  1. These came last week but just now had the chance to sneak 'em into the house and take a look at them. The 2019 Vette looks nice--looks a bit big in the box but the wheelbase is shorter than a 2016 Camaro so maybe it's right. The '79 Vette also looks good. The '67 Impala looks better than I expected. It's about the same overall size as a couple 1/25 '65 Impalas I happen to have on the workbench, and the wheelbase is actually a little shorter. Doesn't look like it will take much more Snake-Fu than a black wash in the grille, and maybe on the wheels. The Marina Blue paint is nice. The tires are skinny but of a nice diameter. Overall I'm pretty pleased with it and don't regret gambling on its purchase. Pics up soon, I hope.
  2. I think I might have seen this at Walmart and like many Jada cars, it's pretty big.
  3. Not sure I would have phrased exactly like that.... Around 2002, at a model airplane club of all places, I bought for $15 a cleanly built first issue MPC '67 GTO, from when the body was still straight. One of these days I'm gonna strip and rebuild it, and paint it glossy black just to make y'all cry.
  4. Somebody does the Maverick in resin, I forget who. But I just saw it online a couple or three weeks ago. IIRC they also have a 4-door version.
  5. Ricky Duran does a decent cover of Tom Petty's "Runnin Down a Dream" on Monday night's The Voice. This cat can straight-up shred on guitar, too.
  6. I managed to carve a decent looking model out of the '67 GTO, but I'll be the first to admit it was 40 miles (hours) of bad road. As to the Revell '34 Ford, I've tried several times and it always ends up back in the box. I think I'm gonna end up making a rat(-ish) rod out of it by putting its body on a '32 Ford "Switchers" frame.

He said it's the snapper kit.
  8. Hey, at least he said something nice about your model, and posted a picture of the same subject. There's a couple guys on here who will threadjack you by posting a picture of some completely different model they'd rather talk about, and without so much as a reach-around! Nice model, by the way.
  9. That's a generous offer. She looks more high-maintenance than the car.
  10. Since we're excluding Palmer.... I recently dug a reissued MPC '69 Firebird out of the Snakepit and thought I could slap it together without too much trouble. After spending two evenings looking carefully at the body and doing some starter work on it, I threw it back in the box as "unbuildable." Yah, I know, a lot of these have been built, but not to my standards. And my standards are pretty darn low.
  11. Very cool project! I'll be watching as I have one of JF's '72 Elky bodies and am interested to see if you have any problem installing the glass. Drive on!
  12. There's one you don't see every day! Drive on!
  13. Very cool project! At some point I'm gonna have to build one of DD's Mavericks. I might chicken out and do the car that was briefly in overall red with little lettering.

    2019 builds.

    Sweet! Love that badass GTO!
  15. And the words "sank" and "shrank" have almost completely disappeared, replaced by "sunk" and "shrunk" used incorrectly. And don't even get me started on persona pronouns. "They gave he and I a hard time about it."
  16. This would have been good information about 35 years ago.
  17. The roof doesn't look right on the Bandit piece. It might be possible to alter the C-pillars/quarter windows to a better shape, I don't know. Time Machine Resin (TMR on eBay) does a nicely shaped '69 coupe, but it doesn't come with rear glass, which is a real problem with this car, as it is not a simple curve.
  18. Magnificent! I want to do one in this color someday, but a 6-Pack. Well done and model on!
  19. I have a cheap '63 Vette in metallic red that's exhibiting "rash" under the paint. Only problem I've seen so far (knock wood, or styrene, or potmetal).
  20. There goes some now!
  21. Car Craft being terminated? Oh, the humanity.... Walmart just started carrying it again! ETA: CAZART, they're killing 19 magazines in all, including Musclecar Review and Hot Rod Deluxe! The horror! THE HORROR! https://www.foxnews.com/auto/motortrend-discontinuing-19-automotive-magazines
  22. It's a rescue glue bomb I repainted and upgraded. (Rare for me--I never repaint "rescues," saving that for full rebuilds.) When I got it, the license plate frame was installed upside down. And the taillights were glued on the OUTSIDE of the body! I repositioned both correctly, and thought it would be fun to leave the license plate as-installed as a reminder of its humble glue bomb origins. So there.
  23. Looking good! If you think you can get it done by the end of the year, why not join Round 5 of the great Bring Out Your Dead Completion Build?
