  1. Anyone here know what this is? And if so, what is your name for it?
  2. Looks like the Ebay sellers are expecting to cash out on selling the kit early. Even the cheapest one of the ones posted is probably 20$ more than what it will be to get it from HLJ.
  3. Is that Used Car a real kit? The Chevette will indeed build up nicely, here is one that was built by a friend of mine Kjell Terje Trones (some may know him from others forums as Slabbedask) a few years ago.
  4. I did see some of it live on Motors TV, first time I have seen someone bumpstart a car in a race by hand without getting out of the car
  5. But did anyone predict that you can carry almost all of the worlds encycopledias and instant info about almost anything togheter with a photocamera, moviecamera and possiblities to have around the globe contact at an instant in something so small that it fits in your pocket?
  6. Yes, I have seen the prices for the Revell US and AMT kits at Hobby Search and with the shipping cost added (and possible import fees) I could probably get two kits here at my LHS for the price of one from them. Like the AMT Ford LN8000 racecar hauler truck: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10257428 73,04$ here at hobbysearch and in my LHS it is 67,50$. Add to that maybe something like 25-30$ in shipping and probably about 30-35$ in import charges and it would be about twice as expensive as my LHS. The Revell AG London bus is in my LHS for 73,75$ and at hobbysearch (sold out) for 87,94$ while the MPC World War II Jeep (recent reissue) is slightly cheaper at hobbysearch at 35,77$ vs. 37,25$ at my LHS but with shipping it would be more expensive in the end anyway.
  7. It is the same here, one example is the Gunze 1956 Volkswagen beetle, HLJ has it for just 960Yen (7.96$) but out of stock and Hobby Search has it for 1080Yen (8,94$) and in stock, add shipping to that at maybe another 1000Yen or so and the kit will be about 2000Yen total (about 16-17$) but in stores here in Norway it would probably be around the 40-45$ range. Same goes for any others asian kit maker aswell.
  8. I agree with the others, really nice. I even like the top chop now as it does indeed make the lines flow better
  9. Cut the axles a littlebit on both side of the diff housing.
  10. Does Hill Valley exist? Always fun to see what was once thought to be the future and then it never happened and the future we got is completely different. One can wonder how different our future will be from what we expect it to be.
  11. For me, I could have wanted to see a reissue of these: Esci 1984 Ford Transit Grip 1974 Honda Civic RS MPC 1978 Chevy stepside 2wd Heller/AMT Renault 8 Gordini ERTL Volvo N12 And I can probably think of more kits aswell. These I think should not have been reissued: MPC 1972 Pontiac GTO Can't think of anymore at the moment.
  12. I think that counts for all of is right? Everyone has their own personal "Cool-factor". For me, a 1969 Charger is not so interesting. Sure it's a cool car but I don't feel the need to have one when I look at it, but my first automotive dream was an stil is the 1957 Chevy Nomad and that I really want. I worked with a guy that is born in 1993 and his dreamcar is a 69 Charger. I am born in 1984 so I'm 9 years older and like a car that is 12 years older than his dreamcar. Is it a age thing? Both yes and no. I think it has to with influences we get in our early teens. If you think back to what you started to like when you where about 10-13 years old I'm guessing you still like that and that goes for almost everything, cars, music, movies, sports, and a lot more. Thats how it looks to me anyway, the 57 Nomad was something I fell in love with when I was 11 and in later years I have realized that my favourite movies and music all have something to to with what I saw and listened to when I was about 12. At that age I did see movies like Bullit and Convoy for the first time and today I claim that my favourite years of movies where made between 1960 and 1980, stil lots of good movies both before and after that but within that 20 year period I like almost everything.
  13. I'm glad you have provided the info, I sure know who I'm going to turn to when building the kit Should it have been a opening trunk? Maybe so but thats not going to keep me from buying the kit.
  14. When I post images I press the imagebutton just above the area where I put in the text. Then I window will popup where I can put in the address to the image. I put in the address withouth the IMG codes.
  15. I remember seeing their show, don't remember the name of it but the guy in the middle is Alan Titsmarsh (did I spell that right?) and on the left is Tommy (?) and...uuhhh...I have forgotten her name, Sam maybe (?) What about pulling up some of the other presenters from old Top Gear? Tiff Needell is still with Fifth Gear but what about Quentin Wilson? Or they could replace Jermey with Phillip Glenister and he could permanently be playing Gene Hunt to be at the same level as Jeremy
  16. Around here I see a lot of cars with matt rubber paint on them. They are painted but it is more like the wrapping in that it is not permanent and one does not flat the existing paint to put it on. Not sure how they put it on but you can take it of just like it was wrappingfoil. A guy I worked with had a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo XCIIIVIMCX (or whatever...) with matt black rubberpaint on top on the orginial silver paint. When I was going to sell it, he just removed the paint.
  17. I don't think that inteligense is a part of it, it is all about different types of interests and tastes. Like some guys like fat girls and some guys like....guys. It's not wrong and it is not stupid, it is just different.
  18. Thanks!! Looks much better like that
  19. So where is the original version of the 60s photo? I'm a lot more interested in that.
  20. What is the price for this one in stores in the US? I see them on Ebay for 319,99$ buy it now.
  21. The 53 Chevy lowrider version I got (the middle one of the top pictures) does include front spoiler, hood scoop and other customparts from the original Monogram version. Too me it looks like they just added lowrider rims and tires and lowered suspension and some other lowrider stuff but apart from that it is the same as the old kit. It is also molded in white wich is a good thing for painting.
  22. Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I wanted to comment on this one. It seems to be a great kit alltough the bumpers are molded together with the front and rear valance so one would need to mask them for painting. It also has some tiny and I'm guessing rather fiddly photoetch parts for things like the hubcaps. It really is a great kit and I wish they would scale it up to 1:24 as ICM did with the Mercedes G4 and Opel Admiral kits. As for the boxart: I guess it must be a cultural thing because I did not really react to it in any way. This is a "military" kit and the boxart reflects that. If it was 1:24, the boxart could have been of it in front of a hotel in a big European city, dropping of passengers as a taxi wich would have been the most common way you would see these lower spec cars (it is supposed to be a 200) back in the day.
