  1. Thanks for the could walktrough on the Ebbro kit. I'm no expert in these cars so I would not pick up on the inacurracies in the kit. It sure looks like the other tailgait in the Heller kit could be the one you have pictured above. What version is that?
  2. Volvo is famous for the Globetrotter cabs, but they also tried the Eurotrotter cab: And here is pictures of one of my planned modelling projects with Italeris Volvo FH kit: This one can also be a future project using one Revells Mercedes NG kits:
  3. Here is an old picture of an even older vehicle: Half bus, half truck. DAF chassis. Over the windscreen you can read MELKERUTE wich translates in to milk route. This was used back in the day that farmers put the fresh milk in to these types of jars/cans: They used trucks to go around to farms to pick them up and take them to the dairy. But the bus above was also used to carry passengers. And here is another version that was quite common in earlier times. We call them Kombinertbuss (translates in to combined bus) and this is half bus and half truck that was very often used in rural areas where one would have the bus carrying passengers and also bringing goods and mail to people, stores, farms and companies. And here is a Scania with a narrow cab for carrying extra long loads of steel beams: And here you can see a fairly common way of moving shipping containers some years back (I took these pictures in early 2001)
  4. I sure hope that the price market will be in my favour when I get to the point of actually buying one. I just bought two more versions of the greenlight 1:64 diecasts on Ebay. One with a small caravan behind it
  5. You must have been scammed with the 100th anniversery 57 kit then. I don't have the 51 fleetline but the 57 Bel Air is the new tool version and the only difference between the 100th anniversery edition and the Pro Shop version (apart from the tin box) is a brochure with info and period promo paintings of the car in the 100th anniversery kit. I bought mine from a hobby shop after it came out. I can also add that the "new tool" versions came out in 1998, or atleast they are copyrighted 1998 on the boxes.
  6. I have to correct you on that one. The 100th anniversery kit is the "new tool" (1990s) kit with opening trunk, photoetch plugwires and chromefoil. I am currently using that to build the car from the movie Return to Macon county. It looks like it is going togheter very well. I have Revells new tool 150/Black Widow kit, and the Bel Air 2 door post kit and the AMT "new tool" in three different versions, number 8315 (1:1 two door post car on boxcover) and number 8455 (yellow built up on boxcover) that is AMT/ERTL Pro Shop with photoetch and such and then the 100th anniversery that is the same as the proshop kit. Some years ago I also had the old tool AMT kit and that is maybe lacking i detail a littlebit but come with loads of custom parts (apart from a very late release that is stock only). I also had the AMT 1:16 kits (Convertible, Coupe and Nomad) and they looked quite nice but I never built them so I don't know how well they will turn out when done. For my money, I would go for either the Revell new tool 150/black widow or two door post Bel Air or the new Convertible kit they released last year or the AMT "new tool" kit in one of it's versions. They look the best, have the best details and should go together without to much hazzle.
  7. Do you also have the Ebbro kit? If so, are they similar in proportions and details?
  8. Thanks for the link with the pictures. Looks like it is a different tool than the Ebbro kit. I made my pre-order at Hobby Search many months ago but I see now that they are cheaper in Norwegian hobby stores
  9. Has anyone gotten the Heller version of this kit yet? I have had it on preorder for a while now and the original release date was late january but it has not arrived yet. I already got the two Ebbro versions.
  10. I was contemplating buying some wood kits of horse carriges on Ebay last year. Don't remeber who made them or what scale it was but I belive it was a larger scale like 1:20 maybe.
  11. I got a couple of automotive modelling books that I really like. "How to build creative dioramas for your scale auto models" written by Ken Hamilton "Scale model trucks & emergency vehicles" written by Terry Jessee I also got one that I really like on how to do diorama bases, it is not really a automotive book but the technics can be used. It is called "The scenery manual" from Woodland Scenics and is actually a railwaymodelling book.
  12. Thank you very much for the links
  13. Esci had a BJ-44 in several versions Italeri has recently reissued it as the Armed Pickup:
  14. I like the Tuckers late-forties looks. It would work well in a film-noir type movie (think Phillip Marlowe). I would buy a kit of it.
