  1. Ron, with that swirly silver plastic and sunroof, I'm pretty sure that's the remains of a Monogram '79 Indy Pace Car.
  2. The wheels and tires need to be swapped side for side Rob. Both are backwards as they are now.
  3. A 71-74 Charger dash would be pretty close to the right shape. Instrument panel itself would be way off but maybe you could work with it.
  4. All the AMT '55 /'57 Chevy pickups that are NOT marked as "street machine" have stock front axels. I "think" all the stock ones are Cameos though. I'd think you could use any strait axel that's wide enough though. I'd check in gasser kits and any kits with a gasser strait axel option. I'd sent you one [IF I have one] but our post office is on strike right now.
  5. I'm digg'n it Chuck. I kinda thought this thread was dead really. Nice to see some action on it again.
  6. Yea, I don't get the whole black wheel thing either, Dan. Ya spend money on nice wheels you'd think you'd like people to be able to see them. , , , and to me, black wheels scream "snow tire wheels". ?
  7. Steve, the hood on the Chevy wagon looks like a separate piece, can you confirm? Also, for those wondering, a shot of the back of my annual '72 Duster. Hard to tell but the divider bar in the tail lights was molded as part of the body.

    Question.

How about one from a Revell Charger kit? If it's not a close enough match, just swap the remaining one as well. Detail Master also makes a couple different photoetch wiper sets
  9. Michael, the wheels on that particular car are from a later year Thunderbird. They are not the TRX wheels it came with. Probably changed because the TRX wheels were a metric size ,usually hard to come by in some places.
  10. Take a closer look guys, there ain't nothing "stock" anywhere on that body of that car.
  11. Bob, looks to me like that wagon does indeed have a separate hood. Can you confirm?
  12. Barris would put his name on anything for a buck. He was well known for buying customs other people built and putting his name on them like he built them himself. Those stickers were great, weren't they? Whoever thought "rub and stick" dry transfers were a good idea for a model should have been fired. But, Good on ya Jim for jumping right in there and start cutting. A bit scary at first but don't be afraid of making mistakes. Mistakes are how we learn what works and what don't. ?
  13. Very cool. The Barracuda and '60 wagon are like The Spanish Inquisition! ???
  14. That's what I read in the Scale Auto review of the kit back when the it was released. AMT never did a '78 or later 2nd gen.
  15. I'd suggest adding some sort of bodywork surround to the grille opening to smooth it off. Like what a Mercury has to give it a more "finished" look, maybe even use parts from a Mercury. The AMT '49 Ford coupe and '50 convertible both have custom pieces that could easily be adapted for this. Different year but you get the idea.
  16. Mark, Just an FYI, the '72 Blazer roof is exactly the same parts. Probably easier to find parts from the Blazer as it was reissued a couple times. In fact, apart from the chrome tree and decals, the kits are identical.
  17. Yea, I thought some of that artwork looked familiar. AMT released them in North America too.
  18. Luc, are all these going to be in 1/24 or some other scale?
  19. Looks great. Nice to see one built stock.
  20. Larry, just a FYI, I have a set of Stage-1 455 valve covers hanging in the garage and compared the measurements to the AMT '69 Riviera valve covers and they scale out about right so the 430 in the Riv is scaled correctly. Not great on detail though.
  21. so, here's what I've been able to get done since last time,,, Trimmed the floor sections out of the shallow interior bucket to get some depth there. Also trimmed off some from the chassis plate and will add it back in with a tranny hump that was missing from the interior. Did the base painting on the interior. It was so long since I painted the cream color that I forgot I did it and thought it was the bare plastic color. ? Did the seat inserts by dabbing on some slightly thinned Testors rust for a patterned cloth kinda look. The floor sections will be flocked in a similar shade. The dash was done in rust also with the upper part of the bucket. Dosen't show very well but I did the white accents on the door panels. Went around the windows with some black semi-gloss and installed the glass. Made simple motor mounts and got the engine set where I want it . I have an extra long weekend coming up and plan to get some chassis work done as well as maybe finish up the interior.
  22. Why did you mount the bumpers under thier skirts, Jim? Just for the look?
  23. Don't know what you're looking at, John , but the car at the link definitely does not have the scoops on the rear deck Declan's talking about.
