative. -
I appreciate the kind offer. Just did some research and found out that the "lower grille" on those is just body-colored sheetmetal, not another open grille section like the "top" as I assumed it would be. Shouldn't be too hard to scratchbuild, certainly not worth the horrendous postage/shipping from Scotland, though as I said I do appreciate your very thoughtful offer.

Great review, thanks for sharing! I have several books from Motorbooks and they're all very good, well worth the money if you're seriously interested in the subject matter. -
Yeah. That thing was SO flammable that when Dateline NBC tried to replicate the carnage on film, they finally had to set the inferno off with a model rocket motor. One of the first documented cases of "fake news."

Fishing line for use as pin stripe material?
Snake45 replied to swede70's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yeah. I have a couple sheets of their various stripes and some of them are pretty fine, but I forget exactly how fine. If it were me, I'd be tempted to just ignore that fine stripe, but I know that's not your way. If I HAD to do it, I'd mask off and paint the stripe. I'd razor-cut two strips of masking tape, lay them on the model just that >< far apart, and airbrush the stripe. It also might work to try the same thing on clear decal film--mask and airbrush your stripe onto the film. You needn't cut the decal that thin, you can leave it at an easily handled width. -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Snake45 replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Still making progress on this. Got the rest of the body color-sanded, and now have the front end polished out. Have started on the chassis. Broke down the glue bomb Chevelle and '64 GTO I bought to complete this build. Tore the Chevelle engine apart, cleaned it up, repainted the block. Started trying to fit it into the GTO chassis. What a nightmare! Found out it's gonna take major re-engineering to get the Chevelle's side-exit headers into the GTO chassis. MUCH filing, cutting, fitting-and-trying involved. More work than I thought. Oh well, still have about three weeks to GITTER DONE. -

Hi Steve. Why are you posting all your stuff in this guy's thread about the AMT Mercedes kit? -
Today at the toy show, I got a Federated '64 GTO and a Maisto C5 Z06 Corvette hardtop, both new in the box, $15 each. Not boad And I just ordered from DMW an orange 2017 Vette, red '79 Vette, and Jada '67 Impala. Had never heard of or seen the last one before, but it looks good in pictures. Yeah, it's Jada, so I won't be surprised if it's oversized, but it fits in the standard box and it's an Impala, so how over-big could it be? It can keep my Greenlight Supernatural Impala company on the shelf.

I have their '66 Corvette. I'm gonna put it on a VW chassis and turn it into a kit car/dune buggy, and call it the Poor-vette. -
Thanks. The hood is the big thing. I can rig up something for the back end. Now, to think of something to do with it....

Good progress! What will you have left over from the SC/Rambler after your harvest? I have one in need of a few parts.... -
Toy show day. Got a glue bomb JoHan '68 Plymouth cop car that seems to be missing only the lower grille, plus a '78 Dodge 2-door cop car missing a couple parts, for $5 (for both). Figgered the Plymouth would make good swap bait, I think some here are always looking for them. Got a '64 GTO diecast for $15.

I just bought a glue bomb one of these at the toy show (probably a Force 440). It's missing the hood, rear bumper, maybe a couple other little things. Am I correct to assume I can complete it using parts from Joker Goon car?
