stitchdup replied to disconovaman's topic in Community Builds
I mean body mods as if what i'm thinking would be ok only the paint and model of car would be the same -
What did you see on the road today?

My local council put in the 8" tall half round versions, within a month they'd all been stolen but the fishing boats all had really tough fenders for tying up at the pier. -

If its movie cars would an updated version as if in a modern remake (think the 2 versions of gone in 60 seconds) but for a movie that hasn't been remade be ok? Keeping the paint and og body style but with modern enhancements ala pro touring/tuner builds. Almost a sema version of a movie car -
Paid for a kit on the auction site over 2 weeks ago and just went to check for the tracking number to find it still hasn't been sent. I can understand waiting for payments to clear but when it gets to 16 days later it gets irritating. I paid immediately upon winning so if as a seller you are unable to post soon after it sells then dont list until you can get it posted in a timely manner. EDIT: the kit has now been posted, quite how this was managed on a sunday I'm not sure

That could make a pretty cool dio

Looking good, these cars seemed to disappear overnight when they stopped selling them

It was built more drift inspired than hot rod. There''s an interesting build thread on stanceworks about it. Its probably as far from traditional as you could get but I bet its a fun drive -

Personally my biggest peeve is finishing a build. It seems that no matter how many times I test fit a part once it comes to finally gluing it together it no longer fits. Take my recent golf, I really wanted to do a good job on it, and I judaciously test fit every part before and after paint but once it was glued together parts just didn't want to fit so I ended up with wonky back lights and a lower bumper that somehow grew in length so it wouldn't fit. As for this thread, I'm using it for build tips, not because I want people to comment on my stuff, but because I want to improve my models. -
Repainting die cast car
stitchdup replied to JMeehan913's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm currently repainting a diecast and you may find some areas need a lot more work to get looking nice. On the one i'm painting it looked nice and flat, the primer looked nice and flat but when the colour coat went on a load of pinholes appeared so I have to fill and repaint those areas now. -

Just a couple sets of rims this time and a porsche 356 coupe I've been after for a while. Probably paid over the odds for it but I'm happy

Help ID-ing this car...
stitchdup replied to LouO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it looks more like the t bird, there appears to be a small fin area above the light, and the bumper looks closer. In the op's pic the bumper looks to follow more of the light around than the falcon does, and there appears to be the exhaust cut out in its bumper which the falcon again doesn't have. And the reflections in the pic look like their on something a bit more angular -
The ford vs ferarri movie could be a good theme, but opened up to be any car that appears in the movie, not just the race cars

They dont magically grow to 1/1 scale so i can get in and drive them -
Ah sir, I see you are a travelling farm equipment salesman. Have we got the feature for your long drives into the country. Are you often caught short on these trips well the new chrysler (tm) trunk potty is just what you need and for a small extra charge we can also provide a portable curtain for privacy.

Very cool project and something I'm surprised more people havent done in the 1/1 world. If you have the sizes for the tyres you need I'm sure someone will be able to help

I have to go back and paint one door again but the rest of the body is pretty much ready. If you look at the pic of the front end you'll see the right fender is shinier than the other. This was polished with just the micromesh liquid and since the results are decent I'll probably give the clear a miss. I added a little chrone to the door cards with molotowe and finished up paint detailing the engine plate. I have to redo one part on the dash due to some sloppy brushing, it was going to be red or ali but neither looked right so i went for piano black like they use on rolls royce interiors. Tomorrow I'll start the chassis lowering and may do the wheel centres in black too for a bit of a sinister look to the outside.

I repainted one of the haynes (welly really) vw transporters for my mum a few years ago to represent the last holiday before my dad passed. I should have done a bay window but the spilt is much easier and cheaper to find so it got the lower half repainted dark blue using left over paint from our old van. When I get another bay window I'll be doing the full camper for her with some fun details only the family will know, such as a blue fan beltand some loo roll (both have a connection in one story). Unfortunately during the photbucket fiasco I lost my pics

Suitable kits for 'Ford vs. Ferrari' film
stitchdup replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think the licensing could be a problem for this movie. Just to start there's ford and ferarri but then you get into the sponsors too so we're probably best keeping the lawyers out of it unless you fancy some really expensive kits. I'm sure the aftermarket is already tooling up parts for the already released kits anyway- 13 replies

This is one of my recent non plastic purchases. I've been wanting a plastic kit of a modern bentley (from vw ownership period) to add to my collection of vws. Unfortunately nobody makes one, not even the lemans racers, so the next best option was a diecast. This one popped up real cheap and looked to be pretty decent proportioned compared to some diecasts and shouldn't look out of place with the other dubs. Now as you've seen all my stuff gets modded and this is no different. The paint is lumpy and scratched on this so its getting repainted straight black with no pearls or metallics. I'm changing the wheels for the bugels as the bentley rims will be going on something else (mk5 gti maybe) at some point and I'm going to be slamming it cos everything looks better on the ground. I didn't realise until i took it apart that it has working lights and engine sound but I wont be worrying about those bits as i know nothing about it and the battery terminals have teurned to powder. I will be doing a red interior as if i could afford a bentley, thats what i'd have. The only body mods will be losing the badges and front number plate, and once my pe mesh (thanks Mike) arrives i'll put it in the grille and vents. I'll have to narrow the rear wire axle and play with the front end to get it low but if need be i can lose the steering too. Hopefully it wont be a long project, Anyway on with the pics.
