I call it a paint by numbers model because all I did was paint it and put it together. No extra detailing, modifications or even polishing out the paint. Paint is Duplicolor Metalcast clear red over a Duplicolor silver base with Duplicolor clear coat. No polishing. Engine, seats and all details are Testors bottle enamel. Couple things to watch out for on this kit are the pins on the back of the wheel outers should be trimmed off to fit into the tires properly against the backs and the rear spring mount is called out as plated on the instructions, it's not. I had to get the paint back out and do it 1/2 way through assembly.

The Questionable Ads on this site
Can-Con replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Yup. the ads are put up by an algorithm that tracks what sited you've visited [or someone else using your machine] , like Andy said above. I think I can explain why the female clothes ads though, I don't think the algorithm can distinguish between "models' such as we build and female human "models' so we get ads for both. ? And the vehicle ads would be because ,, well what to we build and post pics of on here?? ? One day a couple months ago I was joking with my wife about heating hash brown patties in the toaster but we could if we had a toaster oven. Next day I got a bunch of ads on here for toaster ovens. Never searched for them on any device bit I guess my phone picked up on it.? -
Yea, what? close to 30 bars and pubs in a 2 block stretch? ,,, No one'd believe that ,, except another Maritimer. ??

Ya ain't gonna tell him 'bout George Street in Town? ?

Thanks Claude. No, Ford didn't make any Thunderbird convertibles of that generation. '66 was the last year for them until the last generation 2 seaters. The parts were kit custom parts but not for the '69. They were in the '67 and '68s

Thanks everyone. Yea, I had originally planned to use a set of KH "Strippers" on this[the wheels that look like wires] but after I finished the paint and seen how much it would look like a redline Hot Wheels I changed to Cragars and red lines. The roadster tonneau was also a last minute decision. I wasn't originally planning to do that but after playing with it and seeing how the lines seemed to naturally blend together, how could I NOT do it.

Can-Con replied to Bullybeef's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not even my wife, believe me.? -
What options do I have here...?
Can-Con replied to 花火's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'd go with the clear sheet. After all, that's how they make the real ones. -

First off, I e-mailed my local shop last evening after seeing this and got a reply while at work today confirming it so.. Second, us here in Atlantic Canada don't appreciate all the hot, humid weather and hurricanes you guys sent up from Florida so knock it off. You can put on more cloths in cold weather, You can only take off so much in hot. ? -
Here's another good wheel site,, https://akhwheels.com/

It seems back in the '60s and '70s everyone was copying everyone elses wheels. When you go through the lists you'll see probably 70% of them made TT and slotted mag copies and don't even mention the Vector, Turbine and 8 spoke wagon wheel knockoffs in the '70s.? I found that link years ago. Quite the little rabbit hole. ?
-
I just went through the wheel catalogues at the link below and found no less then 24 companies that made close copies or outright clones of the Cragar SS wheel. https://vintagewheelcatalogs.com/

OK, so that was 6 days ago. How long do you think realistically it should take a package to arrive from Europe to North America by mail?
-
That's correct. The Firebird was similar. Both had separate roofs.

Thanks Nathan. That's the vibe I was going for with the Cragars and red lines.?

Finally finished it up. Pretty happy with it. This is what I started with ,,, ,,And here's the finished product. Paint is Duplicolor Metalcast transparent purple over metallic silver with Duplicolor clearcoat. My can of purple was more fuchsia then purple, which was what I wanted for this car fortunately. ,, OR,,, , ,, Would you prefer the "Sport Roadster" option" ? Here's a link to my album with loads more pics,, https://public.fotki.com/SteveMilberry/custom-69-thunderbird/

This is now finished and posted in "under glass". ?

The '70s Eldorados should have it. The promo '76 I have was missing when I bought it from X-EL in the very early '80s. I wrote them and they sent me a bunch of them but that was over 40 years ago. If I had any left I'd mail a couple to you.

Beautiful, traditional car, Phil. Very clean!

That looks incredible. ???

Just wanted to bring this back up as I should have it finished this weekend. ?

Since '80 was the end of the line for them, being replaced with the Caviliers for the '82 model year, as far as I can see the only differences that would apply to a 1/25 scale model would be the decals and front air dam. Even the interior is the same.

There's been a scam going around for a while with the Visa "Joker" pre paid Visa cards. [you can google it if you wish] so I guess it makes all cards suspect.

Tom also keep in mind that the wagon shares a chrome tree with the Elky in addition to the one with specific parts for the kit. SO, the Elky actually has 6 door handles in the kit! ?
