I haven't been on there since someone got annoyed at my using british spelling, so for my next post I linked every word to the oxford english dictionary and got banned, lol -
We've also got lots of stuff coming from the aftermarket resin and 3d print places. It was pretty much certain that the big companies wouldn't put out a mk3 vw vento/jetta or wagon but the aftermarket have so I have them. I'd count them as new tools.

VW Golf mk3 van
stitchdup posted a topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I had this body shell left since using the chassis and interior on a uscp golf wagon. Since our build this month is car based trucks and vans I thought I'd use the body to build the van version. I dont have a front screen for this as its earmarked for the wagon. Instead I will be using the front glass from a bmw compact kit. The chassis I am using is from a tamiya alfa coupe kit, and I'll be using the majority of its engine too, but modified to ressemble a vw 1.8t. I was originally going to use the fujimi engine plate to build up a vr6 but I'll save those parts for a mk2 to build later. I think most of the rear suspension is going to be from the revell mk2 kit but I'm undecided on the front, so I might have to make something myself but i have to make airbags anyway. I'm also using the cage from the bmw compact as its a pretty close fit only needing a little stretch above the doors. Since I am going for a show car style with this the engine bay has been cleaned/shaved/smoothed so only the engine, gearbox and brake cylinder will be in it. For the engine bay i glued the outside edges of the fujimi plate to the alfa chassis so everything was in its place then started the mods. I've also started the body mods to turn it into a 3 door and while I really should reshape the rear window a little i think I'll leave it as is so I can keep the trim detail around the window as it shows on the vans. I moved the entire rear window and front door handle back 6 mm -
Cool, I have the same kit in the stash. Will be watching

Just picked up from the post office. Both come with a pe set and glass. The reason I got 2 is I couldn't decided between the square lights pictured on the box or the morette style twin light conversion. They also both have euro and us rear parts included. The quality is just as good as the ucsp wagon I am currently finishing off

Paint equipment question
stitchdup replied to Greg Wann's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The garage I worked at had something similar but it used a sugar soap solution, which was also sprayed on the walls to catch paint particles -

Can anybody recommend a good tool for folding pe? I'd rather buy good once now, so I dont have to upgrade later. The long nose plier I already have just dont grip well or have a decent edge to fold against

My first build on here was the revell mk2 escort and one of my more recent builds is the tamiya ghia

you want vantablack (the blackest black) but then you'd have to deal with anish kapoor (worth a google to find out why the art world have an intense dislike for him)

Cool, i bet it was a fun build

A bit of a lucky bargain, the esci escort kits seem to hold their value pretty well so I was pleased to get this incomplete one for about 20 quid. I thought it was the rally version but when it arrived it turned out to be the circuit racer version. The decals are toast and theres no instructions or tyres but I'm very pleased. I also got a tamiya toyota celsior and a load of humbrol acrylics

Prevent maskingtape from pulling paint with it?
stitchdup replied to PierreR89's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I used to have this problem and got to the point I was using 600 grit to prep the body. I then found duplicolour clear plastic primer (tamiya safe, not sure about other brands) and find a couple of light coats of it, left to get tacky then given normal primer seemed to work for me. Also when removing the tape I warm it slightly with a hairdryer to soften the glue, and pull it back along, almost bent flat back over itself (almost flat back) rather than away from the body so theres only tension between the tape and paint at the end. If you pull it away at 90 degrees it will put more strain on the paints adhesion. think of it like pulling on something thats been clingfilmed, if you pull it the whole lot moves and this is similar to what happens when pulling tape at too steep an angle. -
when you finish using it, turn it upside down and give a short squirt. it should empty the stem of paint

Tom Petty seems to influence most guitar music, I cant remember many artists that dont list him, even ice t has him down as an influence for his bodycount group
