  1. Fantastic looking body, can't wait to see the rest of it
  2. I my self have projects planned with the Aoshima Toyota HiAce H100 van: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10257721 And the Toyota Corona Mark II Granda (or Cressida as it was known as here) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10153537 And the Aoshima HiLux http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10074795 And the Corolla KE70 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10270940 And the Hasegawa Nissan Sunny pickup http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10321592 All of these are kits that will need LHD conversions in my plans. The HiLux could possibly use the dash from the Aoshima 4Runner (HiLux Surf Wide) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10075837
  3. Here is a few updatepics on how the project is coming along: The trunk/luggage compartment. I have glued the rear wall behind the rearseat inplace but the sidepanel is in the picture only put there to show how it is going to look. The exhaust is done and the rear axel with springs is in place I think it looks strange with all being white under there and it is only my guess that it was this way on the moviecar. Engine is started. I painted the block with cylinderheads, intake and oilpan in the color I had that I think matches chevy engine red the closest. I think the movie car possibly could have had chrome valvecovers (despite not being able to see them in the film) so I will find some that will fit in my partsbox And here is the body in color! This is what the Rape Yellow looks like on the body, I think it looks quite right.
  4. Great detail, I really love the look of this
  5. Wow, really cool looking project. Fantastic looking wheels, I'm envious at your lathe. Will be looking forward to more updates on this
  6. Cool project, looking forward to updates
  7. After another round of sanding I thought I really had seen the last of the trim on the back but after a new layer of primer it was back again. Now the body has gone in the brakefluid bath and after that I will use filler and try to cover it over that way.
  8. After lots of sanding I thought the sidetrim was gone, felt nothing with my fingertip and did not see anything either but after primer it sure came back again
  9. Sounds like a cool show, it will probably come to our nordic Discovery soon (I hope) and then I will watch it aswell. I did start a cuban-car modelproject some years ago using Revells old 53/54 gasser kit that I started converting in to a more normal roadcar in Cuban style but like so many other modellingprojects it stranded. Maybe I will get inspired to continue work on it when I see the show.
  10. You are doing some fine work on this one. Very interesting project
  11. Now I have learned something new today aswell, I never knew the BMW E30 was called Gusheshe in South-Africa and looing at this I belive it can spread to other parts of the world aswell.
  12. You have probably seen this before, right? http://www.shorpy.com/node/14005?size=_original It says August 59 but I belive that truck could be a 58.
  13. So, a small update to this one. I have applied the embossing powder I bought on Ebay and I think it looks quite convincing: I have also started to modify the exhaust. In the film you can see that it has twin pipes at the back and they are coming out just about where the framrails are instead of the corners of the rearbumper like a stock 57 Bel Air. Here you can see the added twin pipe on the one side and the other on that has yet not gotten its twin pipes.
  14. I just feel this one needs to be brought forward. This is hilarious! I want one. Scott This one is real? And funny too. Scott I would really love to have these two
  15. Yes, I have to look in to my collection and see if I can find any trophies. If not I have to search elsewhere. I do belive that they have just covered the sparewheelwell with upholstery aswell so I have made a coverplate from sheetstyrene and glued it in place. I did find the name kind of funny when I bought the can, it says Rape Yellow on the boxlid. The norwegian word for the rape (or rapeseed/canola) is Raps and I did understand right away that this was the actual meaning of it and not that other violent kind of rape. The rape/canola sure is yellow enough: Strange that it did not say Canola Yellow on the box.
  16. At the moment I am working on the trunk. I wonder if anyone has seen any kits with trophies like the ones in the trunk? Also looks like there is no spare wheel. Looks like there is some kind of tank where the spare should be. Could this be for the NOS or something similar maybe? They do use something in the movie that makes the engine perform better at the flick of a switch.
  17. But is there a stock 76 Nova kit out there?
  18. A similar one is found on the Pyro 1:32 1952 Chevrolet
  19. I had an AMT Chevy Nova (1976?) that was releases in 2004 or something like that. Showed a stock looking car on the box but was a streetlegal drag car in the box. EDIT: I belive it was this one: Sold it not very long after I bought it because I was dissapointed that I could not build a stock version.
  20. You could possibly get a new set of decals trough the forums? I got the kit myself in the stash in the old Esci edition of it, personally I'm not sure I would use the decalsheet for it. I can check if the decalsheet is ok in mine. If it is you can have it
  21. I have not built any of them but got both the AMT and Revell kits and from what I see the Revell one looks very good. I like the fact that it has separate chrometrim on the sides. The AMT kit is also very good when you consider the age of the kit but I'm guessing that the latest issues will have rather worn molds and therefore a lot of flash and moldlines. I got an issue from the 70s (not sure what year) that has the number T273 and a blue custom on the box art and it does look like it had a good mold with very little flash and moldlines.
  22. I have been on holiday for the past week and on friday I thursday I found myself in a store that among other things sold Motip spraycan paints and I found a color that I think will match: Ral 1021 Rape Yellow. Difficult to tell if it actually matches the movie car or not as the color will look different depending on camerasettings and my own computerscreen settings.
