  1. I didn't know what I'd started when I sent that tip in to Scale Auto all those years ago, did I tom. ? I should be getting kickbacks from the plastic spoon companies. ???
  2. I got some florist's wire from Michael's. I think it was 16 gauge but I'm not sure.
  3. They were available in 1964. Have never been reissued but there's a few on E-bay right now. Expect to pay over $110 for an unbuilt one but I just picked up a lot of built ones and pieces for what you'd pay for a couple current kits. Looks like you're from Calgary?

  5. Thanks for the offer Les but I'm pretty sure when I get around to the third one it'll be a full custom with rolled pans so no need for the stock parts. I do appreciate the offer though. ?
  6. I like to build Customs so I'm always on the lookout for pre-built kits. IF I get a kit that still has intact emblems and scripts, I'll tend do leave it alone and stick to nice paint with lowering and a wheel/tire swap. But if I have multiples or the scripts are already removed or damaged, then I go as far as I like.
  7. Funny how you wait forever to get a certain model and after you finally got one they seem to start dropping from the trees. I was lucky to get a '64 Pontiac from Steven Guthmiller about this time last year. I had planned to build a mild custom from it but when I got it, it was too nice to mess with much. Well, I think I have a custom '64 or two ,, and another stock. The white one has some glue damage on the roof so it's going to get a roof, chassis and engine swap from an AMT '64 Impala to become a mild custom Parisienne. The black one will probably be stock leaving the customized one for later consideration, although I only have stock rear bumpers for two cars.

  9. Gareth, here's a tip for you not many may know about. Those raised lines down the body of the car are not meant to be chrome trim. MPC actually molded them into the body so after paint, they could be scraped down to bare plastic to represent the dual pinstripe that was very common on this car. Looks like the body was molded in blue so if you sand down to reveal the strips before clearing or polishing it would go well with the blue interior. , , and people will be asking how you did those tiny pinstripes down the body. ?

  15. I just don't drive it that much. No AC and it's been a hot and muggy summer here. I have managed to get most of the things I need for the interior over the summer though. New upholstery kit, headliner material, carpet kit for the plastic around the hatch area, etc.
  16. Mostly box stock but I did chop the top and swapped out the wheels for a set from the AMT '68 Elcamino street machine. Paint is HOK "blueblood red". Hard to believe this kit's been out for around 25 years now.

  19. The wheels on the real car weren't stock Vette wheels, too wide. From the number of spokes and how they come to the edge of the rim, I'd say they're Western Cyclone I wheels. Other companies made very similar wheels but I found this pic on line and if you zoom in on the wheel you can see the Western Wheels "W" logo on the spinner.
  20. Cool. Nice to see an airliner occasionally. Looks good in the historic livery but I do like the billboard livery too. I've been thinking of getting one of the Seamasters when Atlantis reissues it and doing the Pan Am flying boat livery on it complete with the orange wing panels. Phantom "Seamistress". ?
  21. They're definitely Monza tail lights. Camaro ones were taller and not as long.
  22. Looks sharp to me too. That front on pic is just plain nasty. Even though my cars are more "mainstream" I guess you could say, sometimes I only get a handful of comments and most of the time my posts of a build in progress won't get any comments. That's just the way it goes, nothing to worry too much about. That said, it does sting to put up a build and not get recognition for it. Been there, got the T shirt and everything.?
