That's all I really had in mind when I came up with the idea, Bill. Other people came up with the idea of it being a good test to see if the paint would interact with the plastic after the article was published. I don't remember if it was the writer's idea or just took off from there afterward.

Ever since I missed out on my one and only chance to see "Doug & the Slugs", one of my favorite bands in person in '99 I've always made my best effort to catch any shows "of interest" when at all possible. Doug Bennet passed form the classic rock and roll disease of way too much Jack Daniels before just a few months before they were to tour my side of the country again . I'm happy to say I've scored tickets to a show featuring 4 of the bands I grew up listening to. A couple of the names will be familiar to everyone and a couple probably only to us here in Canada. So, at the end of November Mary and I are off to see "The Spoons, "Men Without Hats", Honeymoon Suite" and, most exciting for me, "A Flock of Seagulls". ? Should be a great night for me, can't wait. ?

If it has an engine, fine. If not, fine also. I've built a couple of my '71-'76 Impala/Caprices without the engine and I've also added engines to kits that didn't come with one. To me, the kit itself is just the base to start from.

Aside from the Cragars and decals, those are exactly the same as the last few reissues. I always liked the MPC Cragar SS wheels though. But if you really want them, the ones in the reissued AMT [X-MPC] '29 Ford Woody/pickup look almost identical if you cut the mounting bosses off the back.

Those built up nice and looked good when done. Too bad Monogram chose to use it to modify into the '70 that's available now instead of just making a new mold.

Mike, I don't have a dehydrator. BUT, my wife has an old salad spinner she got for Christmas one year. we don't eat that many salads so it's never been used. It's about the same size and shape. Do you think that would work ? It's used to dry stuff too so it should be OK, right?

No, they weren't. It wasn't economically profitable a the tariffs would have pushed up the price on them to about the same as a Buick or Olds A-body or possibly a full sized Canadian made Pontiac and defeated the purpose of having a lower priced Pontiac. They weren't sold in Canada until the 1970 model year, IIRC. But you're right about the Beaumont being "it's own thing", not a Pontiac. Similar to how a '60 Edsel was "it's own thing" , not a "Ford Edsel" in spite of having all Ford bodywork, just Edsel specific front and rear end treatments.

My local shop [not a chain store] has had them for months. Actually, I just checked to see if he still had any and he does, in fact, on sale for 20% off.

What the guys said above is accurate. When I did mine I let it set for a week and brushed a coat of Future on it and let it sit another couple days. No problems. I understand Spaz Stix makes a spray cleat for their chrome spray that works well on the Revell spray also.

These headlights and grille shell got some pretty rough handling during the build. I did redo the shell before assembly as I but a pretty good scratch in it but only did the headlights once. Both headlights were attached with CA , removed and re-attached a couple times as I hadn't noticed before but the previous owner apparently glued the headlight bar on crocked and I just drilled out the holes in the same places. It wasn't attached when I got it and assumed it was glued into the proper holes. So I ended up re-positioning the headlights by trial and error. ANYWAY, They were done with the Revell spray, let dry a week or so and given a single coat of Future. They still look pretty good even after all the rough handling they got. I wouldn't have had to redo the grille shell if I had been more careful. It looked fine until I did it in. I understand the Spaz Stix clear spray made for their chrome spray will also work well.

Brian, IIRC, MPC decals were printed on full sheets of decal paper back then, if that's so with the sheet you have why not try cutting a corner off the sheet and try it on something? That will tell you if the rest of the sheet is any good. No harm in trying. If they work, great, if not you're not out anything. I've used decals before as old as that with no problem. The swoop decals on my OBS pickup is from a kit over 30 years old and there was no problem with them. BTW, we has a long box '70/'72 stepside GMC when I was a kid in the mid '70s. It was in the family for years. ?

Two door or four door? and yes, they're in 1/25 scale.

Curtis, the Monogram "Black Rat" '65 Vette has the exact engine and chassis from that kit. The later '65s still have the chassis but, IIRC, the engine is more "stock" looking. I'd also look at their '78 Vettes. IIRC, also the same chassis or at least very very similar. The hood might even fit with a bit of trimming.

After I posted last night, I went down stairs and tried mine, less pressure then I remembered. 17PSI seems about right. I haven't used the thing in over a year.

Just one speed and no way to control air flow volume. Same as using a single action airbrush with no air volume control on the compressor.

Dunno Len. Looks exactly the same as mine and it puts out about 25 -30 PSi , I estimate. , Can't see it being any where near 71. BUT, seeing as you already have the unit, I'd imagine you can just fire it up and judge for yourself. ?

Aurora "Ragnarok Orbital Interceptor" I had one too but mine was missing one 1/2 of the fuselage. I too would like to have another but very rare kit and goes for big money. You think an original issue '70 GTX or Road Runner is expensive? They got nothing on this thing. There's one on e-bay right now , they're asking almost $400 for it but there is another one with a BIN of $175. It was based on this kit. Just different decals and color of plastic though. This one is on the bay with a BIN of $378.44 right now.

I have the same one. I hardly ever use it. I find that if I use it for spraying a body, it's pretty well dead by the time I'm done spraying and need to have it plugged in while I clean it. Nice for small parts but I don't really find any real advantages over my regular single action Badger setup. BUT, like Mark said above, an airbrush is an airbrush and it will spray anything a regular one will.