  15. Yes, a really nice one is what I will be looking for. I can't really do much more than look at the moment as I have no money and I have a house and six cars that are all in project state plus the family. Maybe I should sell some of my other cars.... I know all about salty roads and what mess that makes, the reason for my cars being in a project mode is just that. At the moment I'm overhauling the front suspension on my 85 Mercedes 230TE and sandblasting away a lot of rust (and I have to weld a bit) and all the rust is a result of that wet and wild climate with salt on the roads 7 or 8 months of the year. Have they done any more than that 64 in the Gas Monkey shop? I kind of liked the look of the truck but I did not like the wheels all that much. I think I prefer a much more stock steel wheel look.
  16. Thanks for the tip on that site to search all of craigslist. Will check that out I does not really matter much to me if it is a high power truck or it just got a "leaning tower of power" as I will most likely have to modify it to use it here anyway. With our scary fuel prices and the modern day "fuelsave" petrol being sold it is almost impossible to run a old school motor for any length of time anyway. A more modern carbsetup or a fuelinjection modification is some thing to go for or I could put in a proper diesel engine in it. Did look at a much more modern 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with a souped up Cummins making over 600HP today. I'm not going that far.... Thanks for the tip, when googling Dodge truck forum I got several results.
  17. One of my dream"cars" (yes, it is a truck) from my childhood is a Dodge pickup from the mid 60s (65-67). I was totally off the hook when Modelhaus released their 65 D100 long bed a couple of years ago and I got that ofcourse: I also have 5 of the Greenlight 1:64 diecast toy cars in both long bed, short bed and step side versions and I bought a 1:1 brochure (from 66) on Ebay a few years ago. But does anyone here have any experiense with the real thing? I see that they seem to be much rarer than the Chevys and Fords of the same era, but how much rarer? What will I have to pay for a 1:1 truck today and what is the market like? What should I look out for? Good parts supply? (or not?) I have seen a few of them on Ebay but not very many and looking trough old car mags from Scandinavia I don't find many advert for them here either. I looked a bit on craigslist but I guess that is most usefull if I do travel to the US to find one (witch I may do someday). Any info is appreciated
  18. I have always been after it to build it as a stock Hiace, does it have only left hand drive dash?
  19. I got the Harley version of the kit last year of Ebay. Did not pay very much for it. I'm not very much into the look of this kit with the wheels and stance of it and I'm not a fan of the interiorparts either put I do plan on putting steelies on it, lowering it a bit in back and maybe a more stock interior and drivetrain..
  20. Eccentric and (in my eyes) very cool subjects indeed
  21. If you ever want to sell that, send me a PM I have been looking for that kit for years, seen it on ebay a couple of times and it went for way more money than I was able to pay. I have quite a lot of the Heller 1:43 kits including the CX, very nice kits. They are simple but build up great. I'm only missing a few of them and the one that I really look for is the Alfasud. Some of the others are such gems as the Leyland Princess, Rover SD1, Renault 30, Peugeot 403, Peugeot 604 and Volkswagen K70.
  22. Yes, why not. That is all you really need, a chassis with suspension and engine and drivetrain and functioning steering, brakes and lights with some seats. Perfect transport as long as the weather is nice.
  23. I guess we all look at the world in different ways and that is because we are of different ages, live in different parts of the world and have different interests. To me, the DS in 1:24 is a no-brainer, has been a classic since it was launched 60 years ago and is widely seen a one of the greatest car designs ever. But of course, that is my point of view And, yes, I will pay for it when it arrives. 60$ may be a lot of money for some and for me it is aswell but with 400 plus kits in my stash I can always sell of some to make up the money if needed. Again, in my point of view, I would like to see 70s land yachts aswell but I would like to see a lot of stuff from the 70s from all over the world. Lots of European and Japanese cars from that decade that does not exist in kit form.
  24. Yes, I'm going to get one, maybe even two of them.
  25. That's a great idea. Two right at the top of my head that I would like to see is the AMT (old MPC?) Jeep Commando and the AMT/Ertl International Scout II.
