  1. The gallon of Honda Dyno blue pearl I bought to paint my T/A last summer was almost twice that. , , Over twice when you count in a gallon of reducer.
  2. Testors has a darker red in thier bottle paints that seems pretty close to me. I think it's #1104. At least that's what the unfaded areas on the valve covers of my '68 Electra look like.
  3. It's the ONLY 430 out there. The valve covers are dead on but the rest?,, maybe not so much. The 455 in the Monogram '70 GSX is really good if you don't mind the scale difference. But you'd have to sand the ribs off the valve covers and add new ones. Here's a couple shots to start you off,, ,,,, and a gratuitous pic of my old Riv. Unfortunatly this old Kodak 110 pic is the only one I have left of it.
  4. Looks fantastic Randy. I plan to do mine very similar to yours. Gotta get some more decals from Keith soon. Is that Testors Hugger Orange?
  5. Just incredible !
  6. Um Dan , This is gonna freak you out a bit ,, I bought this one at NNL east about 10 years ago. Haven't got around to stripping it yet but ??
  7. Monty, I used to have a 1/1 '69 Riv, I'm very familiar with them. Favorite car I've owned Aside from the engine, the '66 chassis and underhood area is correct for a '69. ,,Any Riv from '66 to '70 actually. You'll need the 430 from the '69 kit , the nailhead in the '66 was the last year for that engine. You should also add some headlights under the hood if you're going that far ,, and please ,, no amber on the front signals and cornering lights. LOL Yes, the Chevelle chassis is completely wrong for a 'Riv. Anything else about a '69 Riv, please just ask.
  8. Outstanding build !
  9. One thought about the Trans Am sheet. You should include 4 "Trans Am" name decals. Then if someone wants to do a regular T/A, they can as they have one name on each bumper and one on each front fender right above the vent. They're all the same size also.
  10. I figured they named the original what they did just because it rhymed.
  11. Sounds like you're trying to get it done in one coat? How about spraying on light coats and letting it dry between coats?
  12. Snake. the wheels in the AMT '25 T kits are the Winfield wheels. Here's a couple pics from the "fruit wagon" issue, it has the same chrome tree as the coupe/roadster that was reissued often. Pics from the Drastic Plastic clubs Fotki page.
  13. Speaking of wheels and tires, Most of the large diameter ones included in the "Resto Rods" serise looked pretty good, especially thier Torque Thrusts in the Mustang kits and the 3 rib Raders in the '66 Galaxie. [I could use another set or 2 of those if anyone has any to trade??] And the ones in the '66 Nova are dead ringers for some I see a lot on pickups around here. Nice thing is they're mostly self contained on seprate sprues and could be dropped in any kit that uses metal axels or similar small pin mounting systems.
  14. Ya know Anthony, it's kinda too bad you've already started on this project. It would have been cool if you had kept this one the way it was and started with the fresh kit. That way you could have displayed them together as kind of a "then and now" display.
  15. From the info I found, that grille and radiator was used on the '32 cars and '33 light trucks. But I can't find any pics that match the delivery body of the kit. '33 cars used a grille/radiator with a slight "V" to it and free standing headlights with no bar between them. Also note the "skirted" fenders similar to a '33/'34 Ford.
  16. That would make perfect sense as I have a rebuilder I keep threatening to strip down and hotrod one of these days.
  17. They do tend to get a bit hard to keep track of when they quit putting the year on the box. But, I agree, a stock front end would have been better for most cases. Easier to do a work truck out of it that way.
  18. The RLB was the '82 annual Luc. It was the last Elcamino annual kit.
  19. Seeing how it was Racing Champions, I think it's more likely they were looking at the '70, thought it was a '68 and didn't know the difference.
  20. Looks really cool. Too bad no one seems to be able to get the roof right on those cars. Oh well, maybe Revell will get it right when they bring out the one the rumours were going around about 10 or 15 years ago.
  21. Yup, that's what I do. But it may look "cloudy" or "blurry" when you're done. But all you have to do is wait for it to be completely dry for a couple days and clearcoat it and polish it out like you would any other paintjob. When you're done it should be 100% clear and shiny.
  22. That's pretty cool Bob !
  23. Says in the brochure that 3 speed standard was the base tranny for all fullsize Pontiacs in '67, including Bonnies and GPs with the 4 speed and Turbo Hydromatic auto being optional. On a full size Buick or Olds I'd question it but remember a Pontiac was only the second tier mark for GM at the time with only Chevy being placed lower. Also Pontiac was thier "performance car" so a standard tranny would be expected to be available.
  24. They also came with a standard tranny. Here's a link to one for sale,, https://www.cars-on-line.com/gen3-cars/col1/posting/88694
  25. I used the '65 chassis under this one. The Merc wheelbase is only 1 inch longer so I was able to fudge it by simply moving the rear axle back slightly.
