  1. That's looking great ?
  2. Beautiful I almost mistook the first pic for a 1/1 car. ?
  3. I'll take your word for it Roger as I don't have a Monogram kit to check. I thought the offset was done with the motor mounts or crossmember. I would have thought different lengths A-arms on both sides would really screw up the suspension geometry. I do know the AMT Chevy van suspension works though because I've done it.
  4. Yea, OK. Just stating my opinion. ?
  5. Those look great Tom Is the Chevy pickup 1/24 or 1/25?
  6. If you can find a Monogram Chevy van you could adapt the front suspension from that. It's really close to the pickup suspension.
  7. Either Chris' or Roger's suggestions will get you there, eventually. I'd go with the MPC '82 for a 4X4 or the Revell '66 for a 2 wheel drive. Both would need to be lengthened. And as Chris says, the '82 has more correct inner fenders. I've been working on mine for almost a year now. I used the Revell '66 as it's what I had as a free donor. Made a set of inner fenders from an old MPC '78 Trans Am.
  8. I wish they had reissued that '57 Caddy in almost any other color than red. Why do they think that's a good idea?
  9. A lot of 4X4 kits had them in the late '70s and '80s. But, right now, the AMT "Superstones" Ford pickup has a set but they don't have any lug nut detail. The AMT "Fantom" Ford van has a set but not plated.
  10. Pretty sure it has the same wheels Roger. The Ford "wagon wheels" mine has on it and a set of alloy wheels like this,
  11. Here's a few pics of mine. It's an original I bought and built sometime in the early '80s. It's due for a rebuild and I even have a sheet of replacement decals for it. It's one of those "I'll get around to it someday" jobs. Only change I had made is the Desert Dog tires. It comes with the same ones as in the "Superstones" Ford pickup. This kit is in fact very similar to that one and I think they share some parts.
  12. Pretty sharp Bud ! Your love for these cars shows with the work you put into this one. ???
  13. There was a Ford version that looked very similar but that particular kit is a Chevy.
  14. Oh, yes, quite right. ?
  15. The AMT GMC stepside is the one that's being released now as the Racer's Wedge and Coca-Cola truck, if that's the one you mean. Foolishly modified into a longbed Chevy, which they already had anyway. But, Yea, the MPC longbed stepside should still be around somewhere. They should correct the rear fenders if they release it though.
  16. I now have the paint polished out and the bed assembled. I just used the AMT GMC stepside fenders on the rest of the Revell '65 bed. I had to put a couple filler pieces on the bottom of the bed sides to close up a gap left as the '72 fenders are a bit shorter than the '65.
  17. Came out pretty good but I did have to do some wet sanding to get some of the red off that was being stubborn. Glad I was able to save the 4 chrome slashes on the rear 1/4s and the two raised character lines on the hood as they're the defining details of a '61 The rest of the emblems and script were already removed making this a good candidate for a mild custom. Only thing I had to do is fill the depressions below the door handles.
  18. It's a pigmented shellac. I usually thin it down and spray it with my airbrush as it comes out of the can kinda heavy. It's alcohol based so I use regular rubbing alcohol for thinning and cleanup.
  19. First, don't put too much faith in Scalemates. I've found mistakes in at least 3/4 of the pages I've looked at there. It's like getting your news from the National Enquirer. ? Anyway, here's the body assembly section from the first one,, And here's the same section from the second one,, Both are the same, based on the stock body and they look to be exactly the same kit except the black stripes on the decals of the first are blue on the second. Here's links to both,, https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-70-mustang-funn/ https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-mach-won-mustan/
  20. You can save the plastic on that Mustang with some BIN. I've repaired the surface on lacquer burnt kits by spraying a coat of BIN, wet sand smooth with about 1000 or 2000 grit, do it again and possibly once again if needed. This Charger was really rough after I got the 40 years of paint off it and it turned out great. You'd never know it was damaged.
  21. Thanks guys. Now I have to decide what plane to start next. ?
  22. Beautiful build. ???
  23. Snake, those green Cobras aren't that hard to find. It's the "Reggie Jackson" series you're looking for. There's 5 on the bay right now.
