  1. Paid curtoms fees on a couple of audi kits, so the royal mail in their infinite wisdom are saying i didn't pay it so they are sending it back to spain. and their helpline for fees is garbage with a 45 minute waiting time and no chance of speaking to a human
  2. got ya covered, i have one spare from doing a c1 trans kit.
  3. There might be a body available but i dont know what chassis would work for it. Model-cars.co.uk have a number of 60s british car bodies and there seems to be more added each week. avoid their resin casts though, they are complete garbage
  4. have you looked at whats available in 3d printing? there are a few pro street and pro mod chassis available. this is just one. I've printed this one and it turns out nice https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/pro-mod-chassis-3-piece-big-tire-with-floors-n-firewall
  5. so not branded as lesney which was my point
  6. round 2 own the brand and its copywrites as far as i know. they have done kits recently. amt as a brand still exist because it sells product, and when its been taken over each time they kept the name. its probably why penzoil dont sell ketchup, its just not a brand you would associate with the product when heinz exist and even if its the best in the world heinz would outsell them every year and the costs in advertising to beat them would make it not worthwhile to do. amt as a brand are known for model kits and memerobilia so rebranding to lesney would probably have lost sales as who's heard of lesney model kits? a lot of brands are probably worth more as a brand than products simply for the associating we all place on them. for example, in scotland every vacuum cleaner is a hoover (except possibly a henry cos their just the best hoovers)
  7. There was a car crash near my house last night and luckily for me it was a 90s car so now i have a load of free orange and red transparent plastic, and my neighbours think i'vw got great communiity spirit for cleaning it up. I just wanted some modelling materials for free
  8. Right at the top of scotland, then you have to swim or get a boat, drive across some ww2 monuments to a viking cathederal, then its another boat (if the weather is decent) journey to an island that barely shows up on a map cos its 2 x 4 miles if you draw a box around the furthest points. Or also known as the orkney islands
  9. I would give it a wash to get rid of any dust its picked up on it travels but it shouldn't need it if the printer has cleaned it properly. It shouldn't be necessary but its generally a good to habit to be in with most kits. On the larger parts I like to give them a gentle rub with a 600 grit sanding sponge (the soft ones, not the polishing ones) to knock back the print lines then usually, if the parts are good a couple layers of automotive filler primer has you ready to proceed as you normally would. The only time you should get a reaction is when the parts aren't fully cured but you would know before putting any paint on if thats the case as it would be soft or not quite hard feeling. Theres no mold release just resin for the print and water or alcohol for cleaning it. And MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A GOOD MASK that seals around the mouse and nose. The dust is bad for you. I've also taken to painting hidden areas with old paint just to seal them off as its a uv protection. If you are going to drill parts for mounting/painting go slow and step up the drill size slowly, parts can break just from drilling when you make too big a jump in bit size or if your saw has too coarse teeth. printed resin seems to like less aggressive tools better.
  10. I should have got a pic before i swamped it in paint, my red primer was much thicker than i expected and i lost a lot of lettering and detail. If I'd known how thick it was i could have skipped the filler primer layers on the grille. But then the file is sold as a custom truck too, rather than a stock one so I wasn't expecting it to be accurate. Its got enough detail to be a pleasant build and give a nice enough model but if i was building something more detailed i would start with a kit but this is fine to mess about with weathering stuff and experiment without having to strip a kit. There are seperate lenses to print for the grille but I'm not going to bother. I've got another crew cab file that much more detailed but the body on its too thin for me to print sucessfully but until i remove the supports it looks great. If i could get it to print I'd have all the various bed options and a few custom chassis as that file has a lot in it extra. The biggest bonus with this is it cost me £23 total to print the first one, the next one cost £3 because i already bought the file. I just finished curing this c60 and its a much nicer body but still has innacuracies but i find the majority of bodies do and if they dont they just dont rescale very well. The chassisfor the c60 is drying after its alcohol wash so I'll get it cured in the morning. Its a simplified kit but worth a bit more effort than the c10 is getting.
