1/25 or G Scale Outboard Motors?
Can-Con replied to bobss396's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
sounds like you need the outboard from this kit? Spotlight Hobbies has them in stock for about 43 bucks so don't be suckered into paying big bucks for one, it's a current kit, not a "collector's kit". -
The one in the AMT [MPC] 30th Anniversary T/A kit is a 3.8 Buick turbo.
-
What Mike said above is correct. It's not that the MPC kit is under scale, it's just too short. If you had 2 MPC bodies and chassis plates you could splice the front 1/2 from one and the back 1/2 from the other and make them the right length. I'd guess that would be easier then trying to graft the MPC front end on the Revell kit because it would be easier to get all the character lines and body contours to line up.

That was super common here in North America too. I've done it by just adding a strip of black 1/64" Chart Pack tape to the chrome strip and sealing it on with Tamiya clear acrylic.

Stranger Things Blazer
Can-Con replied to SteveKnox's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
You lying puke, you've never "almost built" anything box stock in almost 40 years, you're incapable of it, as am I. ๐๐ Still lov'n it though. Looks so much like a HotWheels SpectraChrome paint job. -
GNX also has prominent fender flares that no other Regal has, not even the Grand National. Also, a regular Regal wouldn't have the spoiler on the trunk lid or the hood bulge.

Any idea "what" this is called?
Can-Con replied to Khils's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Pretty cool piece Kevin. I've never seen one in person. -
That is something you definitely do not want to joke about Mike. Trust me on that.
-
I'm Canadian, Mike, I'm not going there. ๐๐ฟ

Yes, a '80-'81 "rainbow" would be really cool. Oddest factory color combo I ever seen in person, on a Z was a '78-'79 in that light puke green with the green stripes. Kinda revolting and fascinating at the same time.

Is anybody familiar with F&F Resin?
Can-Con replied to Riser70's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
F&F was a resin casting company, not a 3-D printing company. No files, resin cast product from molds. -
Ron, Am I missing something here or did you just reply to your own post ? ๐คจ
-
Um, yea, I'm not gonna bother reading all that, Mike. I was just trying to state that I was just asking about the hood because Steve mentioned the wheels and tires but not the hood in his post. Simple as that. If I had seen that you had asked the same question right before I did I wouldn't have bothered making a post at all as you are obviously much better versed in these cars and know more about them then I've ever wanted to know.

Revell: Stranger Things; Billyยดs Chevy Camaro
Can-Con replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
" However, if we keep accepting these mistakes, they will never improve." Yea, I've been hearing that like for , what, 40 or 50 years now. ๐คจ๐ -
"the stock โ80-โ81 style hood will be the most difficult part to duplicate" Not for me. I have an old '80 rebuilder in the stash and a fully built '81. I also have almost full supply of resin and latex to make a mold and cast as many as I need from either hood I have so I'm good. Just wondering as he didn't mention the hood but did mention the stock wheels and tires.
-
How about the '80/'81 hood, Steve? The hood in the "Pro Street" box art version of the kit is the '78/'79 style.

Atlantis rolls out ex Revell 57 Chevy Nomad.
Can-Con replied to John M.'s topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Maybe we should do a build-off with this kit. , , , But it should be open for more then 2 days. ๐ This was one of the first "adult" car kits I "built" when I was 7 or 8. , , some others were ,, IMC Mustang Mach II loads of early '70s MPC annuals some Monogram show rods and MPC Zingers, A little bit of everything , you get the idea. I bet a lot of you [most?]could put up a very similar list. Not many of them ever actually got finished and a lot not even painted. But you know what? I never even cared. I was happy, it kept me entertained and I never gave up with the hobby. None of us would be here on this board if it wasn't for those old "unbuildable" kits of our youth that never got finished and/or ended up in the trash of against the wall. -

The outer side of each tail light is slightly longer on the outside then it is on the inside towards the tail gate. Maybe he got them mixed up side to side, didn't know the difference and tried to get them to line up, which they never would being reversed. -
What kit is this? 1st gen Mustang
Can-Con replied to fun9c1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That ,I do believe is an original AMT '66 Mustang annual hardtop/convertible. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/ford/1961-1970/amt-1966-mustang-co/
