  1. I don't remember those exact lyrics, but you can sing them to Stevie Wonder's Living for the City.
  2. This thread contains a window molding tip that will vastly improve the looks of many (though not all) kits, especially older ones:
  3. And here it is. Not perfect by any means, but not horrible for what it is and its price. It'll look better after I Snake-slap it with some Model-Fu. 4. Here's the model in question. I hope to perform the cleanup/resto very soon. 5. I've thought of it, but I don't think the body's big enough. But I think one might be able to do something interesting and rod-ish with it, putting it on a truck chassis of some kind.
  6. Don't I know it! '66 Coupe was the hardest body to score for some reason. I chased them for months. Bought what was purported to be one in a box and everything, but when it came it was a mashup of '65 and '66 parts and the body was a '65. Somewhere along the line I also got this '66, which cleaned up pretty well except for no rocker panels and slight enlargement of the rear wheel openings. I'll probably use the side exhaust from an MPC '66 for this one.
  7. It's a '69, not a '66.
  8. Looking good! Great finish on that paint!
  9. Residue? I suspect what you're seeing is the reflection of the wavy-textured glass patio tabletop it's sitting on.
  10. I thought so! I don't think I've seen a model with that on it yet that I didn't like. I MUST paint something that color sometime soon!
  11. I don't have the capability/skill to copy something as complex as a whole grille, but I sure hope someone takes you up on your offer.
  12. Great pics, thanks! Did Modelhaus ever offer the JoHan '69 grille? I didn't order any but need to know whether to kick myself or not.
  13. I got in the mood to go back into the pile and dig the thing out last night. It's in even better shape than I thought. Should be a good weekend resto project. Will try to get some pics up soon.
  14. Well I think this glue bomb I bought has a correct '69 hood. But I found out it has no front bumper (it came in a plastic baggie with several loose parts) and the rear bumper in the baggie is wrong--it ALMOST fits but not quite. (It has a license plate decal that says KILLERB, if that's any clue.) But rooting around last night, I found a complete chrome tree from an AMT '69 GTX (don't remember where or how or why I got that, but I did at some point, evidently) that's fine except the chrome on the Mag 500 trim rings is wrinkly. So I've got all the parts to rebuild the thing, anyway. When I bought it, I thought the paint looked good and I'd just be able to clean it up and restore it. But the paint's got some problems that need to be touched up, and I can't match it. Dunno what it is. It's a silver/steel kinda stuff. I thought Testor Steel might be good for touchup but when I tried it, the paint on the car has a definite GOLDISH tint to it, but I don't think it's Model Master "Champagne" (not that I have or can get any of that, anyway). Must be some kind of real-car touchup paint. So it looks like I'll be repainting the whole thing. So much for a quick weekend resto-refurb, sigh.....
  15. I like that a LOT! And great color--what's the paint?
  16. You are definitely speaking my language, Brother Ron! I know exactly what you mean about doing a custom, road racer, or gasser if you can't quite get it back into Replica Stock shape. I've got three or four such projects in the works even as we speak. I also know what you mean about cleaning up that rocker trim. I've done three or four of those so far. Here's one I have several hours in, a '66 that had massive glue-boogers from side exhausts. I THINK I've got it good enough, but I won't know for sure until I get the foil on. 17. Fantastic work! And welcome to the Survivors Restorers' Society! You're officially a member in good standing!
  18. Recent issues with the site are explained here: I haven't seen The Evil Thing in two days now, and haven't had any site problems in two days, either. Coincidence? I think not.....
  19. I seem to recall that a few years ago, AMT reissued the '68 Road Runner or '69 GTX kit with something wrong in it--it had the wrong grille or the wrong body or something for the rest of the kit. Anybody remember what the combo/problem was? (Reason I ask is, I just bought a restorable glue bomb '69 GTX that came with a '68 RR grille in it. It has the right '69 taillights, though...)
  20. That's a nice color!
  21. Love the color! I've been trying to find some Candy Tangerine. How I miss that AMT paint!
  22. Stop apologizing, there's nothing wrong with this build at ALL. I'd have never built it, but if I had, I'd be durned PROUD of the work. Nicely done and model on!
  23. Dunno about that stuff, but Testor now has a very nice metallic teal in the "little bottle" line, and Hobby Lobby carries it. It might (or might not) be the same thing as their old Boyds Chezoom Teal. I bought several bottles and am planning to use them on some '65-'67 GM builds for colors such as '67 Chevy Tahoe Turquoise.
  24. I've found that the "Professional" Sharpie, with the wide chisel point, is a blacker black than the regular one, which can have that purplish look. It's almost like a glossy black enamel, but of course easier to use. But note that it is glossy.
  25. Speaking of credit cards, I finally got mine paid off, and was going to start "paying it forward" so I wouldn't get a big hit when my Modelhaus order finally kicks in, whenever that happens. Found out I couldn't pay more than the current balance. Bummer! I guess I'll just have to start sticking cash back for the day.....
