  1. I have models here from at least 1/2 a dozen friends and relatives who are no longer with us. I don't want any more.
  2. Nice clean build. If it was a solid, non-metallic paint. it's be pretty close to the color my 1/1 '69 was when I bought it. Wish the people doing the box art had got the front lights right though, seeing them painted amber is so wrong. ?
  3. I don't know of anywhere but here's a site with loads of pics of rattan. You could pick one and print it off in a suitable size on decal paper. I've done that before to make plaid seat insert decals. https://www.gettyimages.ca/photos/rattan?phrase=rattan&sort=mostpopular
  4. Yea, It's the one I was thinking of. I'm pretty good on remembering cars, but names, not so much. LOL The '65/'66 ones I was thinking of are the Revology Cars reproductions. Got them jumbled together and was thinking one company did both.

    58 Buick

    Sweet !!! ???
  6. That looks fantastic Roger. Reminds me of something Boyd could have built back in the day. [that's meant as a compliment. LOL]
  7. I think it looks pretty good as is ,, if you don't mind the color. The back bumper from the newer, more detailed '62 kit will fit perfectly, like it was made for it. But the tail lights are slightly different between the '61 and '62. [BTW, the front bumper is a pretty good fit too. Just a touch wide but not really much more than the original kit part. I doubt anyone would tell the difference.]
  8. Yea, you win, we don't know what it is. I think you could post a full pic of the thing and we still wouldn't know. Some obscure outfit re-bodying newer Mustangs with older skins.
  9. They did sell the hatchbacks Gregg, but only about 2000 were built. I've never seen one and when the "Twister Vega" kit came out I thought it was just something MPC made up.
  10. I've seen this before. If it's what I think it is, it's by a modern car builder and available now, also as a convertible and in '65/'66 versions. Custom made one at a time ,,, and extremely expensive. BUT, darned if I can remember the name of the builder.
  11. Hey, no worries John, don't take it personally. Scalemates has become something of a running joke around here lately. ? As for a more accurate reference. Just ask here. There's loads of people on this site that have forgotten more about car kits and cars in general than just about any other site you could name.
  12. Nice save Rick. Back in the early '80s, "Twilight Zone Magazine" ran an interview with Meredith. In it he said that he didn't smoke at the time and the unique "Penguin cackle" was him trying to stay in character while trying to cover the coughing on the cigarette smoke. ?
  13. IIRC, it snowed a lot in California in the '80s. ?
  14. Getting your car kit info from them is like getting your news from The National Enquirer. Some may be true but there's as much BS as fact and a wealth of exclusion and plain everyday mistakes.
  15. Those newer Impala kits are 1/25 anyway, not 1/24. ,, and any engine in a 442 is an actual Olds, not Chevy. I really can't think of any well detailed SBC engines in 1/24 that haven't been mentioned already. I'd just pick one and go with it. It's mostly hidden in a Vette anyway. But, there's no reason you can't use the Olds accessory belts on a Chevy engine with a little tweaking.
  16. The tail lights are actually '57 Rambler front park lights flipped over.
  17. Got the paint off and found a previous owner had tried to strip paint off the hood by scraping it off. A couple heavy coats of BIN and some wet sanding got it smooth but not even as shown by the silver guide coat. Block sanded out the bad areas and ready for another coat of BIN and another silver guide coat but I think it's OK now. rest of the body was pretty good and need no extra work. The wheels are from the AMT '66 Mercury, my favorite wheel for old Thunderbirds and the tires are from the current issue of the AMT '60 Chevy pickup with the go-cart. I think they're the thinnest pinstripes I've seen on a kit tire. The other side has a wide whitewall right to the rim.
  18. How close is the Pinto suspension to the Mustang II ? The Revell Beatnik Bandit II has a detailed Mustang setup, if you can use it?
  19. Hi from New Brunswick, actual East Coast. Of corse, Nova Scotia, PEI and Newfoundland are more east, but at least we know Canada doesn't stop at the Quebec border. ??
  20. Larry Watson's was much cooler.
  21. I don't think that's an actual kit from a model company. Looks to me like a larger scale plastic toy from somewhere. Note the grille in this pic ,,, '62 Chrysler 300 , probably from the AMT parts pack. I know that's 1/25 and looks tiny on the car. ,,, Yes, I do think it's a larger scale toy modified to use on the shows.
  22. Nope, no Canadians here. ??
  23. Looks just like '75 Dodge code L-4 "parchment"
  24. I don't have that kit any more but it seems to me that the bottom edge of the glass sat on top of the chrome, not under it. It just slid in from behind so the bottom edge sits on the chrome cowl area and the top of the glass is under the top of the frame.
  25. Needs a built Pontiac 455, not a Chevy. ? But everyone has an opinion. ?