  11. that looks sweet, and i've bookmarked. I found a pretty good vw box van under advertising stuff files. I only found it because it was a featured designer on the cults home page one day. it never popped up under any of my searches
  12. Did an experiment with the motana chrome spray and some c1 powder on dome rims and other parts. Gonna be changing the wheels to some with less offset cos these ones stick out too much. The paint experiment looks not too bad, more like bbs radinox stainless rims than chrome but its another tool in the box. And I printed out some slosh tubs as the back of the brakes dont have much detail so rather than spend time sorting them i did the tubs to hide them. The wheel on the right has the chrome paint and c1 powder, the other is just the paint. Since it worked on the wheels i tried it over plasticote aircraft aluminum and it turned out great. The firewall, front panel and tubs were done with this method and i think if i'd done more prep on the firewall it would be chrome finished
  13. i think its 69/70, theres not much detail behind the centre bar
  14. it was christmas time, more than double the post and parcels take priority/make more money
  15. Most of tamiya road cars were sold internationally in the 1/1 world. There very few of their road cars were japan only. For the japan only cars fujimi and aoshima are a better place to look.
  16. its a 69 i think, thats what the file called it anyway but i cant tell the years apart myself
  17. One of our local taxi companies had 3 of these for weekend nights. The doors could get booted by drunks but they always popped back our again cos the metal was that thick and the vinyl seats could be hosed down in 5 mins. Apparently its based on the Morris Marina so watch out for falling pianos
  18. Sorry to say mine hasn't arrived in scotlands yet either. It usually arrives christmas week but I'm happy to wait another couple of weeks. I think it might be the last on my sub too so I'll have to get that updated soon
  19. Built from this kit its a file by ollie vizzle on cults and took 24 hours to print all the parts using both printers. I could print the glass but its a lot of hassle and never turns out great anyway so i'll cut up some computer cases i was given by the local repair shop. crystal clear, flexible and free, what could be better for a tight fisted scotsman. On friday at 10 am this was a grey goo and on saturday i started priming the cab and bed. The cab had some heavy teyuring that looks like wood grain on the top and sides so it took a fair few round of filler primer and sanding. Luckily i could dry the paint faster using the 3d printers cure station so i got most of it done so that this morning i could move onto red primer. I dusted the body parts with tamiya dull red too deliveratelly keeping it patchy. Then i dusted white primer over the bumpers but kept it light so red was showing. Then it was onto the body. I wanted to try the salt method to weather it but i over did the salt and found that salt melts in duplicolour!! pita! I found this out after the various near empty tins of duplicolour yellows went on and to my horror duplicolour gloss is water proof so the salt that hadn't melted didn't start disolving until i sanded everything with wet 240 grit. I need to do more arounf the windows but its a patina build so i dont need to worry too much. I have swapped the seats for a pair of buckets by blackbox on cults. I also swapped the wheels but my attempt at making dark gold using gunmetal and clear orange turned green so i'll be repaiting the centres. The rest is pretty mcuh ready to go so I could be finished in a couple of days. I have a load of weathering stuff i want to try out on this so there is more to come
  20. I think the most likely source for new hotrod bodies could be icm. their stuff would be stock kits but they already have some early stuff in 1/24 and the model a is the logical next step after the model ts
  21. Very cool, i like how the grille sorts matches the camper ribs
  22. Race for Glory - Audi vs Lancia 2024 Very well made but sligthly dramaticised in places but manages to include most a of the rule bending Lancia did to win the world rally constructors championship when audi were dominant. Theres some new action shots of classic rally cars and some moments that make you think of Smokey Yunnick in the way lancia thought. This was the year before group b took over and a proper underdog story. Its got enough factual content for those of us that know the story and enough ficyion to make the story flow without being a reimagination of the events. There were a few places that made me think I'm glad the producers didn't borrow my car to film this, but i'm sure its just sped up, lol. Very enjoyable movie that i didn't even know was coming out
  23. yup, and the guy that imported them got refused twice when he bought them so they sat in holland for about 5 years. A guy called jamie orr ended up doing a lot of research on them so they could be imported under the 25 year rule and they arrived on volkwagens own car carrier due to jamie having a very close relationship with vw. If you've ever read performance vw magazine jamie is the source for a lot of very rare parts and is well known for having a fleet of rare and unusual vws, such as a both of the concepts checker had made up on diesel mk1s and an inline vr6 fox among others.
  24. do you know a good locksmith? wouldn't hurt to change the locks just to be safe
  25. same with my gran. She'd only been in the ground for half an hour before the family members that did nothing whatsoever to help care (wouldn't even visit her even though they walked by the house every day which my gran saw and got upset about) for her were going through her house. Since i had the only key i locked them in the cold empty house (she'd been living at my mothers for 7 years so there was nothing to even sit on in the house) for 24 hours. They still refuse to speak to me but its no loss, i dont need folk like that around me and family is just a word used to guilt people into taking sides even if they are wrong. Its not that i dont care about family, but it has to work both ways and i dont have the patience to put up with their nonsense.
