Can-Con replied to styromaniac's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The webbing in the center makes me think "MPC" ,, maybe one of their front engine dragsters?? -

Interesting AI Generated cars
Can-Con replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This one is very interesting. Looks like something I should build. Lines up remarkably well with what I've been thinking of doing with a '67/'68 Lincoln I have missing it's stock front and back ends When I seen it I immediately thought of the AMT '69 Lincoln's custom option. -
OK, got a reply from Matt and Dawn at Spotlight. , , , "Yes, we will soon be offering a chrome service , , ,We are still working out the details and such. We will post more when it's 100% ready to go." So, This is very good news. I have used the various products with good results but as others have said, "nothing looks like chrome more then actual chrome" They even posted a couple pics,,

Humm, I wonder if putting it in the sun like you would do with yellowed decals would do anything? Probably not but nothing to loose at this point.
-
I put up a question about it on the Spotlight board last night as soon as I read this, still no reply. I do see they had some kits that they had some extra parts trees plated like frames and suspensions but this is the first I've heard of them even considering offering a plating service.

Heat Drying Chrome Paints?
Can-Con replied to oldcarfan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
OK, ample drying time and a coat of Future or Spaz Stix spray and you can handle them all you want. What, do you guys think I'm lying to you or something? ? The rad and headlights on this thing got some pretty heavy handling when I was finishing it up including pulling the headlights off and repositioning them a couple times. Still looks pretty good to me. -
I've always viewed what's in the box as just a starting point so it's really an non-issue for me. Honestly, I'd be more concerned with the lack of lower control arms. ?

Can't say I remember having any kit chrome do that but I have had some replated by Chrome+ years ago do it.

I noticed someone in the video said the original didn't have the 1/4 window pillar, that's incorrect. Here's a couple shots of my annual clearly showing it did have it.

Sometimes you're the windshield. Sometimes you're the bug. -
Got it foiled over the weekend. Good thing it's a long weekend.? All the trim is BMF on this one, including the door handles. Still have to do the black around the windows and brush some silver on the PLYMOUTH script on the tail gate.

Engine looks great. I think I'd have tried to find a set of Ford valve covers to use instead of the Pontiac ones but probably no one will notice.
-
You got a nice clean build going there Bill. IIRC, that windshield is tricky to get in. BTW, those valve covers look to be from the AMT '66 Mercury. I used them on one of my builds too.

In '84 I had a '76 Caprice Landau, would have been a beautiful car if I had money to put into it ,, and a starter. Late one night after visiting a cousin at UNB I started for home but the car wouldn't. I'd need a boost with no cables let along a handy car to get a boost from. Ron's room mate had a big Honda cruising bike but neither had a car so we made due. all I had in the trunk of the car was a stray wheel cover and a length of copper tubing. Took all three of us but with one holding the stainless steel wheel cover tight to my chrome front bumper and a chrome tube on the bike and another holding one end of the copper tubing to the positive on the bike and the other end on my battery, I started cranking it over and we managed to get it started. ?
