Very, very nice! The blower is weird and the old-school "snorkels" on the carbs don't seem (to me) to fit with the vibe of the rest of the car, but those are minor points. Overall, a fine effort, and I like it better than the famous Milner Coupe! Model on!

I don't think I've seen another one of these all week! Interesting and original concept, executed with an obvious high degree of skill. Model on!

What would YOU like to see as a model
Snake45 replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd also like to see a nice '69 Chevelle (or, preferably, a family that could expand to the '68 as well). But if Revell did it, based on their recent history, they'd manage to screw up the body in some eye-jarring and largely unfixable way. Truth to tell, you can build a model of just about any kind of 2-door '69 Chevelle you can think of now. Yes, you will have to do some kitbashing and scratchbuilding and careful shopping of the aftermarket*, but it CAN be done if you want it bad enough. I'd rather see a new kit of something we don't have anything of, or anything similar. *In other words, some actual old-school MODELING as opposed to kit assembling. -
Very nice indeed!

Concur. Some of the nicest Torq-Thrusts ever kitted.

What's the second one down on the right--the blue rod? I can't quite place it....

Very nice! I think you captured the spirit and "feel" of these things quite well. -
Very imaginative concept, nicely executed. Well done and model on!

Very nice! Different and interesting, and obviously a labor of love. What's on your workbench next? -
AMAZINGLY clean and sharp build, but then, that's what we've learned to expect from you. Well done and model on!

Clean build, nicely done!

I recognized the paint job instantly. I daresay you won't see another one like it on the table at club meeting night!

I'm not a fan of the weathered/beater look but I gotta admit, that's one of the very best renditions of it I've ever seen. Looks like you have the techniques down perfect!

Not really a fan of those wheels, but I'm liking that dark blue metallic paint. Have to keep my eye open for one of those!

I think it's starting to grow on me. Definitely a project to consider. Thanks so much!

Fabulous! Thanks so much! It doesn't look at bad/weird as I was afraid it might. I was thinking maybe it would make the trunk look "too long." Wonder how it might work if the roof were lengthened, say, 1/4"? (Not that I'm suggesting that you chop it up and try it, of course.) I wouldn't complain if you were to take a couple more photos of this mashup, though, especially a profile shot.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. And I don't have the photoshop skills to build one "on paper."

To say nothing of geology, geography, or astronomy! Oh well. It's still possible that she could have a bright and lucrative future in the "Adult Entertainment" industry. But she'll still be allowed to vote, unless she commits a felony. And, increasingly, even then.

My money's on public education. If home schooled, then her parents were products of public education--and a particularly bad system at that.

Thanks! I know Mopar had very similar colors in '69 and '70. I want to do a couple of '69 Plymouths in the color and wondered what you used. Whatever, yours looks good!

I believe all those parts will fit. Be advised that the hood will be too narrow, but then the hood in the sedan kit is too narrow, too. I'm gonna build up both sides on mine when I build it. The headlight rims (on both) are too think (too long front-to-back) and could stand to be thinned down if you want to make the effort. And, on both bodies, the taillight bezels don't mate well with the body. The cut for them ends at the lower corner with almost an angle, whereas the bezels are properly rounded off at that corner. Fill that sharp corner in on your body and you'll avoid the ugly gap visible on just about every one of these I've ever seen built. And, if you're building one without the front bumper (the way all '55 Chevies should be), the front pan needs to have most of its "skirt" removed by filing, sawing, sanding, grinding, or whatever.

I came darn close to buying one of these things at Walmart this morning: https://www.diecastmodelswholesale.com/lettys-chevrolet-corvette-fast-furious-f8-the-fate-of-the-furious-movie-1-24-diecast-model-car-by-jada/ It's pretty attractive. At first I thought the whole front end had been stretched, but on closer look I think maybe just the front wheels have been moved forward AWB style. The bottom of the body looks too short, but I thought I could fix that with either some scratchbuilt rocker panels or outside exhaust. But, being Jada, I was suspicious of the size. It LOOKED 1/24, but then so did the Jada '73 Cuda I bought a couple months ago that turned out to be visibly oversized when placed next to a 1/24 Monogram '71 (maybe more like 1/22 scale?) So I compared it to some other stuff on the shelf. It was pretty much the same size as that '73 Cuda, and pretty much dwarfed an M2 '70 Mustang. The size was the deal-breaker. I walked away. Still, I kinda dug the vibe of the whole thing, and if it turns out that the front end IS stretched, I could always rebuild it as an early Funny Car. Maybe next week I won't be able to avoid the temptation. That too-big '73 Cuda might like some company down at the far end of my shelf....
