  1. Here's the Revell Concept Camaro Snake-slapped together as a "quick" slump-buster. I rescribed (and black-washed) all panel lines and polished the molded silver plastic. Wheels were given a shot of Krylon clear satin, and I masked off and painted the black window surrounds. Some detail painting, and the kit sticker "decals" were used. It's actually shinier than it looks in the pictures. Very easy shape to polish--I was able to do the whole think with Walmart Trim nail polishing sticks; didn't have to resort to my beloved Wright's Silver Cream. Total build time maybe ten or 12 hours. Comments welcome.
  2. I thought the first pic was a real car for a second (until I spotted the telltale Revell body cues). Nice!
  3. Very, very nice indeed! Model on!
  4. Pretty sure they were the custom wheel in the original annual AMT '67 Camaro, too.
  5. I bought this old toy Miura cheap a couple years ago. Figger with a paint job and some good wheels/tires it'll look cool on the shelf for about no money and little more work. Now, what color. Any suggestions? What do these look good in?
  6. Found this at the local toy show last year. I've never seen another like it. Front end is better than the Revell, size is better than the MPC. Far as I can tell, this is the best '69 Mustang in 1/24-1/25 since the AMT annual died. I'll probably take all the promotional lettering off it with acetone-free nail polish. Looking forward to the new Revell kit. Till then, this fills the slot on my shelf.
  7. Spencer, can you post some more pics of this lovely Camaro? Please?
  8. I didn't think this looked very close on your Gremlin, but there's a '39 Chevy in Under Glass with that paint and it looks in the ballpark to me, so, maybe so....
  9. If you used a Testor or Tamiya lacquer, it will come right off with rubbing alcohol. If it's an enamel, you'll have to sand/polish it off, but it's not a big deal.
  10. Very very cool! Never seen that Rustoleum metalflake green before, but I have a big can of a Krylon metalflake green that looks very similar and I'm itching to squirt it on some kind of dune buggy. Well done and model on!
  11. Very nice! Great paint and finish in particular.
  12. The Street Roadster class was the roadster equivalent of Gasser class, and had very similar rules. Among these were that the car had to be at least theoretically streetable, meaning fenders, headlights, seating for two, no "gutted" interior, and so forth. I think the Altered class allowed more engine setback than did Gasser/Street Roadster.
  13. MPC got all the '68 Chevy promos--Impala, Camaro, Corvette. These were okay--I have a Camaro and a Corvette, and had an Impala convertible as a kid, long gone, sadly. AMT got the promo contract back next year and produced all-new (and superior) kits. Not sure where the Chevelle fits into this story. AMT's '68 Chevelle was a midyear or late-year kit, which as we all know became the '69 which is still available to this day. Were there '69 Chevelle promos?
  14. If just picking and then polishing doesn't take it off, I'd try isopropyl alcohol. This will have little if any effect on Testor enamel, but WILL take off AMT lacquer, if that's what it is. Experiment in a hidden area. If that didn't work, I'd move up to naphtha (lighter fluid), non-acetone nail polish remover, or Goo Gone. Again, test each on an inconspicuous area before proceeding. It's possible WD-40 might work, too. Again, TEST. Don't let the body soak in any of this stuff. Just try on a paper towel in a localized area. And DO let us know what, if anything, worked.
  15. Very clean, very nice!
  16. I call Dibs on Newbaum's '65 El Camino!
  17. Interestingly, at the last local toy show I bought a (very cheap) diecast '63 Vette in a green that's very, very similar to that '66 green. No such color was offered on Corvette in '63.
  18. HAHAHAHAHA! Boy, ain't that the truth. For those who don't believe the Chinese copy at least some of their stuff from kits and other sources, see my review of the '69 Firebird down the page.
  19. Very nice! I followed Project X as a kid and to this day it's a favorite of mine. And you did a nice job with it. Model on!
  20. Let's not forget Foreigner's "Headknocker": He drives a '57 coupe, walks with a stoop, swears James Dean isn't dead; he's a dedicated rocker, a real headknocker, don't look at his lady again.... Or Warren Zevon's "Roll with the Punches": Johnny had a '57 Chevy, four on the floor and a four-twenty-nine*; we used to take it out on Wild Horse Pike, run it out to the end of the line... *Yeah, I know, but he had to make it rhyme.
  21. Of course he's doing well--he's freakin' SANTA CLAUS! (Looks like he's dropped a couple pounds, too. Good for you, Santa!)
  22. Looking for something like '69 Ford Silver Jade, I bought a can of touchup Hampstead Green at an auto parts store. It's a bit light for what I wanted, but might be very close to the color you're looking for. It's a touch greener than in this pic, but I think it's in your ballpark. (Test shot over various primers, none of which changed the color of it in any way.)
  23. I bought one of these yesterday. Now to try to make it look as good as yours!
  24. Different and interesting! And, nice elves!
