  1. "Smell" is subjective. Some people feel that Blue Silton and Limburger cheeses stink to high heaven. Others don't mind their respective aromas. Like with the cheeses, proper ventilation is also recommended when using solvent-based paints.
  2. Spot on. There isn't any of the hyperbole and histrionics on the local news here compared to what is presented by the talking heads on the national and cable outlets.
  3. The Archdiocese of New York announced that elementary schools in Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island will be closed through March 20th; no announcement from the Diocese of Brooklyn, covering Brooklyn and Queens. Also no word about NYC public schools; although, one school in the Bronx will be shut down for one day for decon after a confirmed case was detected.
  4. Fear-driven hysteria is the new normal. It keeps cable news program ratings up. I sneezed on my screen. Hopefully, everyone ducked.
  5. In a nutshell, nope.
  6. Via ouija board, George said that's his original design and can prove it. He's filing a lawsuit, retaining the services of the esteemed law firm of Howe and Hummel.
  7. Not when it pertains to display models such as the ship kits from Artesania Latina, etc. These models were not designed to be actually sailed in your bathtub or local pond. The first layer of basswod planking is to establish the hull lines. The second layer, usually narrower walnut or tanganyika strips are applied as a finishing layer; and, depending on the vessel, green colored rectangular wood pieces are applied as the second layer , from the waterline to keel, to simulate copper sheathing plates. My Mamoli 1/93 U.S.S. Constitution is a double plank on frame model.
  8. Thanks for taking the time to post it. Looks good considering it's a test print.
  9. Interesting. Any chance that you could post a couple photos of the test prints?
  10. Short of incorporating fiber optics, in combination with LEDs/SMDs, to actually illuminate them, there is no plausible way to represent the daytime running lights in a functioning state using paint, coloring or material.
  11. Wow! That is a swell looking rig, Matt. You couldn't get that result squeezing Jefferson off a nickel.
  12. Get this HQT Stainless Saw Set. They are thin enough (about 0.3mm thick) to slide under the runners of the glass and cut it out without damaging the body. There's a set of stainless scribers which you'll also find indispensable. Both sets are better than using a No.11 X-Acto blade to make panel lines or open doors and trunks because the kerf is only 0.3mm wide. No excess plastic is removed which results in oversized gaps. I've used both to remove glued in glass, and in disassembling heavily glued parts, from built models I wish to rework. The scribers come in handy in loosening front and rear glass which are solidly glued in place. Use either of the top two scribers by running the tips under the window trim until the glass pops out. Then, as I previously mentioned, use the saw blades under the runners to remove the entire piece.
  13. The technical term is cheap.
  14. It's huge, Donald. The length is 1030mm (40.5 inches). I bought it from Udisco Hobby, in Montreal, about eight years ago. I'm working on a servo=controlled linkage setup which will control all three rudders to create an fully operational Lurssen effect.
  15. 1960 Ford 4 Door Wagon (Country Sedan)
  16. I'm way ahead of you on this one, Rich. I've got a parts/price list somewhere on the PC for compressed air torpedoes that are charged from an airbrush propellant can.
  17. Yeah, that's the one! It's a TV classic, right up there with the Kojak episode when the Kojak Squad goes to India Street Pier which really isn't India Street Pier.
  18. Because of DST, I missed this week's episode of "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea".
  19. I agree. The Johan Cadillac V16s are some of the most detailed and superbly engineered kits ever produced. Compared to other Johan kits, they are readily available and inexpensive.
