uncommon hot rod engine choice
Yenkocamaro replied to modelfink's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
How about a Chrysler Turbine engine? That's about as uncommon as you could get. A Buddy of mine sent me a pic of a 55 Chevy with a Marine engine. I think it was a 10 cylinder. possibilities..... Cheers, Lance -
What 1/24 Kits Had Moon Tanks?
Yenkocamaro replied to Snake45's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Ok, Snake, here are a few shots of 2 different fuel tanks. and the same one, mounted on a 32 Ford 3 window. The small one measures 9/16" wide by 3/4" tall. There is a bracket for mounting on it that is part of the tank, could be removed. Cheers, Lance -
What 1/24 Kits Had Moon Tanks?
Yenkocamaro replied to Snake45's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hey Snake, I don't think a 1/25 scale tank would look right, way too small. Since its 1/18, I think I have an extra from a GMP 32 Ford, and they are smaller(width wise) than some of the other fuel tanks on other cars. I'll look for it tomorrow, and then take a pic of it next to another in 1/18, so you can see the difference. Cheers, Lance -
Chris, just speaking for myself, no sealer. The color coat should have something to bite into, and if you put a sealcoat(clear of any finish)on the car, you should scuff it up before the color coat, so that would be a wasted step. Cheers, Lance

I like this one, but I love Cobras anyway What scale is this? Cheers, Lance

Hey Guys, just a little update on the Ford Nomad. When I pulled this project back out to start where I left off, I threw a small surfboard in the back, sticking out of the rear window area, and it got me thinking about adding one. I have a 1/18 diecast Ford Woodie, that had a large surfboard, so I threw it on top of the Nomad. Hmmmm... I was hooked on the idea, so I scratchbuilt a surfboard carrier, and cut the brackets on a 30 Degree angle to follow the angle of the roofline pillars, and kept that theme through the rest of the build. I tried to keep it as simple as possible, so as not to be obtrusive, and take away from the look of the car. At this point it will stay removable, just in case I decide not to use it, or I could display it either way. Thanks for looking. Cheers, Lance

Salvage a paint can?
Yenkocamaro replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Just make sure to shake the SNOT out of it Cheers, Lance -
Impressive build, Chris. You captured the "Look", and the paint looks great! Cheers, Lance

Love Phantoms "What If...." One of the great aspects of modeling, I agree, finish it. Cheers, Lance

Is it me or is it my builds?
Yenkocamaro replied to 72 Charger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We are all just sharing our work here, not for approval, or to see how popular our threads can be. Acceptance, is nice among like minded modelers, but certainly not needed to enjoy our hobby. I've had threads that drew 300 views, but only 3 or 4 comments, its all good. Cheers, Lance -
Thanks Tom. Its been on my build list for 15 or so years Cheers, Lance

Hey Tom, yes, I had planned on a two tone paint job. Purple-licious, and pearl white. Actually, I just attended the monthly Model/Diecast show, this past Sunday, and had the Ford Nomad on display on my table, and it drew a lot of attention, and even offers to buy it, the way it was! I must have asked 30 to 40 people their opinion on the skirts, and every one said to leave them on, and I agree. Hard to explain, but it just completes the custom look. Cheers, Lance

Geez Buddy, thanks for reminding me how old I am Cheers, Lance

Mufflers are getting exhausting
Yenkocamaro replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Ditto! I used solder for a build I did many years ago. I just drilled out the mufflers to take the solder, and ran it straight through. Easiest custom exhaust system you will ever do. As said, it conforms very easily. I then just terminated it at the end with aluminum tubing. Cheers, Lance -
Hey Guys, this is the same 1/18 truck I posted on the "Pin hinge", with the truck bed toolbox. I made more tools for the toolbox tray. I also scratch built a salt spreader, and a snow plow. The plow is movable from up and down, and side to side. I also made some trip springs for the plow, which will be installed after painting. I scratch built a portable generator/welder, and some shovels for the bed. I replaced the Dodge wheels/tires with a set from a 1/18 Ford Lariat, put a few dents in the diecast body, and have begun to weather it. Still have lots to do. Thanks for looking. Cheers, Lance

Hey Guys, one of my fellow Pub members on the "Diecast Pub" did the photoshopping for me here is the pic. I still like the fender skirts on Cheers, Lance
-
Thanks to all for your vote Looks like its unanimous! Sure wish I could have seen it without them, with someone photoshopping the pic. Thanks for the pic Thomas, at least its basically the same car. Cheers, Lance

Resin 1965 Ford transit (long wheel base)
Yenkocamaro replied to traditional's topic in Diecast Corner
Nice Clifford, kind of surprised its 1/18 scale, and I assume its a sealed model? Also, what engine was used in these trucks? Looks like maybe a 4 cylinder, based on the size of the exhaust pipe. Cheers, Lance -
Hey Guys, I posted this 1/18 build back when I first joined here, and its been on the back burner for awhile. I just recently started working on it again, and have the roof permanently attached now, and started on the body work. I did a mock up pic to show you where I am on it, but I'm looking for a favor. If anyone is good at photo shopping, could you remove the fender skirt, and expose the part of the wheel that would be showing? I can't make up my mind, if I want to remove the fender skirt, or not, so I figured photo shopping the pic would work. Thanks to anyone who can help, as I have no idea how. Cheers, Lance

Paint Booths & Safe Ventilation?
Yenkocamaro replied to Synister's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
This is the ideal setup, as the fan motor is mounted outside the booth, and not subjected to paint fumes or paint buildup on, or in the motor. Nice job, John. Cheers, Lance
