I think you are right on that one, they where possibly in the Merc kit. My memory is playing tricks on me on this one, it is afterall 8 years since I built it and lots of water has been under the bridge since then

Thanks for all the kind comments If I remember correctly the tools came from either AMT 55 Chevy Nomad or AMT 63 Chevy Impala. I know I have seen some tools in several other kits aswell.

Thank you -
Thanks a lot for the comments Basicly a bit if tissuepaper covered with whiteglue/water mix. I see one detail now that I sould have made different if I built it today, the sparewheel has a lot of thread left. Should have been bald and the rag covering it should have been dirty.

Ford F350 camper

So here is some pictures of tonights production. The decking that is on the back of the camper is in my eyes to small (only 4x6 feet) so i decided to make an extra decking that is going to be atteched to the one from the kit. A double folding decking that is. Made from L shaped styrenstrips and this mesh made by Plastic Padding that is actually ment to used as a redneck-type of rust repair on 1:1 cars where you cover a rusthole with the mesh and cover that with bondo. Anyway, the new extra decking will make it a total size of 8x6 feet. Still not very big but atleast big enough to sit a chair on. A chair to put on top of the decking is also under construction. Thanks to the wonders of the internet I found drawings for a deckchair and since the measurements whee given in inches I just transferd them to millimeters. Made from styrenestrips and some brassrod it is functional with 3 positions and folding together. I now need to find some fabric that I can use for the "seat" part of it. -
Organization and a revelation

I too tried and organize my stash in a Excel sheet once but that was prior to me moving out of my parents house in 2007. Since then I have sold and bought a huge amount of kits. I counted my kits some months ago and ended up at 518, in the last month I have sold about 25 kitsand back in 2011 I sold of nearly 200 kits and I have sold kits at many other times aswell as buying kits all the time. I have my complete collection on shelfs here in my hobbyroom so I can see it all. I did however earlier in the week start a list of plannes projects and WIPs and I found out that I have 10 WIPs and so far 23 planned projects (including 3 complete scratchbuilds). On top of this is all the ideas I have with the kits I got. -
Thank you very much This was the first time I weathered a model and was happy with the result of it. The only thing I'm not happy with on the model was the chromefoil on the rear window. There was a problem with the foil and it would not stick to the thin pillars very well. My plan at the moment is to to something similar to the Revell woody kit aswell.

Yes, I see it now that it is a Dodge bed. Remember reading about them in a magazine some years ago and I did remember that they used a bed from another source but did not remember who. I do have a Hotwheels 1:64 diecast version of the Studebaker Champ but they have cheated and made a bed that flushes with the cab. This one is not mine but mine is the same color:

Hehe, yeah. I did imagine that the owner of this one would be a bit on the shady side.

I was reading in a thread about the Revell 49 Mercury woody that almost no stock 49 Mercury build are done. That was also what I found out for myself back in 2007 as I was searching around for refrences on my build of the classic AMT kit. I built it as a factorystock (almost anyway) car in need of some tlc but still a runner (let's say the year is 1964 and the car is 15 years old). Rusty, dented and missing some trim. It has aftermarket hubcaps on some of the wheels. It's dirty and filled with stuff. The trunk has a box of parts and tools in it aswell as a sack of potatoes and a rag covering up the spare wheel. The back seat has a stack of old newspapers and some sort of package in it and the front seat has been covered in a blanket that is now getting dirty. The weathering on this was done by attacking the body with my dremel and using salt on the body before final painting aswell as dusting it with grey primer afterwards. I sanded of the missing trim and drilled out holes with a small drill (I think it was 0.8mm).

Yes, I made the ladder from 1mm brass rod and the steps are from the ladder from the kit that I cut out and drilled holes in. The idea is that this ladder would be a removable ladder -

I had to take out my B14 van to take a look at it and I can understand your frustration. I think that maybe the trick would be to paint the inside panels first and then glue the body togheter and paint the outside afterwords. But how to get it to be square, I do not know. Probably just as frustrating and difficult as the Open Road Camper I'm building at the moment, I'm finding it difficult to get that to be square aswell. I did build the C4 "Waterman" van but I built it as an amblance, here is a picture of it. -

Which kits are.....

Is it true that Wingnut WIngs are backed financially by Peter Jackson? I think someone in my modellingclub said that and he is apperently a fan of WW1 and airplanes. I have never built (or owned for that matter) any of the WW kits but I have seen some of them built by fellow clubmembers and they seem to be good. -

I have only built the Citroen C4 "Waterman" van but I got several of the kits and from my point of view they are all equal. They can be fiddly to put togheter but if you are careful and do things properly and take your time on it they will end up as great models. If you like the big open cars, then the Delage D8SS and the Mercedes 500K will fit the bill. My personal favourites is the Talbot Lago Record 1950 and the Renault Vivastella and the Delahaye 135 looks really great. -
Cool project. I like the idea of making a fully glazed van with interior. In the late 80s and early 90s here in Norway the Starcraft conversions where very popular. Lots of them around but today they have almost always rusted away.

It is probably easier to say what company is NOT the best (note: I did not say worst). -

Very difficult to say as I have no experience with anything else than cars and trucks. I'm partial to saying Heller but I guess there is a reason that Tamiya has gotten the reputation they have. Moebius looks to be doing some great car and truck kits today but that is also the same with manufacturers like Fujimi, Ebbro, ICM and Emhar and let's not forget Hasegawa and Revell AG. I also have a 1:35 kit of a Mercedes 170 from Miniart and that looks fantastic. I also like many of the new kits from Revell US.
