  1. Don't know if you're aware or not but aside from the Skyhawk scripts and Buick emblem on the nose, which are all so faint they'll be lost after a couple coats of primer and paint, the kit is identical to the '75-'77 or so Chevy Monza annual kits.
  2. I use a very fine detail brush and clean up the edges with a toothpick as I go.
  3. Beautiful, love it. ?
  4. Nice bunch of trucks there, Chuck.
  5. Except for those front fender flares being molded to the body with nothing behind them. You can easily cut them off but building up the section of fender in front of the wheel opening isn't exactly "easy". I'm used to doing major bodywork on customs and I'd think at least twice before attempting it.
  6. Thanks for all the comments everyone. ?
  7. OK this might be a stupid question but with all the talk of Model King and Pegasus in the last pages, will this kit be available to us here in Canada at our local hobby shops?
  8. Nice to see the body parts line up so well. I have an old '65 Elky body and plan to do the same conversion eventually.
  9. BTW, here's the video I was referring to in my post above,,
  10. Finally got it done up yesterday evening. It's the very old MPC kit from the '60s that I was gifted from Steve-O many years ago. Basically a reasonably simple rebuild. Stock body, no mods. The rear door window area was pretty damaged so the rear doors were replaced courtesy of Steve Curbishly who sent me a replacement pair. I lowered the suspension by swapping the axles from below the springs to above and trimming some material from the spring mounts. I widened the stock wheels and shaved the spokes for a better look. Engine is the OHC Pontiac 6 from the MPC '69 Firebird kit built stock with plug wires added. Paint is Duplicolor GM Cordova brown metallic. All chrome was redone with Revell spray except the front bumper which I did with BMF to see how much difference there would be. First, a couple "before" pics and the "after" ,,,And here's a link to the build album with more pics,, https://public.fotki.com/SteveMilberry/projects/32-chev-sd/
  11. DOHC 4.0L V8. 320hp in the Shelby. designated L47 The "Shortstar" 6 was available in the Aurora and Intrigue. designated LX5
  12. The Revell Shelby Series 1 has an Olds Aurora version of the Northstar engine. Don't know if that helps any.
  13. This pic was taken 20 years ago. The white was regular Testors bottle white, notorious for turning yellow after a couple years. It's clear coated with Tamiya bottle clear X-22 thinned with isopropyl alcohol. The white is still as bright today as when it was painted, not a hint of yellowing.
  14. Yup, I was looking up the pic when Mark posted but yea, '66 Galaxie,,
  15. Sherman tank engine?
  16. Thanks Eric. I do have one of those but I haven't opened the box in years. ?
  17. I like the one in the '69 and '70 annuals better but I have a bunch of those custom grilles and may someday use one on a custom by cutting the lights out and replacing the section from another grille. The stock grille in that kit doesn't look that great anyway, the headlights aren't even exactly round.
  18. Looks great. did that rear bumper come with the kit or is is from elsewhere? I ask because I know the back bumper for some of those last years GTO kits don't fit well, that looks perfect.
  19. Actually Bill, I seen a video on this truck just last week.
  20. I'm not much of a photographer but I did spot this along the side of a trail to a house I was working at a few years ago and thought it was a perfect shot. I just took the pic and left it exactly as I found it to return back to nature. I've used it as my avatar on a couple music sites I belong to.
  21. Excellent build. Some very tasteful customizing in that one.
  22. I think everyone should only build the kits exactly as they say on the instructions and only with the parts that come in the box. NEVER be creative in any way. This is how I ALWAYS assemble my miniatures and I believe everyone else would always follow the rules. ? Now lets have no more of this "kitbashing" poppycock. ?
  23. That's what I was thinking too, Rob. Those lenses are too small for single round headlights and those trucks never has quad round headlights, even with the earlier front ends.
