  1. Good, clean build! Paint the grille black and it'll be perfect!
  2. FINALLY mine came today! Of course the first thing I did was look for your car in it. Nice Caddy hearse!
  3. Those builtups look pretty clean. If I had them, I'd just "rescue" them with a little Snake-Fu and let them stand as time capsules. Very cool!
  4. Isn't that already in the Motion kit? Thought it was. I'll have to doublecheck....
  5. Worst thing about that kit is that all the panel lines are very wide and very shallow. They look bad but I can't come up with a way to improve them that doesn't involve filling them in and completely rescribing them. The very idea makes my brain hurt.
  6. I never saw one at my HL--or anywhere else for that matter. To this day I've never seen that kit in the flesh. I did pick up three copies of the '29 roadster when they were available, though....
  7. Yes they did (probably still do, but I can't get it locally anymore) and it's lovely stuff. I've used it for '67 Chevy Marina Blue, '69 Chev Lemans Blue and similar medium metallic blues.
  8. 1. Boxes of cheap plastic spoons. 2. Yard signs, like FOR SALE and that sorta thing. Cheap, but not guaranteed to be kit-grade styrene. 3. The underside of interior tubs and the topside of chassis of kits--along with, of course, sprues.
  9. So, no '67 Impala 4-door, then?
  10. Now I see your original pic. Oh my, that's MUCH darker! We're getting down close to Arctic Blue territory!
  11. Beautiful work! I seem to have accidentally started a small collection of vintage sports cars and you're making me want to track down one of these and build it. Well done and model on!
  12. I can't see your picture. ETA: So I did some google-imaging and found Lola T70s in just about every shade of blue, but none as light as Pontiac Engine Blue. Take a look at Testor/Model Master Nassau Blue. It's very similar to several of the Lolas I saw.
  13. No, but somebody does do a resin hood for the '69 Cuda with that scoop. I bought a couple of them last year. I think there are at least two resincasters who make '69 Road Runner hoods with that scoop.
  14. And they did it three times and still never quite got it right!
  15. Don Greer box art! And if I'm not mistaken, he did the box art for the new issue, too. (He's still doing work for Round 2.) Just noticed, the front tires on the Pro Stock Camaro above are very wrong. Pro Stocks wouldn't have run front tires that wide. But maybe he had to do it that way because only wide tires and slicks were in the box, so I'm willing to cut slack.
  16. Aha! There ya go. Even if you CAN get a smooth "effortless" finish, it's good to know how to sand and polish out paint boogers, as they WILL happen.
  17. I think the only musclecar maker who never used them was Pontiac. Oh wait, maybe Buick, although I think Motor Wheel made their Gran Sport wheels, too.
  18. Agree completely. "There are many paths to the top of the mountain," and unless and until one finds that sure, smooth path, most of us will have to slog up the slow, rough way.
  19. I've bought maybe a dozen CDs in the last 10 years. Last year I was all set to buy Cher's new album of ABBA covers for The Lovely Mrs. Snake for Christmas, because I really liked what I'd heard of them, and then she went and shot her big stupid mouth off in public about something or other and I decided she didn't need a dime of my money. (Cher, that is, not TLMS. )
  20. In this brochure they were just called Super Stock but shown is what you describe as the IIs.
  21. Just looked at the original '68 showroom brochure. Not a Mag 500 to be seen anywhere on anything, though lots of the "Super Stock" wheels, even highlighted on the optional equipment page. Of course showroom literature cannot be considered a definitive reference. If factory brochures were to be believed, for example, Chevy would have never built any L78 375-hp Novas or Camaros. But of course we know they did--lots of them.
  22. After you get your polishing done, you can mask off your nice shiny paint and shoot the flat black with either a clear matte coat or just more flat black.
