  1. My uncle Gilbert , who passed about 12 years ago told me,, "Never tell anyone everything you know, then they'll know more then you do".
  2. Now that's something I'd be interested in. Will you be doing one to fit the Revell kit also? The front profile of the AMT is off a bit. A bit too much "W" , kinda makes it have more of a Buick look while the Revell looks spot-on to me.
  3. Pretty sure the early '60s have a completely different body then the '70s ones ,Mike. Early later,
  4. Yup, really. I know that sounds pretty flippant and possibly a bit ignorant but here's how I look at it. Every model kit is just a box of plastic. It may be something you like and want to have or it may not be. If it's something you're not interested in you don't buy it. Say, a model of a sailing ship or a gundam for example. If it doesn't interest you, you ignore it and move on. If it something that does interest you but you don't like the kit, same thing. Ignore it and move on. No one has to buy every kit ever released, nore should they. What's the point? If you don't like the kit or it doesn't interest you, don't buy it. It's just that simple.
  5. But that's the thing with old tooling Chris. The tooling may very well not be "paid for" yet. You have to think of the tooling like an used car. Sure someone bought it off the lot brand new and paid for it. Then they sold it, and it was sold again. Every time it's sold the new buyer has to pay for it , right? Same thing. The tooling was bought new[created] and paid for. But it was bought and sold several times since them and it had to be paid for every time. When Round 2 bought it, they had to pay for it again and the only way they get to recoup their investment it to run the tooling and sell the kits it produces. Do they have to sell them for as much as they do? Probably not but they are in the business to make money, not supply us with kits as a free service. And something to remember is these kit sales help build their accounts so they can afford to have new kits created and released.
  6. Ya know, it's not a problem guys, just don't buy them. It's just a box of plastic, no one's life depends on you buying one. ๐Ÿคจ
  7. I'd definitely be in for a Tahoe. I'd really like to get a hold of one as a follow-up to my last OBS build. So, if anyone has one to trade,[ don't need the wheels], maybe we could work something out after the Canada Post strike ends.
  8. Like any other scratch building, it's just a bunch of shapes glued together. You can use the kit's interior as a starting point and go from there. All the mods I did on this interior were done with just sheet stock cut to shape. Each individual pleat on the seats and door panels are made up from individual pieces. Here's a link to the build album starting on the interior work. https://public.fotki.com/SteveMilberry/projects/cushenberrys-limelighter/page3.html
  9. It's in the fridge with a 2-4 of Alpine.๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. Personally, I'd rather see a '67 Galaxie then another '32 Ford , , even a '32 pickup.
  11. Grafted on the front suspension from the AMT '57 Chrysler I used for the under hood bits. Was planning to use the uprights too but they were kinda fragile and one broke so I made a new pair from sprue. Wasn't really planning to put this much work into it but it kinda got away from me. I'll be keeping the rest of the chassis simple though in the interest of getting the car finished.
  12. Finished up the floor. Just cobbled it together from sheet material and some tubing. I made it so it comes up the sides of the door panels a bit to make up for the added height. I did it this way so I can take it out, spray it and flock it and re-install.
  13. BTW, here's links to my Beaumont & Acadian album,, https://public.fotki.com/SteveMilberry/refrence_pics/beaumont_pics/ and my Meteor & Monarch album,, https://public.fotki.com/SteveMilberry/refrence_pics/canadian_meteors/
  14. Same vehicle 4 years earlier at the same show. Not factory, just a regular Chevy Elky with a Beaumont front clip. Still, give it a proper paint job and I'd drive the wheels off it. ๐Ÿ˜
  15. When I see the phrase "Strange Brew" I think of these hosers. I bet I'm not the only one. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰
  16. I don't know of any, Carl. But I am surprised more people don't offer any. After all, the conversion Luka's offering is just strait copies of the original MPC 2 wheel drive parts. BUT, the front suspension from the AMT '70s van kits are the same in 1/1 and the kit parts can be adapted to the MPC 4X4 kits, I've done it before.
  17. Hey Dan, you know what's better then a spray can of Tamiya paint? , , A spray can of Tamiya paint shot through an airbrush. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  18. The most common kits with those tires are the Monogram Lambo Countachs. I love those tires for street rods and compact cars like VW Rabbits.
  19. Someone put a lot of work riceing that one out. Just looks wrong. The body panels were made in my home town of Minto ,, in the winter,, in a warehouse with very little heat. So if anyone was wondering why the body panels on those always look so bad, well, now you know. ๐Ÿ™„
  20. Personally, I wouldn't even hazard a guess until I see a pic of the back of the car. It's "Schrodinger's car". ๐Ÿ˜‰
  21. Chuck, the thing that strikes me the most on this one is the fogged headlights. A very common thing with vehicles getting older. My 2012 Impala has them. It's a very subtle but realistic touch.
  22. Ray's Kits Decals offers them in 8 color combos[3 different reds] as well as custom colors on special order on request. A but pricey but very complete. I know it says 1/25 on the pic but they're also available in 1/24, 1/16 and 1/8 https://rayskits.com/product/1979-pontiac-firebird-trans-am-2/
  23. Sorry to say he's wrong Monty. Those tires do indeed come in the latest reissue of that kit.
