I was a concierge at Trump Tower (1985-92) during the time Spielberg owned an apartment there. One day. I brought up "Duel". I asked him the same question about the tanker. His response: "You watch too many movies." So, I replied, "If I didn't, you wouldn't be living here." "Joe, you might be right; but, if you didn't, you would have saved enough money to be able to instead." BTW, he was a nice guy but a lousy tipper. He used to give us fruit baskets for Christmas.

Looks fantastic, Bil! Roman Red is the perfect choice. -
When Badges go bad: Daewoo LeMans out of box
SfanGoch replied to Faust's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
My friend Richy bought a new '89 GSE for around $6200. A week after driving it off the lot, the muffler fell off. About a month later, the ball joint on the right side broke while driving on the Northern State Parkway in Long Island. The best happened around a year later. He was in the drive-thru at the Mickey D's in our neighborhood. The dash started smoking and caught fire. Never even had the chance to pick up his order. -

A pile of junk by any other name is still a pile of junk. Although, Vauxhall Terrible Car is a catchy name. -

That there is an exact scale model. Those are the hallmark features of the actual car. -

ACK! This period was the nadir of the American automotive industry. Thanks again for another entertaining and informative review. The kit has as many parts as the real car. better motor, too. I'd like the box so I can store spare parts. -
Russian-Shmussian. Still a nice kit pick up.

There are approximately 7.5 billion people currently residing on this planet. Divide that by a million and........ah, go ahead and do the math.

Dont'cha know everybody's a winner? "Yay! You're the second winner! Here's your participation award!" Second winner? Third winner?BULLFMEEP! There's only one winner in a race. Second is first in a long line of losers. Don't like the way it sounds, Junior? Get used to it. It's known as reality. Second best is the doormat which the winners wipe their feet on as they move forward. If we tell you that you're one-in-a million, that doesn't mean you're special. There are 7500 others just like you. What?!? You want us to cover your tuition at NYU for the next nine years so you can get an English Lit or Fine Arts degree?!? BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! You know something, kid? You aren't the brightest bulb around; but, you sure are funny.

Odd that the Russian Academy kit is marked as 1/24 since the Sunny and Academy/Minicraft versions are both 1/25.

The technology is available to do 3-D scans of sprue trees from unbuilt kits and cut molds for them. Think of all the possibilities for resurrecting long unavailable AMT classics like the '60 Pickup, for instance. Don't know if R2 would invest in the necessary equipment, though. If R2 did, scans could be made of the kits and kept on file for future consideration.

Nah, Revell isn't doing this because they're thinking about, as Ivana Trump was fond of saying, "de keedies". These are essentially BIY promos ordered by Ford to be used as bait to get parents to check out the upcoming product line. Strictly business. My comment about how I wish to spend, or not, and what I consider worth the expenditure of what's in my wallet is just as valid as your opinion on the current state of the hobby. I might be ageing; but, I ain't boneyard ready yet. I buy kits for my son. He picks, I pay. Pretty simple. He gets what he wants and the hobby lives for another day in the hands of a new generation. I don't need to pay for two tickets in order to get a crummy "free" model. I could just as easily point out the inanity in countless other comments on a variety of topics across the board; but, that serves no good purpose. Everyone is entitled to state his opinion, right? I'd like anyone here to point out where any form of complaint to that effect was posted in this thread. You can't. I was stating my opinion and nothing more. If any momo in the cheap seats has the inclination to read between the lines, parse my comments and attempt to misconstrue the meaning of my post, have at it.

Bummer......first Philthy Animal in November, now Lemmy. The boys never disappointed and always put on a great show. The first time i saw Motorhead live was at the Zeppelinfeld in Nurnberg on Sept.4, 1983, part of The Monsters of Rock series. They were the third act on stage after Meat Loaf. Robbo* was swinging the ax for the band during this tour with Phil Taylor on drums. Lemmy tore it up on "Ace of Spades". *This was also the last gig that Phil Lynott played with Thin Lizzy. Ironic that Robbo also was once a member of Thin Lizzy and this was his last tour with Motorhead.

Krylon Gloss Celery is a match for Seafoam Green. Armor modelers use it to replicate modern APC interiors (M113s, Bradleys) painted with FS24533. krylon Pistachio is pretty good, albeit a bit more bluish.

What kits did you get for Christmas?
SfanGoch replied to 95neon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I ain't gonna look that hard. A Jimmy Flintstone '58 Chevy SD, with a little work, well...it works for me. -
"Lee" is the Chinese company. The kit is a poorly produced knock-off of the Arii model with an electric motor added. You can read about it: KIT REVIEW – 1958 Cadillac El Dorado 1/25 by Lee

Great looking land yacht, Jim. That green is the perfect color. I have one in the stash. I want to open the doors and trunk on mine. First, I need to re-scribe the doors (3mm too short lengthwise) and do something with the shape of the front fenders. The wheel openings are a tad too high and wide Not really. The Caddy kits, and most of the older Arii offerings, have been out of stock at that site for years. I kept checking for updates and it just isn't happening. Arii went bankrupt in the '80s and a portion of their molds (Macross series) were bought by Bandai and Hasegawa. Don't know what happened with the automotive molds, though. Imex is mainly an import/export distributor, which is why its name is on some of the Arii kits. There aren't any new Arii/Imex '58 Caddys being produced. Whatever is available is existing stock. The only one actually available from Imex at this time is 31241, the Biarritz (no soft top) molded in pink. This is also existing stock. if anyone wants to get a '58 Eldorado, grab the Heller release. You can get it for $20-35, a lot cheaper than the Arii/Imex kits. Contrary to online urban legend, the Heller and the Arii kits are the same exact models. The only differences are that the Heller kit is molded in all black styrene and has whitewall decals included.

No car kits. My son got me the Italeri 1/35 S-100 Schnellboot Not the biggest. That honor belongs to the Soar Art "Dora". It's about eight feet long, including the track bed. This one is about 39 inches long, though. We're gonna hook this bad boy up for RC operation. Can't wait to see the faces of the model sailboat crowd at Prospect Park Lake. -
Revell "Skip's Fiesta" Series

Just a little teasin', Steve. Many happy generic all-inclusive non-offensive winter festival felicitations! It took me four kits over 10 years before I finally got it right. Tube cement wasn't my friend back then. We're still not on speaking terms today. The magic of CA adhesives makes getting those panels to align properly a cinch. I build a lot of armor and they usually contain an insane amount of small parts; so, I don't rush things anymore. When it's done, it's done. Trying to find the old AMT kit is a hassle in its own right. I understand your point about an alternative; but, man, the price for one, if available straight up/buy now, is a bit steep. For that kind of bread, one can get three Revell kits to practice on and still have money left over for a fourth to build up nicely after learning from your mistakes. -

That's a real beauty, Harry. A little bit o'patience goes a long way. Multi-piece bodies shouldn't present a problem for real modelers. Try building a couple ICM car kits. Ol' Humpty Jackson here didn't take his time and lookit the mess he ended up with.
