Absolutely beautiful! Your wheel & tire choice and "sit" are perfect. In fact, it's difficult to imagine a more perfect build of this model. Well done and model on!

I dug out a MPC '69 Firebird kit the other night (reissue), figgering I'd just do the "hip surgery" on it, make my other normal body improvement mods, slap a coat of Hugger Orange on it, and toss it on the shelf. After looking at it for about 10 minutes, I decided that the body is even worse than I've thought. I'd also have to reshape the front fender top line and the drip rails. And then all the panel lines (trunk, doors, etc.) are VERY shallow and thus about five times harder to rescribe/deepen than they should be, and all the body scripts and trim are also shallow and probably won't survive paint. Frankly, I don't like the '69 Firebird enough to go through all that, when I have dozens of other projects I really want to do waiting patiently on me. Revell needs to give us a '69 Firebird snapper like their '69 Camaro. Give us the body, we'll take it from there.

The forward-facing headers are something I've never seen before.

You mean like this? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA! Thanks for sharing this!

I think it's the same one at upper right in your pic. I think all I'll be doing to it is black-washing the grille and maybe sanding the tire treads. I don't think the headlights even need to be "white-stemmed." I think the tan interior might not be right (the pics I've could find seem to show light gray/black interiors) but I'm not gonna re-do all that right now.

Measured it last night and based on wheelbase, it's 1/24.4, which is good with me. (That thing must have been TINY.) Will probably be one of my very next Snake-Fu projects, not that it looks like it needs much.

Wow, VERY clean build and great color! Well done and model on!

And now they are actually appearing IN THE MIDDLE OF A POST! That's going TOO FAR. I'm not currently running an ad blocker (obviously), but if this keeps up, I'm getting one.

Coating old decals

Micro Superfilm. Ask for it by name. It's that good. -
Paste toothpaste for polishing.

Agree completely. These days I use only Wright's Silver Cream silver polish for plastic AND paint and couldn't be happier. -
That's pretty cool! Haven't seen that one yet.

Yah, I've seen those on ePay being touted as "special limited edition box" and so forth. Asking price seems to be a few dollars more than the regular one.

I'd think so. Anything that would cut the power cord would take out the chop saw.

Mine looks just like that, except it's a blue similar to Petty Blue or Ford Grabber Blue. Meanwhile, found out the Burago Ferrari I got is a 250 lm. It doesn't seem to be especially common. Looking forward to Snake-Fu-ing the $10 beauty.

Tacky. But you known who would have LOVED that joke? Rip Taylor.

Probably terminal fabulousness.

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

The only "race" is between each individual builder and the calendar. -
Monthly local toy show and Rite-Aid run. It was an all-diecast day, no kits or glue bombs at all. And I paid exactly $10 for each of them: Burago Ferrari 250, says it's 1/24 but looks a little small, especially around the tires. ERTL '69 Charger. ERTL '71 Cuda. Welly Merc Capri, circa '74? Euro with square headlights (Rite Aid).

Only factory available on Z/28s (and, in '69, Pace Cars and Z10s). But today they are INCORRECTLY applied to many 1st-Gen Camaros. So they're Z/28 stripes.

You can only edit for something like 3 days now, then it's permanent.

How about some spooky halloween music
Snake45 replied to STYRENE-SURFER's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Probably just the UFO landing in the very beginning. -
In '69, the hockey stripes on the front fenders/doors WERE the SS stripes.
