When I got the car, the front fenders at the bumper were repaired but not finished. Also, there was a hole in the hood. Picked away at that today. Also started on tinting the glass. Doing the glass for my '65 Chrysler at the same time. Just sprayed the tint bands. More to come on this. The Cragars from the Revell wern't really doing it for me. Swapped them out for a set from the AMT '70 Impala. I like these better for this car.

Thanks Steve. I did work on the GP a bit today. Deepened the door and trunk lines and worked a bit on the repaired areas on the hood and front fenders.

Actually, it's all finished except for the back bumper. Gonna be a few weeks before it's back. When that happens I'll post a full set of pics. But for now, here's the engine bay and a teaser pic.

Looks like we've been looking at the same auctions, Snake. [no, I didn't bid, exchange rate's way too bad right now] IIRC, the chrome from the funnycar will fit that Cougar. You might be able to use the hood too, not sure. That Monogram Vette was in the catalog at the same time as the Daniels version. Only differences are the bits that glue on the outside. Body, chassis, engine etc. are identical. The chassis was later stretched and used under the 4 door "Corvette America" kit and then brought back to stock length and used under the '65 kits.

OK, here's what you do ,,, You'll need some thin sheet material. Thin enough to slip between the chrome kit bezel and the opening. They should be wide enough to stick out beyond the opening slightly when installed. Cut 4 thin strips, one for each bezel, and glue them around the headlight bezels, seam at the top center. Check fit, you want it a touch loose to accommodate paint buildup. If it's a bit snug, open the holes in the body up a touch with needle files. Check fit again, if it's right, hold the bezels in the body and sand the strips you glued on flush with the body. Remove and sand again so they're slightly inside the opening. Now carefully drill out and remove the headlight lens area. It goes without saying ,, be verry careful!!. Ideally, I'd now work some putty into the seam where the strips are glued to the bezel but that may be too tricky. You might be able to do it, depending on guts and still. ? If the seam's tight, another option may be to simply heavily paint the inside with gloss black enamel a couple times. A water based enamel would be preferable as it would dry a lot quicker. This will not only fill the seam but make a good base for Alacad or Moloto . Anyway, that's how I would do it. Looking at the body work you have already done, I suspect you should be able to pull it off without problems.

Just thinking here ,, couldn't you use the photoetch scripts on the GCG '68 Firebird sheet? The scripts look the same to me and there'd be some other stuff you could use on it.

Super work. Yes, Snake's post had me thinking about this project too. , , and you caught the problem with the front bumper too. I do agree about the headlights but I'd scrap the kit parts completely and make new bezels and all ,, but like Snake says, you ain't done yet. I also can't wait to watch this come together.

I guess they would get around to reissuing the Rabbit. One of my favorite kits. I've built a couple and still have a couple unbuilt in their boxes. I plan to do the next one in baby blue. Gonna line them all up at Easter.

I've got a couple like that. For years I've been thinking about building a mild custom '64 Galaxie. It would have most of the trim shaved off , candy green paint riding low on a set of vintage 5-spoke mags like Winfield Terra thrusts or some other off-brand. Another one is a mini-tubbed '77 Volare RoadRunner. Off white with the red/orange stripes. Blown Hemi sticking through the hood. Now, I do have everything I need to build both cars ,, except just haven't yet. How about you guys? What cool projects have you thought up but just haven't pulled the trigger on yet?

Hey Carl, before you open it you should do a post where people can try to guess what color it's molded in. ? I have an unopen one on my shelf too, along with an unopen Olds Starfire. IIRC, I paid $15 a peice for them a few years ago.?

I'd suggest doing a google image search for "1/24 tuner wheels". That will give you a good cross section of choices like hiroboy, hobbylink, etc. but it's kind of confusing sorting the online vendors from sites just showing product. Happy hunting. -

I'm the guy who initially answered Rich's question. I know it was discussed here before a couple times. I did not feel the need to tell the guy to go find the answer himself, I feel that would have been rude when I gave him his answer just as easily. In this unimagined time, is it so wrong to have a little bit of human interaction, even if it's an a keyboard? -
I'm not %100 sure Roger but just looking at the way the brochure is worded, it sounds like the body side and tailgate trim was only available on the Fleetside trucks.

It's definitely 1/25. The body is copied from the MPC kit. In fact, they're all 1/25. The Caddy is a JoHan copy and the T-bird and Impala are AMT. -
OK, got my color. Just happen to have a bottle of '69 Pontiac limelight green from Scale Finishes. Exactly what I had in mind.

LOL ,, Just easier to paint one wire attached at both ends then two with loose ends. Then I just snip it and run the ends to where they need to go.
