  1. So, my Chrysler seems to be quite a success. How do I follow up? What could I customize that would have a similar impact? ? ,,, any ideas on what my next full custom build should be??

  3. If it's been sitting for 2 years already and it's not hardened up again by itself, I'd guess it's not gonna. I don't know what else you could do. Have you tried contacting Paul Fisher and asking him about the problem? He might have some ideas.

  5. Yes, those wheels. They're just the AMT '62 Thunderbird wires slipped into the 5 hole custom wheels that Lindberg put in some of the '34 Ford pickup kits.
  6. I've done that with small parts ,,wheels. They eventually hardened back up by themselves. Couldn't honestly say if a whole body would or not. Wouldn't hurt to just let it alone for a while and see what happens.

  9. Got the back bumper back from LMKCo today. It's attached and I just need to find a suitable licence plate before taking the pics. Should have the pics up real soon. Thanks again on all the kind comments and suggestions on the car.
  10. I'd use whatever I can from the Monogram kit. You just need the block, heads and valve covers from the Riv because they're so much smaller. I'd also use the Monogram intake manifold if you can file it down to fit the Riv engine. The front cover/water pump part on the riv engine is carp. Looked nothing like the one on my real Riv, or any of the other big Buick engines I had. They do interchange between the 430/455 and 350 on the real thing, I've done it. That's the biggest problem with the Riv engine. The intake manifold isn't that great either but it can be hidden a bit with the air cleaner and some plumping and wires. BTW, That "star wars" air cleaner in the riv kit was only available in '67.
  11. I'd also check the AMT '65 Pontiac Bonnevilles. The real cars used the same glass as the Chevys so it stands to reason that the kit glass would work too.
  12. I'd go with the '69 Riviera engine. It's a bit undersize anyway. I'd use the water pump/ distributor assembly from the Monogram '70 GSX. Sand the ribs from the Riviera valve covers and add new ones in the unique 350 pattern from very small 1/2 round strips or stretched sprue. I grew up tinkering on these engines, even still have a set of factory chrome GS valve covers hanging in the garage. ?

  14. Other unique parts in the kit were the hood, a roll bar, rear fender flares and a radar detector. The wheels are the same wires as the ones in the Monogram Miami Vice Daytona kit. The odd looking front end is actually kind of a cross between what the IMSA and IROC race cars were using on Camaros at the time.

  17. I couldn't say about that. But,, the 454 wasn't available in California. That may be the source of the confusion. Here's a page from the American '76 Chevy brochure listing the available engines, it's right there.   18. That PE set you have there is for the '65/'66 kits. That front clip is from a '67 kit. You have the wrong sheet for the car. MCG did do a sheet for that '67 Shelby kit but I can't find a listing for it anywhere now. [they show it on their home page though] PS, both sheets they show at the top of their home page seem to be no longer available.

  20. That old kit review that said the 454 wasn't available in '76 was BS. My '76 Caprice Classic Landau came from the factory with a 454 4bbl.

Here's the last one I did again ,,, "Well, all I know is when I do a Google image search for "1971 Ford Thunderbird" all the pics of them have the bright front pan and when I do a google image search for "1970 Ford Thunderbird" all the pics show then with a body color pan. So, I'd say David is %100 correct with the bright pan on his build."

  24. I'm not ticked off Scott, but I'd just like to point out that although they were very similar, the MPC Toronados were a separate kit from the AMT/JoHan kits. It's most apparent in the underhood area.
